As of 7:53 EST today, the Ron Paul blimp fund is at $383,500 -- $33,500 over the amount needed. This fundraising success has raised the ire of some übersnarky Wonkettes more than once -- and that's before the news has been acknowledged by the ever-obnoxious blog. (Did anyone else notice Wonkette has never been funny?)
As would be expected, creative Ron Paul supporters have started making inspiring videos to spur each other on. When I first wrote about the Ron Paul blimp last week, the fund was just over $13,000. Less than a week later, the goal has been met.
Imagine what the leftists and neocons will say when they get wind of this.

Even if a Super Bowl blimp were affordable which I doubt, the NFL has to give permission which is not likely. What would be great, though, is for Ron Paul supporters in Arizona to show up at the Super Bowl tailgate with signs and pamphlets to distribute. Someone in the media will cover that part of the event just because every news agency in the world, it seems, is there...all week long.
What's great about something like a Super Bowl appearance is that it is just two days before Super Tuesday primaries and it is basically the only news item Sunday and Monday of that week.

Any pilot can tell you that airspace over the Super Bowl and many other special events is restricted, so it is unlikely that the Paul blimp will be able to fly over them. Wanna impress people and get attention? Fly that baby over every small town you can, take the local reporters up for a spin, and put a good front man on it to talk about the blimp as an analogy for the overinflated government that our man wants to deflate. The small towns are always ignored by the presidential campaigns. Bringing in a blimp will cause a great deal of excitement in small-town America.
THe kids with cancer and the small town thing would be great. Life is slower in rural areas and people tend to notice it more than in bigger cities. I think more people in cities would see it but the rural people would more talk about it because of the slower pace, even if it just flew over their area.
RON PAUL! FTW! If you vote for anyone besides Ron Paul you are in part responsible for trying to help the Military Industrial Complex and the war machines destroy the USA.
