In his new bestseller The Revolution: A Manifesto, Ron Paul warns Americans that "Given the overseas ambitions of so much of our political class, a return of the draft may actually be closer than we realize."
Is THIS the last straw that would wake Americans up from their slumber? What if your loved ones (men and women) received their letters for a call of "duty" within the next year?
Dr. Paul is right. Somebody is fighting these wars. He claims this is the reason "the military draft is being spoken about more and more," going on to say that the current military is being stretched to their limits, "...we have something like a de facto draft already, what with all the extensions being imposed on our troops."
We cannot allow our neoconservative government continue to abuse this country and reinstate a draft. Here is a nice article written by Paul Abrams of the Huffington Post on March, 1, 2008 about the probability of a draft should John McCain become the next President: [link edited for length].
Note: There has been no military draft since 1973.
In November 2006 Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., called for reinstating the draft as a way to end the Iraq war which was shot down adamantly by Pelosi.: [link edited for length].
On December 19, 2006 Scott Campbell announced plans for a "readiness exercise" to test the system's operations in 2009, for the first time since 1998: [link edited for length]
On August 10, 2007 Lieutenant General Douglas Lute recommended a draft to relieve stress on the Army's all-volunteer based force: [link edited for length]
Selective Service System (SSS) registration information says that "Undocumented (illegal) aliens" and Physically Handicapped individuals who are "Able to function in public with or without assistance" must register with the SSS: [link edited for length]

Why is it that the american people are so willing to let the sons of america commit crimes of war in Iraq and Afghanistan? Why are the american people want to kill the muslim? When are the American soldiers going to stop killing Muslim children in Iraq and Afghanistan? When will the western Imperialist media stop backing Israel and start reporting the truth about Islam?
Oh please Asref are you that blind to your people's actions and motives? Your people are the ones who are tortuous savages. And you should be ashamed of yourself for stating your comments if you are currently living in the United States and if you think we are such bad people go back to your own country and help put those animals away. Sadly, Asref is pretty much right. Take some time to read up on some of the things mr. Yousef said, you'll be surprised at what you find =) - attacking someone with knowledge of only one side of the coin only perpetuates hate and violence.
Notice I'm not saying he is 100% right and his word is law, I am only saying there is more here than what meets the eye.
Peace and Love everyone, as humans we can all work together. Hate ends where Love begins.
Oh please John, are you blind to your people's actions and motives? You people are the ones that launch pre-emptive, immoral wars of aggression against a country that did not attack you. You people are the ones that allowed your President and his administration to lie you into war playing on your fears and desire for revenge. You should be ashamed of yourself for denying and denigrating people for posting their opinions on this forum. I suppose you think of yourself as a patriot that would defend America and the constitution upon which it stands. And, yet, free speach only seems to apply to those that you agree with.
Asref comments and questions above are imflamatory and discomforting, and yet, in the realm of exchanging ideas on a blog, do we not owe it to ourselves to try and understand why Asref is asking these questions? What truth if any under pins his world view? We are a free people that should not be afraid to peer at ourselves in the mirror from time to time and try to see ourselves as the rest of the world would see us.
Almost 80% of Americans are against the war. We know it's immoral and our own President, who most Americans want impeached, has admitted this week on national tv that it was a mistake. Yet, the corruption in government here has reached a gargantuan proportion.
There are many many many Americans who are working tirelessly to try to change the political spectrum. They are fighting against fraudulent voting machines that are rigged and continue to put people in office that are not elected by the people. They are working against a mass media propaganda machine being pumped into houses with stories that our own legal system says don't even have to be true!
It's as easy for you to hate Americans because they "allow" this to happen as it is for mis-informed Americans to hate you when our food supply is poisoned, our water is poisoned, and there has been a massive attempt to brainwash the public. Believe me, I get very upset with people for not waking up to what's going on.
What you have to realize is that the American public has been under attack by their own government for the past century. There are many of us who are trying to stop the tide and could use the support of people around the world. We know what's happening - we know of the camps being set up all over the country for "domestic terrorists".
So get off your high horse about all those bad Americans and help us fight for a peaceful world. Those in power in America are the criminals, not the average American who's been drugged and poisoned.
Great post Texas Patriot. I for one am tired also and feel like people aren't listening because of the image they already have from the MSM of Ron Paul. However, I will continue to help fight the fight and turn the tide...I think there are more of us fighting than we know because of all the lies in the MSM. Imagine if we knew how many people really voted for him....

You don't need a book to receive proper education in this day and age- even if it's the Ron Paul rEVOLutionaries' Bible. It simply isn't necessary. You don't read books to pick up convictions. You are here cause you already have one. You are here because you already know of the neocon war machine, and wish to stop it.
Shameless plugging of Ron Paul's book reduces your credibility.

Dear Asref Yousef, I am doing all I can to get us out of there. The American people aren't doing the killing myself, but there are a lot of us who recognize whats going on. So sorry for all the death. This all goes back to Versailles in 1919.

Dr. Paul's book is extremely IMPORTANT and it is NOT just being plugged.
If you are a TRUE PATRIOT you will understand what we mean. If we ALL purchased Dr. Paul's new book in bulk, and mailed them to Delegeates other than Ron Paul Delegates, we can get the MESSAGE out to the ones that truly count at the Convention.
The site below has Chip-Ins on it to do just that and even more.

But you admit it's being plugged... and what makes this book more substantive than the others that he has published in the past? They are probably more credible too, and indeed go a lot more in depth than the 'Manifesto'.

Of course, it's the either-this or-that logic. Buying a book and shipping off to a delegate does not automatically make you a patriot.
But if that is your goal, then perhaps you should write an article that explains a bit more. Can't be bothered to do that? Well then, maybe you shouldn't just go around defending other people's shameless tie-ins so blindly yourself.
I don't object to buying the book for someone new to the message such as a delegate, or as a symbolic gesture (if you're already an RP supporter) if that's what your insinuating. But what the author suggested was that we must buy this book to learn why to oppose the draft. That is a complete fallacy. It suggests Ron Paul is the only trustworthy source on matters such as these.
Think for yourself for a minute here: how much legitimate support has the book gotten for the movement? You don't spread freedom by regurgitating the message to supporters. That's called preaching to the choir. But evidence to the contrary is unquantifiable.
So by all means, continue your drive, and I may in fact support, but don't be so naive as to assume that those who may have reservations about buying it makes them unpatriotic or traitors or whatever you meant to say (but didn't for good reason).
LoL is all I have to say. WE ARE AT WAR AND BOTH SIDES HAVE THEIR PROS AND CONS of WAR. THE UGLIES OF WAR PEOPLE AND THESE ACTIONS OCCUR DURING WAR. Yousef states the americans do this and the americans do that HOW about the people CHOPPING OFF U.S. Soldiers heads off ?? How about the innocent men women and children killed on 9/11? How about those media people that try to SHOW THE UGLIES OF WAR over there that DISAPPEAR? We only look at his right to express himself? Forget that my "FELLOW AMERICANS" lol THIS COUNTRY IS BEING RUN BY a TooL, this is a fact but there is no reason to bad mouth AMERICANS. BLAME THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT that would make me feel MUCH Better Because no matter how much we as citizens vote and try to make things better this country is way out of hand as far as government making decisions that makes all of us look stupid.
