Optical Illusions Explained

If only that same mechanism would allow people to recognize the illusion when their actions result in a reality that doesn't match the anticipated results generated in their minds. Instead, in these parallel non-optical situations, rationalization kicks in to provide a mechanism for dismissing the gap between expectations and reality. Humans are strange and wonderful...mostly strange. ;-)
