The is an update on the suddenly suspended Republican State Convention in Nevada. The party is planning to go forward, the Paul supporters appear enthusiastic and maybe at last the job will be finished.

After the abrupt adjournment of the Republican State Convention in Nevada, there were a great many rumors on the web, and there was a great deal of criticism of both the party leadership for walking out and the Ron Paul delegates for forceing an open selection of delegates to the national convention.

The Party today has clarified, not so much what happened, but what will happen from here. Sue Lowden, the Chairman of the Nevada Republican Party, has stated that a new location for the convention to continue will be found as soon as possible so that the delegates who were in Reno can complete their work. (www.nevadagop.org).

Bob Beers, the State Senator who was presiding and announced the suspension of the clection, has also made a statement on what will happen next.(www.beers4nevada.org). He expects the delay before the reconvening of the convention to be more than a week, which will allow time for the nominating committee to prepare a list of candidates. He promises a transparent and quick method for selecting the delegates to the national convention, and emphasises that the same delegates will be involved.

There was little notice of the new information in the press. The general tone seemed to be that the party should have been prepared and that the party, having involved voters in the process, should be more prepared to listen to them. Erin Neff, a columnist in the LasVegas Review Journal had harsh words about the Paul supporters, but concluded that the McCain people had no one to lame but themselves for beiung out-organized. At this point it appears that the party and the Paul supporters will be able to reach an equitable solution to Sunday's fiasco. But keep watching

What I think will happen is that they'll recruit some of the 2800 or so delegates that didn't show to the first convention to show up at the reconvened convention and Paul supporters will be greatly outnumbered...thus we'll probably only elect the 7 delegates already elected from the congresional districts.

Thanks for the update.  What happens next is meaningful in many ways.

From what I've seen so far in the amount of corruption that has taken place already, the Ron Paul Champaign will probably see this kind of a reaction in most states and at the National Convention.

The sad part is that very little if any of it will be televised, considering American Liberty TV is not the air as of yet.

What happened in Nevada is an absolute abomination. The Paul supporters were organized and played by all the rules. When the party establishment saw that its candidate's delegates were getting trounced, it stopped the process and went home. This will give the McCain supporters time to organize their own slate of delegates. I predict that when the convention reconvenes, every single delegate spot that has yet to be voted on will go to a McCain delegate.

Kipper:

I expect that something will go on to stop Ron Paul in every state, even if it is just making sure that the opposing delegates are better briefed and organized so that such blatant behavior is not necessary.

Allen:

You may be right, but that is the reason we need to keep an eye on it.  Until something happens, however, let's not jump the gun in making charges.

Bad link. Could you correct?

Seems like it is an out-of-rules move to toss it back to a nominating committee to select a new slate, when the balloting process for nominees had already started on the floor of the convention itself. After the convention comes out of recess, the proper course is to finish the balloting.

Parliamentary Rules are like the Constitution of conventions, and must be respected - there's a clear process, of course, for changing the rules, but the required dialogue between convention attendees and the Rules themselves is what is both efficient, fair, and proper. Constitutionalists respect that dialogue - you'd think that all Republicans respect the Constitution, so let's hope this stalled convention process restarts properly.

I wish Ron Paul would see the futility in trying to change the Republican Party from within.  I think he can do so much more for the cause by accepting the Libertarian Party nomination.  I think it would be a far different experience than 1988.

I would like to point out that if they get a week to reorganize, with the RP supporters already organized they will just be revitalized to continue the fight for the Republican Delegates to National.

Just because they call a time out to regroup does not count the RP supporters out, they know the rules, and they know what it will take to win. The GOP leadership knows what they are up against and they are scared. Now may be a good time to sound the Charge. :-)

Hope for the Future, The American People.

Thanks to Dr. Paul for waking up so many.
