Barr Scores High on Ron Paul-O-Meter

Liberty Maven releases their ranking of Bob Barr compared to Ron Paul. Obama and McCain also ranked.

Liberty Maven just released their ranking of Bob Barr on the Ron Paul-O-Meter. The meter is a ranking of how close a candidate matches up with Ron Paul on the issues. Bob Barr scores an 88 out of a possible 99 on the Paul-O-Meter. Liberty Maven has also ranked Barack Obama with a score of 17 and John McCain with a score of 25.

The Paul-O-Meter uses 20 criteria with a grade of 1-5 on each to calculate their score. For a more in-depth look at the Paul-O-Meter, click here.

It doesn't surprise me that Bob Barr did so well on the meter. Except for his passed voting record (which he has apologized for and is working to undo the damage and which I believe the Paul-O-Meter should give him a little more credit) and welfare programs (he hasn't directly advocated ridding ourselves of Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid), he scored a four or five in the remaining criteria. He scored a five out of five on key areas such as Foreign Policy and Iraq, Government Spending, Privacy and Civil Liberties, Adherence to the Constitution, and, probably most important to a presidential hopeful, Ability to Spread the Liberty Message. I believe this score does reinforce the fact that Barr is a Libertarian and a good choice for the Libertarian Party.

I am in no way affiliated with Liberty Maven or the Ron Paul-O-Meter. I just wanted to pass on some promising information about Bob Barr to those liberty-minded fence sitters and uncommitted Ron Paul supporters still looking for a candidate to support.

Sorry, but Barr flunks the First Amendment test, and changes his 'score' from an 88 to a big phat whopping ZERO.

If that's true then McCain also fails the first amendment test (and much more seriously) so he would have to score -50.

If those "results" are true, then somebody else besides Bob Barr is lying here.

I also personally give Bob Barr a big fat ZERO for his zealous and continuous support on the War on Drugs alone.  I can smell a Neocon infiltrator a mile away and it's getting pretty stinky in here in the Libertarian camp.

More importantly to Libertarian purists, how do Ron Paul and Bob Barr rate on the Mary Ruwart-o-Meter? Or the Charles Jay-o-Meter? About the same and lower than you think I'd bet. And where does Chuck Baldwin fall? You make the call.

Yeah, let's abandon Paul's example of building a movement that more than 0.5% of voters can endorse and just pat ourselves on the back for being so pure. Go Ruwart! Go Jay! Now I can sleep well as long as I can stop thinking about how their candidacies won't change a damn thing for my kids.

Ok. So the meter measures you where you stand now and not five or ten years ago. BB has a tainted past. Would you rather have some one who admits their past failures and has changed their ways or not? BB has taken the LP mainstream. Clearly there are some people who are not happy with some aspect of this or that. Since Ron Paul abandonded the pursuit of the white house, Bob Barr is the next best thing and I am glad he is out there doing what he is doing, even if his fleece is not as white as snow.

I love to see the puritans howl.

Exactly what first amenmdent right has Barr violating? Religion? Speech? Press? Assembly? Petition of redress?

It amazes me that the puritanical wing of our party alwys must delve into intellectual dishonesty and personal perfidy in order to feel superior. My how their hypocracy is exposed. Do you not understand that lying is a form of fraud?

Oh wait...it is OK for the puritans to commit fraud......against anyone other than their own.
