♣ Dr. Ron Paul has a simple cure for inflation. It is so simple, in fact, that the entire text could almost be printed on a Post-It note. He's introduced HR 2756, also known as the "Honest Money Act."
The bill, simply stated (and it IS simply stated) would repeal the federal "legal tender" laws that give the federal reserve bank a monopoly on money. This would immediately allow competition because you and I would no longer be required by law to accept federal reserve notes as payment of debts.
Imagine that! A congressional bill with a name that actually tells you what the bill is about!
Imagine that! A bill in the best interest of the people, not politicians and special interest groups!
And so, how can you help Dr. Paul in this matter? There is a marvelously creative and energetic organization that is working to that end. It is called Downsize DC. The folks at Downsize have perhaps the most encouraging approach to political action that I have seen in recent years. They have, among other advances, recognized the nature of the "two-party" game and have developed an effective way to mobilize the masses without appealing to partisan spirit.
For the purposes of this article, Downsize DC has a web-based mechanism already in place that enables you to send a message to both of your senators and to your congressman in one fell swoop! You have a one-time overhead of registering at the Downsize DC website, after which you can weigh-in with your legislators on the "Honest Money Act" with a few simple clicks. Of course, you'll probably also want to support other federal "fat reduction" measures like the "Read The Bills Act" (another one of those "what it says" bills.)
Take a few minutes today, and show your support for Dr. Paul's new legislation, and at the same time get to know a fine organization that is working for a better country through less federal government!
