Topic: Political Parties
SHOPPING FOR A POLITICAL PARTY IS LIKE SHOPPING FOR A CELL PHONE

Discussing the similarities in price shopping with picking a political party.

I have observed that a change has taken place over the last 15
years or so, where faithful customers of big companies, are often
getting a raw deal. When I was a younger, people found good
companies and stayed with them. The companies looked out for you and
respected your business, and their consumers were true blue. Mutual
respect was the norm. But now, if you've been with a company for
more than a year, chances are that new customers are getting a much
better deal, than you. How could this happen, shouldn't they take
care of their faithful customers first?

The truth is that they don't want their existing customers to
know they are getting the shaft. They want to keep their cash cows,
while focusing on great deals that will entice new customers. It's
to the point that a careful consumer should analyze every single bill
they have, and price shop often. Being "True blue" in today's world,
is only for pushovers. I have had to cancel accounts and re-open,
just to get the best price.

Well, it seems to me that the same thing is happening with
Partisan politics. Most folks will tell you that they're either a
Democrat or a Republican. Some have flip-flopped, but as a matter of
principle and integrity, most won't stray from their perceived
political party. However, since it's the age of the "true blues" get
the screw, I believe it's time for everyone to reassess their
political party, to be sure it still stands for what you now believe.

The Republican party, with George W. Bush, won in 2000, on a
platform of minimal international intervention. He won in 2004
because everyone said he needed to finish what he started. I suggest
that the Republican party has lost it's way, and a vote for McCain is
a vote for more excessive international intervention, more empire
building, with no thought towards reducing our national debt while
inflation continues to eat up our nest eggs.

The Democratic party is not much better at this time. Because
it's finally popular, perhaps Obama might get us out of Iraq in a few
years, but our descendants will still end up being saddled with
unsustainable debt, to pay for more social services.

The bottom line with these two parties, is that it will be
business as usual. Excessive governmental growth, imperialism,
inflation, debt and woes for our citizens. Yet these two parties
take up most of the citizenship, leaving only a small percentage to
vote differently. As a result, a third party candidate doesn't have
a realistic chance. The two party system is so ingrained in our
society, that it can't be overcome at this time.

My suggestion for any rational American is that you should be
periodically shopping your political party, like you would shop for a mobile phone
service. Assuming they're all crooks, until you find the one which
has currently covered all of your concerns, and doesn't bury you (or
your descendants) with excessive obligations and debt.
