An update on the campaign...
As the regular readers of this column may know, in my last article I had resolved to "throw in the towel" on my congressional campaign (Illinois' 14th CD) because of the near impossibility of obtaining more than 11,000 ballot petition signatures by June 23rd. Hours after that article was posted, along came Trevor Lyman. For those who don't know Trevor, he is the guy who spearheaded the Ron Paul money bombs and the Ron Paul Blimp.
I'm very pleased to announce that Druck for Congress is now one of 16 pro-constitutional candidates selected for inclusion in Lyman's FreedomSlate08.com July 4th money bomb. As a result, we have hired an army of paid petitioners to collect the signatures required to get on the ballot. As our filing deadline is 12 days before the money bomb, we are rolling the dice in hopes that the donations we receive will cover the costs of the petitioning. In the mean time, I'm fronting most of the costs myself. (oh well... my kids didn't need their piggy banks anyway!)
And some say Ron Paul lost....
Some people have made the mistake of assessing Ron Paul's campaign only in terms of the outcome of the Republican presidential primary race. In reality, it has accomplished far more than that. It inspired a R3volution which has now shifted its focus toward other federal, state and local elections. FreedomSlate08 is an essential component of this most important next step. By providing a portal to these candidates, it focuses the efforts and support of the hundreds of thousands inspired by Ron Paul. This focus is essential to foster unity and cohesiveness within the movement.
I smell victory!!!
So, if a few or more of these candidates get elected, the R3volution will have borne tangible fruit. As one who has fought this battle for two decades, the prospect of actual victories proves to me that the pro-constitution movement has rounded the bend... and I'm certain it will only get better from here.
To those thousands who made so many sacrifices for Ron Paul's campaign, let not one of you think your past efforts were for naught. Every dollar donated to Ron Paul's campaign, every sign waived, and every slim jim handed out helped to grow our numbers, build unity, and bring us all together for this historic moment. It's time to once more show the world that freedom and liberty still beats strongly in the hearts of Americans from all walks of life. FreedomSlate08 is just the tool to make that happen. Please consider joining your fellow patriots and participate in this money bomb. No contribution is too small because, with so many participating, it will all add up to victory!!
