New Yorker, Darius McCollum, faces charges from New York Mass Transit Department for posing as a transit authority. He had been seen collecting fares for the MTA, clearing trash from railways, and putting out underground fires. Many riders recall him as being very friendly and helpful.

One official for the MTA said of him, "We can't have someone giving the wrong impression to New Yorkers of the New York Transit Department(as friendly, helpful, and hard working)."

This is McCollum's 23rd arrest for posing as a transit authority. Volunteer work is apparently unacceptable at MTA.

"In the modern world we live in with unions and salaried workers we just can't have something like this," said a New Yorker. "You just never know when a union might go on strike. Paid public workers have certainly felt their positions under threat watching someone do their job for no pay."
