When George Bush was elected he took an Oath of Office, that in part states, he will uphold the Constitution of the United States. He now wants to expand the powers of a non-governmental agency…the Federal Reserve! As far as I'm concerned, we began forfeiting our freedoms and independence the day the Federal Reserve was established. We continue to behave as if the Federal Reserve is in fact, a branch of the federal government. It is not! If you and I went out and produced worthless pieces of paper and tried to use it for exchange, we would be prosecuted for counterfeiting , yet our Federal Reserve has been doing just that for decades!
I have to wonder if this action will be taken by Presidential Executive Order and then rubber stamped by Congress or if George will send this 22-page executive insult to Congress in the form of a bill? Will this 22-page document be like the Patriot Act …too long and troublesome for our elected representatives to read prior to a vote on the floor?
I have to wonder why year after year Americans sit by while our elected officials violate our Constitution with no consequence? I wonder what state of affairs this country is going to have to be reduced to before we say enough is enough? Is it going to take marital law? Are all of our liberties going to be stripped from us before we take action? What is it that we fear so damn much that we will sit by, with full knowledge and do nothing while our elected officials run this country into financial ruin, violate the Supreme Law of the Land, commit egregious act of betrayal and tyranny?
I still hold on to the beliefs and liberties guaranteed to me by the Constitution. I stand without fear as a Patriot. I will not forfeit my power and be reduced to fear of MY government. "WE THE PEOPLE" , not the government, have inalienable rights. We will never be free, if we refuse to exercise our freedom. We will forfeit our sovereignty as a nation if, as individuals, we do not behave sovereign.

I was actually planning on writing an article on the Federal Reserve today or tomarrow. I guess you beat me to it. However, since I have a different view on the Reserve I suppose I should continue with it.
Scary, isn't it? I noticed in the announcement that the plan is for the Fed to take over many of the functions of the SEC, which led me to the conclusion that the intent is to centralize the authority to police finance in a single massive satrapy, as the other police agencie have been centralized in the Department of Homeland Security. What makes this worse is that, while a cabinet department is indirectly controlled by the people (through presidential elections) the Federal reserve is not.
Currently, the Congress has a bill to transfer its power to coin money to the Treasury. I don't know why the Congress is giving up its powers to the executive branch.
And now you say the goverment turning more of the regulating power to an outside agency. Where is the oversight?
It's time to nationalize the Federal Reserve and bring it back under the purview of elected officials. At least the post office has some competition.
Thanks for the info. I went and read the article and shot off 3 letters 1 to my house represetative and the 2nd and 3rd to my two senators. telling them not to support the bush plan
