Well, it's over. At least according to Lew Rockwell. The Ron Paul campaign is over. As in he's out of the race, officially, when he announces such later tonight. This makes sense, really, there is not much more to gain by staying in the race now that the Primaries are over, and McCain's got the thing.
According to LRC, Paul will not, repeat not, be endorsing John McCain. Thank goodness for small favors. Obviously, he will remain active as he always has, through books, television, and of course the U.S. House of Representatives.
I for one would like to thank Dr. Paul for his efforts in opening so very many eyes, not just here, but around the world. I'd like to thank him for giving me the scantest sliver of hope that perhaps tyranny's path is not set in stone, and just maybe the idea of Freedom won't die. You did well, Dr. Paul.
Additionally, I want to thank Dr. Paul for his prudent action in leaving the race at this time. There are other worthy people who can and will pick up the banner, and who will have more success without the competition. Namely, Bob Barr, and to a lesser extent Chuck Baldwin. Now is the time to, as Emeril says, "Kick it up a notch!".

Now is the time to show the main stream press, the sycophants of tyranny and profiteers of strife and war, that the Paul campaign was not a "cult of personality" phenomenon, but rather the inherent desire for freedom that is endemic to the human condition-for better or worse. I hope.
The Barr campaign had this to say:
"Congressman Ron Paul has fought tirelessly in both the Libertarian Party and the Republican Party to minimize government power and maximize individual liberty. I want to thank him for all that he has done for liberty in this nation, and encourage him to continue his fight through whatever avenues he sees fit."
And Ron Paul had this to say about Bob Barr:
"He’s saying the things he should be saying. He’s joined the Libertarian Party and he presents these views and he talks our language. So I do really believe that he can have a very positive effect in this campaign and let the people know that limited government is a very, very important message and that people will have a chance. That gives everybody a choice in the matter."

Bob Barr is no Ron Paul. Hopefully down the road, if he continues his journey toward libertarianism, and shows Dr. Paul's humility and interest in focusing on the message.
Indeed, he is not-for one thing he has a mustache last seen in the 1983 sequal to Debbie does Dallas, the flop, Constance does Cleveland.
That being said, I'm for him. Call me pragmatic if you like, but I think, to paraphrase Don Rumsfeld in a way that I'm certain he'd not fully appreciate: you campaign for the politicians that you have, not the ones that you wish you had.
I'll give the man credit, for a war-monger, he could turn a phrase on occiasion.
Rep. Paul was right to not run in the general and keep his house seat-that voice is crucial.
From what I've seen and heard, Barr is doing the philosophy proud, granted the right side of it-as did Paul- and in places the Dr. Paul could never reach....such is the Pioneer's burden. Glenn Beck is apoplectic over his election decision, and Barr is in the mix-lest you forget, Paul people were "terrorists" to that......host. I've not forgotten, at least. I've no illusions about the motivation of talk show hosts at that level, but the press is great.
Starchild, we are the scant hope, the Beautiful Losers, we are Winston Smith yet unborn, and we cannot afford to turn our noses up at allies. Not ever.
