RPR: MO Caucus Coup Update

rEVOLution delegates struggle with power-hungry GOP insiders...

Hello Freedomphiles! Remember theMissouri Caucus Coup about which I've been writing, where Ron Paul supporters went to the Missouri Caucuses to vote their own delegates in, hopefully to change the platform of the Missouri Republican Party, among other things?

They did quite well, if you recall, nabbing a full third of the delegates in the vote. The entrenched GOP was so angry about it, they actually walked out of the meeting in St Charles, MO.

They didn't stop there, though, playing all kinds of games. For example, Jared Craighead, executive director of the Missouri Republican Party, refused to release the delegate lists and final tallies to the Paul campaign, waiting until just hours before the deadline to contest the results.

But that's not all. When the delegates were to be confirmed, the MOGOP simply disqualified half of them and created a new slate called the "Faithful Republican Slate."

Well, now The Saint Louis Post Dispatch is reporting that certain rEVOLution insiders are requesting the feds look into these actions:

Political Fix just received a most intriguing e-mail, stating that "the FBI was mailed the firstof many letters to come, requesting a formal investigation into the unethical and illegal practices of a faction of the Missouri Republican Partythat have disenfranchised so many properly elected delegates by challenging them without basis."

Claiming that the letter "was written by a former private investigator," the anonymous e-mailer asserts that similar letters are being sent to other federal and state agencies.

"Jared Craighead, Executive Director of the Missouri GOP will also receive his letter tomorrow, alerting him to the formal investigation," the e-mailer said.

Now, I am not sure what the ends are to all this, because state political parties can set their own rules. It'll no doubt be an interesting situation to follow, at any rate.
