Time Calls Ron Paul an Extremist with Kooky Ideas A review of Time Magazines recent article on Ron Paul.by Jake Morphonios

Michael Grunwald wrote a piece on Ron Paul and the Revolution which was published in Time magazine this week. He begins by pointing out that the Republican Party used to stand for limited government, low taxes and resisted meddling in the internal affairs of other nations. Those days are over, he concludes. In 2008, people who still share those same principles found their way to the Ron Paul Revolution.
Grunwald speaks of the immense outpouring of support that Paul's candidacy received, pointing to signs and banners along roads, high campaign contributions and myriad internet efforts. But, he points out (quite correctly), "the presidency isn't decided on YouTube".
A highlight of Ron Paul's campaign, Grunwald explains, is that Paul has stood up to the Republican establishment. When his fellow candidates would use the "I'm for small government too" talking points, Paul would gracefully point out the actual behaviors of President Bush and the Republican Party that stand in direct contradiction to their campaign rhetoric. Ron Paul has made himself the pesky conscience of the Republican Party.
As is expected of a mainstream media journalist, Grunwald takes his fair share of shots a Paul. He writes:
"But he is an extremist - partly in the Barry Goldwater extremism-in-defense-of-liberty-is-no-vice sense of the word, but also in the wacky let's-relitigate-the-currency-debates-of-the-1820s sense of the word. The late William F. Buckley wanted conservatives to stand athwart history yelling stop; Paul seems to want to slam history into reverse. The guy genuinely wants to abolish the Federal Reserve and start circulating gold again. Still, even if you set aside Paul's kookier ideas..."
Grunwald uses all the expected ad-hominems. You will find in his article the words nut, kook, wacky and extremist. But a deeper reading of the article reveals Grunwald's primary purpose - to demonstrate that Ron Paul is a genuine, old-time Republican that is trying to bring his party and nation back to its "wacky" roots.

If the man who wrote the article obviously has not read Dr. Paul's book 'A Foreign Policy of Freedom' where Dr. Paul clearly addresses the individuals with the audasity to call him an 'extremeist.' If believing that the government cannot control people's daily lives better then the people themselves can is extreme, then Ron Paul is an extremeist. If believing that the dollar should have some sort of financial backing rather then just being printed money, then Ron Paul is an extremist. If believing that the United States has no buisness in providing other countries 'Peace through power' then Ron Paul is definatly an extremist. Let me tell you about extremists; Extremists hijacked American planes and rammed them into the Twin Towers on September 11th. Extremists strap bombs to themselves and blow themselves up with the intent to kill everyone and everything around them. Ron Paul is fighting a battle to win back the Republican party and to show America that not all politicians are useless lobyiest pigs that say they're anti-war yet they vote for the war. (Obama) Not all politicians are as stupid as The President himself by telling the American people 'We are not in a recession, we just built too many houses.' (That is the super genius of Mr. President George Bush) Not all politicians want to track your every move by implimenting a national id card (Hillary) And not all politicians are as economically disinclined as Mr. 'I have people to do that for me, and don't ask me again' insane McCain. (Who might I add the other slimy politicians distorted the constitution to allow him to run for President DISPITE the fact his is not a natural born citizen)
Call Ron Paul an extremist if you want to prove your lack of intelligence. Call Ron Paul an extremist if you want to show how the main stream media is doing a great job at distorting your mind to believe what they want you to believe. I suggest that before you call Ron Paul anything besides a genius and an honorable man & politician, that you be well read, well written, and well educated before you put your lack of all the above onto a public forum where people can ridicule you. It is still a free country (for the time being)
Why does Dr. Paul keep mentioning abolishing the Federal Reserve? I would suggest you read , The Creature from Jekyll Island " to find out just how kooky Dr. Paul is not!!!
The Mainstream media needs to educate the public about the Federal Reserve - how they have no oversight, how they manipulate the interest rates, how they bail their friends €- the big banks - out of their self-induced problems and we the taxpayers pay for it all.
There is nothing "kooky" about having a nation's currency tied to something of real value as opposed to having secretive bankers inflate and print and inflate and print more .

What's not KOOKIER than handing over 6 mos. pay every year to a corrupt gov't, a gov't who drags us into a war with the lie of WMD, a gov't that prints money out of thin air, a gov't that takes our freedoms, one by one, by shyster politicians, who make illegal deals behind closed doors, like the Federal Income Tax, Federal Reserve and . the Patriot Act (which supposedly they were forced to vote on with only 15 min. to read umpteen-hundred pages).....I can't imagine anything KOOKIER than the things our govt. does to us and now we can't even assemble peacably without a PERMIT ("Congress shall make no law"....if I don't get a permit, aren't I breaking a law??????)
If we were long on the edge of "disaster" with a "financial nuclear winter" waiting in the wings, why were American news consumers among the last to know?
I call TIME Fascists with VERY anti-american ideas. I wouldn't expect them to call Dr Paul or ANY real american anything less than "kooky", "crazy", "quixotic", "unpatriotic" or anything else in their repertoire. It's actually an honor to be acussed of any of these things by Time or any of the other garbage posing as media.
Clearly. there is nothing wackier than us traditional conservatives... Heck, not spending money you don't have and not starting senseless ad expensive wars? Outrageous! When will we learn?
