The following press release came to us today from Ron Paul 2008 headquarters:
ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA An Inspector General's report released today finds that over 12,000 weapons in Iraq including pistols, assault rifles, rocket propelled grenades and machine guns worth approximately $1 billion, have gone missing. In response, Ron Paul issued the following statement:
"It is deeply disturbing that thousands of weapons paid for by American taxpayers are unaccounted for. These weapons could find their way into the hands of those wanting to do harm to American soldiers.
"Once again, this unwise and unnecessary war is having the unintended consequence of damaging our national security. It is time to bring our troops home and out of harm's way."
No further comment upon the Inspector General's report is necessary, except to say the government's level of irresponsibility is a disgrace.

Actually, I've read articles that say that they've been sold to terrorist factions.I wish I could remember who wrote it, but some digging around the net should bring it to light.
But of course we're led to believe, with pseudo-anecdotal evidence if any at all, that Iran is supplying all those weapons that are killing US troops.
And those pallets upon pallets of some 190,000 AK-47s and other weapons under US control just disappeared into thin air back in '05.
And Paul Bremer simply had a multi-billion dollar "oopsy" moment or two; that's all!
One incident=logistical mistake, at best. A trend of innumerable "foul-ups" that are costing tens of billions in US taxpayer dollars=treacherous fraud, in the very least.
As a long suffering taxpayer I feel that I should be entitled to an assult rifle or at the very least a pistol, since the Government is buying them with my money only to throw them away. Some rocket propelled grenades or a machine gun would be extra cool, but I'm not holding my breath. Odd that Iraqis get to have them courtesy of the US, yet my own government doesn't want me to have any of those things. I guess that's what the administration meant when they were talking about bringing freedom to the Iraqi people. Oh, the irony.
The real irony will come when they turn them on the us legally defenceless citizens. Those who turn swords into ploughs will inevitably plow for those who did not.
