RPR: A Call to Arms for Ron Paul Supporters!

The GOP is continuing its efforts to subvert democracy.

Hello Freedomphiles! I got a message from Hawaiian Congressional candidate and Hawaii Assistant State Coordinator for Paul08 Daniel Brackins (who I interviewed in The Freedom Files) about some shenanigans being pulled by the Hawaii State GOP.

It seems that they are doing their best to marginalize Ron Paul and disenfranchise his supporters. Perhaps his 16% finish in Pennsylvania buckled their knees a litte?

Ron Paul says thanks, by the way:

[link edited for length]

Anyway, so the Hawaii GOP started first by removing Ron Paul from its website, listing McCain as the nominee already, even though they haven't yet chosen their nominee. They do this at a Caucus on May 16th.

Now the delegates to the caucus are chosen locally to be sent to the Hawaii State Republican Convention. They are independent and free to vote for whomever they choose in the National Convention, as long as that person is in the race:

Except by their own commitments, National Delegates and Alternates shall not be required to support any particular candidate for the Republican nomination for President or Vice President. Candidates for delegate or alternate to the National Convention may run committed to a particular candidate for the Republican nomination for President or Vice President. Provided the candidate the delegate or alternate is supporting has not withdrawn prior to the first ballot at the National Convention, the commitment to that candidate shall be binding, but only through the first ballot.

But before they get to the National Convention, they have to go to the Hawaii Convention, and they can't vote for someone who has withdrawn from the race. So, why are they telling people that Ron Paul is not in the race?

But its more than the website. They are making an end-run around Paul supporters by actually calling the delegates to the State Convention and lying to them, trying to subvert democracy by telling them that McCain is the only one in the race.

Brackins asks that if you can find the time, help him fight this disinformation propaganda campaign by calling some of the delegates yourself and letting them know they've been lied to. Here is a list of the delegates.

He also reccommends you email Willis Lee, the chairman of the Hawaii State GOP, and tell him to put Ron Paul back on the website.

First, they disenfranchise the MO Ron Paul delegates, now this.

Look, whether you're a Ron Paul supporter or not, you should support this effort in the name of fair and open elections. No matter how much of a chance you think he has in the presidential race, he's still in the race, and the GOP should not be playing these dirty games. This is about the principles of representative government and honest elections.

This is about what's right.

RS,

Thanks for this article and the research and work that went into it!

The GOP leadership is bought and paid for, no doubt.

"Here is a list of the delegates.

Sorry, I am not familiar with Hawaii, but it seems their delegates have already been chosen?   Yet their caucus is not until May 16th?   If the delegates are already chosen and support Ron Paul then they should know that he is still in, no?     Am I missing something here?   Thanks for any clarification!

The local delegates have been selected and will be sent to the state convention, and they can vote for anyone still running.  If they were chosen and want to vote for Ron Paul, they can - but the Hawaii GOP is calling them all and telling them that Ron Paul dropped out of the race.

Essentially, they are trying to trick them into voting McCain.

Probably they all live in the 21st century and can contact via the internet with each other and all delegates can see and read what is actually going on.

These Hawai Lees must quit!

Sue them!

I just sent an email to the address you referenced.  I know that the State of Hawaii depends on tourism dollars for their economy.  It would really be a shame to have to boycott their state.  However, sometime the public needs a little prodding to vote out the crooks.  Are there any RP candidates running for office in Hawaii?

Peace to all.

Yep when a candidate is running as strong as McCain is, why even have a caucas? But it doesn't matter Ron Paul didn't even win his own district. Ron Paul seems to be more popular outside his home town than he is in it.

The GOP in Georgia has an absolute blackout of Ron Paul...I know, I've been a delegate to the state conventions. Its terrible here. The bigshots won't even mention his name...and they never let others speak at all.  Georgia also has non-verifiable voting.

The revolution continues!

While the efforts of those involved in over-taking the present day Republican Party are indeed noteworthy, we must heed the warnings of the founders with respect to entrenched political parties.   Jefferson and Washington warned of the bain, the abject tyranny of major status quo political parties.

I cannot fathom why the endless pussy-footing with the gop nomination process.  The party bosses would turn to the rosters of the senate and Paul's colleagues in the House before the party selected  Paul to be their standard bearer.  Now is the time for Paul to toss his hat into the 3rd Party ring.  It is the only way you and I and millions of Americans can vote for him in November 2008.  He's got the horses in the stable, the volunteers that is, his $6 million in the bank could easily soar to over $50 million in a matter of weeks.  The freedom movement cannot afford to sit out another cycle with no-name candidates put out year after year by the LP or CP.  Ron Paul is a known and increasingly nationally recognized quantity.   He is the movements point guard.  He is the freedom movements quarterback.  He needs to get onto the field and fight for those ideals he stands for.  He's going back to Congress anyway, he might as well make the good fight one more time.  We all know he'll open the eyes of millions of more people.  The country is all but lost.  I see no one I'd rather rally around that Dr. No.

I urge everyone to call Carol Paul and Ron Paul.  Write handwritten letters, plus email, and call his offices in Texas and D.C.  Its now up to you!

Their website has a link to write letters/emails to all the newspapers in Hawaii. I say we saturate them with emails and tell them what the GOP is trying to do!

This post angered me so much that I emailed Willis Lee with the following message:

TO:  Willis Lee, Hawaii Republican Party

Hello Mr. Lee,

There is buzz starting to circulate the internet and I would like to get clarification from you.

Is it true that the Hawaii Republican Party is telling delegates and prospective delegates that Ron Paul is no longer in the race for President?  Do you have people telling the delegates that McCain has won the nomination and that they must support him for unity?

Here is the article that started this buzz -

If this is true, please be advised that this nonsense does not contribute toward unity.  Trying to unite the party under false pretenses does not contribute to unity, just as asking the Party to unite behind a communist does not lead toward a better country or a better party.

I have been a Republican for 40 years.  I have consistently supported traditional Republican concepts for that entire time.  By smearing the only legiminate candidate who supports small government, you contribute toward a major loss for the Republican Party in November.  News of these tactics will spread like wildfire. McCain cannot and will not win in NOVEMBER if you disenfranchise the supporters of his Primary opponent.

Please let me know if this is much about nothing.

Gene Louis

One of McCain's state staffers is annoyed at this shenanigans, as well.

I copied the Email list and sent this letter to each email. It now is 3:36 AM, I need some sleep.

Delegates,

My Name is Tim and a delegate to the Minnesota state convention. I am hearing rumors from the mainland you are being told Ron Paul is not running for president any more. This rumor if told you is not true.

Ron Paul continues his campaign and just Saturday 4/26/08 spoke to the Nevada State Convention as a Keynote speaker. Last Tuesday Ron Paul received 16% of Pennsylvania’s closed primary votes.

Please Visit www.ronpaul2008.com and discover some other upcoming events Ron is participating in. Ron needs folks like you to vote your convictions and not party line. Ron Paul is a true conservative and the only one left in the race.

For 30 years, I have looked for a real statesman like Ron Paul so I could vote my conviction and not hold my nose voting for the lesser of two evils while voting in November national elections.

I do hope you take some time, read Ron Paul's new book “The Revolution a Manifesto”, visit his web site, check his voting record. Ron Has the endorsement of Jane Doe of Rowe verses Wade among many other well-known folks, and is very knowledge of economics? Just look through U-tube and visit his web site.

Then vote your convictions not convenience or popularity at the Hawaii State Convention. Join “We the People” in Minnesota and give America a real conservative choice in November.

Thanks for your time

Tim Utz

Joni...Lloyd Kempson is a juvenile, nothing more. He has, time and again, proved, by both his comments and his feeble attempt at writing, that he lacks the acumen for formulate a single intellectual thought or express such thoughts in a reasonable and logical manner. He is like that miniscule stone in your shoe, irritating but of no real consequence. It is hard to ignore that continuing irritation, but just like the tiny stone in your shoe, soon you just take your shoe off and toss the pebble out.
