Tears of Sadness

Reports are out that our Veterans are still being denied health care to the point that suicide seems to be the only answer.

While we have seen the death toll from the war rise on a daily basis over the last few years to over 4000 it is being reported today that the disability rate for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars are now at 200,000. Many of those with injuries so severe that they that amputations were necessary and yet many more with mental illnesses caused by the evils of war.

The new studies are now being released that say the suicide rate for veterans of these wars is a heartbreaking 18 per day or over 120 per week. That far exceeds the death rate from the actual fighting alone.

According to a report in the SF Chronicle, veterans are still to this day being denied heath care for their injuries and are being forced to sue the Government to receive urgent care.

From the SF Chronicle:

Justice Department lawyer Richard Lepley countered that the VA runs a "world-class health care system." He said the changes the plaintiffs seek in their lawsuit - better and faster mental health care, and more rights for veterans appealing denials of benefits - are beyond the judge's authority.

"Of course we're obliged to provide health care," Lepley said, but "the court does not have standards to determine the speed or the scope or the level of that care."

Well then tell me, who does and why the hell aren't they doing their job? And by the way Lepley, "YOUR FIRED!"

That's the way our self-proclaimed "patriotic" government, that talks down anti-war protesters, supports our troops. Good job guys!

President Bush keeps asking Congress for more and more money to dump into the wars for more bombs to kill more people and yet allows the VA to deny those with injuries from receiving the care they so desperately need. As usual they keep passing-the-buck to the point that many of our wounded veterans are unjustifiably resorting to killing themselves instead of dealing with another branch of our failed government.

When will this madness stop?

VIEW POINT:

This war, like all wars, SUCKS!

BRING THE TROOPS HOME NOW!

The Death rate and Mental health issues that car crash, gun shot, alcohol, drugs, fast food, and suicide victims have is the biggest reason that I support government interventionism to ban all of those things. With all of the death and mental illness that those things cause we need to ban them. We can not be a safe society until we get rid of the voluntary choices that might harm us.

Last I checked there was not an ongoing draft for the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars, so all of these guys chose to be over there. Let us face it if these guys didn’t want to take the possibility of getting killed or injured they should not have joined the military. If any of you did not want to take the chance of getting injured or killed, then you probably should not have been born in the first place. Humans are not immortal, so quit pussifying voluntary troops. Do you care about all of the enemy combatants, insurgents, or terrorists who risk their life and mental health to advance their political agenda too? If not, then feel free to start being equal and fair here.

If so then you should call for them to pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan too. Oh, I don’t here anything except a pin drop. http://www.nolanchart.com/article3415.html

The VA is the best health care system in America.  I have dealt with Community Health, Private Insurance, SSI, SocSec Disability, Medicaid, and even England's NHS, .  The VA is the best of all our horrible medical insurance plans and they do a great job with helping their veterans get medical attention.  I am in a smaller state, and I'm unsure if this is the case in other states, and I am also unsure about major operations, but the VA system here is very impressive, enough to make me want to have a job with the VA.

The VA is dropping some of its Master's Degree Qualifications for Case Management, Mental Health Case Workers/Per Diem, and VA Homeless Case Manager positions.  They are opening up positions to those with a Bachelor's and some experience.  There is a tremendous need for Case Managers for our vets coming home and those already here.  So if you would like a great job, great people, and help those that have given a lot for this country, sign up and make a difference.   Otherwise, sit back and watch it fall apart.
