The Revolution has already Begun Its time to pick Ron Paul's successor who can best lead the revolution into the white house in 2008.by John Crosley

As a Ron Paul supporter and someone who wants to return government to the constitutional limits I am encouraged by the support of the message of freedom. Americans want to be free. Over the last few months, I've had conversations and read emails from strong supporters of Obama and John McCain. Deep down inside, I've felt it, they know something is wrong. Don't get me wrong, they support their republicrat choice and if I were like them I would too. Its tough to decide which candidate will make the right decisions on what to do with your money, how to raise your kids and when to take away your privacy. Every American knows that there has to be a better way. Because of Ron Paul a revolution has started to return to that better way. A way William Wallace best described in one word, FREEDOM.
To continue this march towards our freedom we must choose a successor to Ron Paul that will get enough support to get into the debates and be strong enough to win them. This candidate must foremost be unwavering in the message of freedom and liberty to all Americans. But we can't just pick anyone. We need to be strategic.
First Step- Picking a party
Two parties share the message of liberty and limited government, the Libertarian Party and the Constitutional Party. While I agree with a good portion of the Constitutional's parties platform, I believe the platform alienates voters that aren't Christians and has no realistic chance of making a serious national impact, let alone a revolution. So, that leaves the very sound Libertarian Party platform.
Second Step- Picking a candidate
Many think that the big household name is the way to go. But, just because a person is well known doesn't mean he is well liked, hence Bob Barr. Also, the Libertarian Party is getting way more attention than ever before as over a million Ron Paul voters look for a candidate that meets thier views. Lets immediately scratch Mike Gravel's name of the list of potential candidates as I believe that he is a big government socialist just using the Libertarian Party for ballot access. My next point is key and I know many won't agree because I am playing identity politics, but I believe we should choose a woman. Think about it, once Hillary loses, which she will, where do you think those votes go? Close to half of Hillary's supporters say they won't vote for Obama and I can't see many Hillary supporters voting for McCain, who Hillary said would just be a third term for George Bush. Many Hillary supporters picked her as their candidate because of Identity politics. We know this because they could have just as easily supported Obama who is running a campaign identical on all the issues. So between Ron Paul supporters, Hillary's rejects and the Libertarian Party itself there is a nice base of support to spread the message of freedom to the half of the nation that stopped voting because they were disenfranchised by our war starting, socialism-lite style government.
And Then There Were Two.
Christine Smith and Mary Ruwart are the only candidates that fit this strategic plan for a Revolution. I looked into each of these candidates extensively and in Mary Ruwart I found an exploitable weakness like the death star but much easier to attack. Mary Ruwart is against the outlawing of Child Pornography.
In her words:
"Children who willingly participate in sexual acts have the right to make that decision as well, even if it's distasteful to us personally. Some children will make for choice is just as some adults do in smoking and drinking to excess; this is part of life.
What we outlaw child pornography, if the prices paid for child performers rise, increasing the incentives for parents to use children against their will."
This would never fly with me or the American public. She is not for Liberty, she is for Anarchy. She is a self-proclaimed Anarchist.
So that leaves us with Christine Smith, who I am covering last but she is definitely not the least. I have decided that I believe she is the absolute best choice to serve as the successor to Ron Paul in leading this revolution into the White House. Most Ron Paul supporters haven't yet decided on whom to support. They are waiting for something. There is no more time to wait. We need to be proactive. Christine Smith is a candidate that represents our ideals and I believe has the best chance to actually win this election.
Is this a true Revolution? Do you really believe it is? Then we can take the White House this year. We just need to be smart, enthusiastic, hard workers at spreading the message of freedom. The smartest choice for us to do that with is Christine Smith for President.
I urge everyone reading this to check out her site (http://libertarianforpresident.com), watch some of the videos, read her points. She needs the help of the grassroots. We now have only 2 weeks to show the Libertarian Party who the Revolution wants as their nominee. Are you with me?

I like Christine Smith quite a bit but I feel you are far too quick to label Mike Gravel as a socialist using the party for ballot access. (Are we supposed to refrain from personal attacks? I just agreed to do that when I joined this website.) I also am starting to feel as someone closely involved with the Ron Paul movement that it is unrealistic for us to rely to heavily on Ron Paul supporters for assistance to our party. The fact is that the movement has kind of turned Ron Paul into an icon that they would rather write into a ballot that won't be counted rather then help any other party. They would rather fight with the Republican party that clearly does not want them then take the fight elsewhere. It's hard to even get them to divert their attention to other like minded congressional or senate candidates. Let alone diverting attention away from a presidential race that arguably was over a long time ago.
The lines you quoted were based on the LP platform at that time, and the same plank existed when Ron Paul ran in 1988 as the LP presidential candidate.
It is no longer in the LP platform, as it led to misunderstandings similar to yours. Dr. Ruwart was referring primarily to teenagers who have relations with each other, and to laws against possession (which ought to frighten anyone who doesn't know every file on their computer, and isn't certain they've never downloaded a file that might contain a separate hidden picture).
Dr. Ruwart also was endorsed by Ron Paul to be FDA Commissioner in 2002, and Dr. Paul gave a rave review to her libertarian primer, Healing Our World, which is on the back cover of her book.
She is quite worthy to carry the banner of the Revolution, notwithstanding a few disagreements with Paul of which both are aware.
Thanks for your comments, I appreciate the feedback. I will try to answer some of them.
First Neil, I added the words "I believe" before my statement to lessen the impact, I don't know Mike Gravel's heart, he could have completely pure motives for switching to LP. His views on putting more money into government education scare me. He has mentioned making "education top priority". I apologize if I crossed the line, this was my front article here, I'm not used to holding back my opinion.
"it is unrealistic for us to rely to heavily on Ron Paul supporters for assistance to our party"
I disagree, I think eventually (and he has started this already) RP will guide people to vote for the message not simply him. Also, once McCain is official they will seek another option. I highly doubt there is a massive write-in RP vote come November.
rtbohan, "I believe you were not just in your presentation of Mary Ruwart."
I like Mary Ruwart a lot. But, she is an anarchist. She has stated this. Her views reflect this and I don't think they would translate into votes. If her following ever got to the point where the media outlets paid any attention to her, her view on child pornography would completely destroy her. Not only that but people would label the LP as the party that wants to legalize Child Pornography. This is not an attack on her, but her viability. I understand the rationale behind her stance.
Less, Mary clearly uses the word Children and her message about legalizing child pornography is clear. I don't think I misconstrued it. It sounds from what I've read as these are her personal views on the matter. If you have something that refutes this, I would love to see it and would love to have my opinion changed on this matter.
The Ron Paul R3volution started very simply. A man had a message. Thanks to the still free internet many were able to learn that-- Finally!! At last!! A man who wants to see the USA return to Constitutional government. Simple unassuming older man with a message that resonates though out the land with those of us who are sick to death of creeping fascism/socialism/communism. Pick a name. Remembering that when oppressive, self serving, bloated, power hungry treasonous government takes hold the label won't matter.
That Obummer, Billery or McLame has any support at all tells me that some body some where is going around whacking people with a big stupid stick. What has the USA come to??? These CFR members will sell the US out just like Bush & most preceding Presidents. They will continue the treason of 1913. They will keep the war going. Their CFR handlers will see top that.
Speaking of running a Ron Paul supporter female candidate for Prez. have you considered Sydney Hay? She is a Ron Paul gal. I think Ron Paul has endorsed her, something to check out.
The taxpayer's Union likes her. She can't be all bad!
Remember! It's the message more than the man. The message will outlast Ron Paul.
:-)
Chuck Baldwin! Yeah! I can behind him. He is gung ho Ron Paul. Same kind of Christian Patriot.
Did you know that now under big brother's fascism we will probably all be labeled Super Patriots & be put on a watch list? Consider--
" Are You a 'Super' Patriot?" By Ron Ewart, President NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF RURAL LANDOWNERS Copyright March 15, 2008 - All Rights Reserved
You had better run for cover if you are a right-wing 'super' patriot. The FBI could be looking over your shoulder right now and watching your every move. If you don't think so, then see what FBI Director, Robert F. Mueller, had to say in a speech before the U. S. Senate Committee on Intelligence, on February 16, 2005. In his speech he spoke these words: However, the right-wing Patriot movement -- consisting of militias, common law courts, tax protesters, and other anti-government extremists -- remains a continuing threat in America today. Sporadic incidents resulting in direct clashes with law enforcement are possible and will most likely involve state and local law enforcement personnel, such as highway patrol officers and sheriff's deputies.
But you say that you are not an extremist. Well consider this. There was this little flier put out by the FBI a few years ago to local law enforcement that indicated those who believe in the U. S. Constitution were a threat to national security. No! We are not kidding. See for yourself. The flier is attached as a JPEG file with our annotation in red. We who believe in the U. S. Constitution and believe that the UN is undermining our very sovereignty, the FBI calls us SUPER PATRIOTS and we are on a to-be-watched list. " (end quote)
Yo! People! It is later than you think! We need someone like Ron Paul or Chuck Baldwin in the White House.
