American Liberty TV To Create Demo News Program

Demo video will help people visualize how a daily newscast might look, in order to help generate more support for the project.

When I first proposed the idea that "The Revolution Must Be Televised," I wasn't sure what level of reception the idea would receive. On the one hand, I hoped it would generate a huge groundswell of excitement, enthusiasm, and support. On the other hand, I feared that the idea would be rejected as pie-in-the-sky and fluff. As usual, reality ended up somewhere in the middle of these two extremes.

That's why I'm now proposing that we create a demo news program using whatever limited resources we each have. There is a large pool of talent around the country. If we can bring it together, it can move mountains. It would be great if we already had money to work with so we could do this demo in a professional TV studio, but right now that's not within our reach.

What IS within our reach is that Revolution supporters around the country have computers, word processors, webcams, and camcorders. I think that we can put together a newscast demo program with what we have that can really give people a taste of the potential for such a program if produced professionally on a daily basis. In other words, I want to show people a demo so that they'll be motivated to support our fundraising efforts.

While people haven't been battering down the door to join the project, there has been quite a bit of support shown already. I've received about a dozen emails from people wanting to be members of the news team. I've received suggestions about how to improve the proposal to make it more palatable to the majority of people in the Ron Paul movement and to those who might consider supporting it financially. A couple dozen have already committed to supporting the effort financially. Quite a few dozen have participated in helping to name the program. (So far, the leading vote getter is Freedom News, although some feel that's too "niche" oriented.)

One disappointing development was that breakthematrix.com refused to send a simple email to the list of 60,000 email addresses that Trevor Lyman accumulated from the Ron Paul money bombs in order to tell people about our project. Their CEO Rick Williams told me that it would interfere with their own efforts to sell stock in their venture, a stock offering which isn't scheduled to begin until late May at the earliest.

But on the plus side, others are stepping up to the plate with warm levels of support. I get emails every day from people telling me they think the idea is wonderful and that they're fully committed to supporting it any way they can.

I'm counting on that support right now. If you would like to see our project succeed, if you would like to participate, if you would like to help us make our demo by contributing some stories, some video, or some artwork for the demo newscast, please click here to send me an email. Together, we can make this project work!

And for those who haven't seen the original video in which I proposed this project, visit the project website at www.americanlibertytv.com.

I like your idea- I am sure many people had the same impulse you did-- but again, track record is where the failings lie.

Talent, good writing, thoughtful discourse are all things to get behind, but to get behind them, they have to cast a shadow, meaning they need to exist already.

Which is why starting at any level is more important than saying you are going to "do".

When horses race, they are walked in front of the betters first...

I would still go with humor and sarcasm over straight news. You want to draw new minds to the cause, right? What better way, than to make them think and laugh at the same time.

Think about the two actors doing the Red State pieces on the internet. Start like that and grow your audience and influence...
