The New York Times is reporting today that Republicans are having a hard time with the election season. Apparently, associating themselves with George W. Bush is hurting their ability to get elected.
Who'd have thought?
There isn't anything new or exciting to this tidbit of news until you read the part about how candidates have to campaign based on who they are rather than who they're with. That's right. Republicans can't get their offices for being Christian or supporting the Occupation. They have to genuinely be conservatives. The establishment can't save them now.
If ever there was a time for the Ron Paul Republicans, this would be it. Libertarians have a golden opportunity here. It'll be interesting to see if they take it.

Not this election year, you can be sure. Otherwise the base would generally be trying to re-invent itself. It's not. They're still neocon, corporate-fascists who use religion and democracy as militant rhetoric. They always will be.
But where they will stand still, the true conservatives and libertarians as you mentioned will move forward. Here, they have a shot at winning in 2010 and 2012, pending they continue to make in-roads into preaching freedom to the masses.
Exactly. Here's the trick of it. You have to believe that change can and is happening. Otherwise, if the Neocons are always going to be there and be in power, why even bother to work against them?
Absolutamente! The radical Left is trying to paint Ron Paul and Sara Palin (to name but two,) as being extreemist who stand not a chance of election, but considering the populist response to Ron Pauls movement to audit the Fed, there just may be a Consevitive/ Libertarian/ Classical Liberal backlash in 2010. For the sake of my Nation I hope so.
I incourage every thinking person to read Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg. Everything you thought you knew about Fascism is probably wrong.
