The MSM & the character of GOP delegates, Ron Paul, John McCain, Teddy Roosevelt & Abe Lincoln
Missouri GOP Executive Director Jared Craighead recently released rumors about Ron Paul supporters. The MSM spread them. This is more evidence that some people are scared that GOP delegates will make Ron Paul the next Abraham Lincoln or Teddy Roosevelt! Expect the character of GOP delegates to be truly tested in September. by Multimediamonitor

In 1913, when Theodore Roosevelt wrote: "A vote is like a rifle, its usefulness depends upon the character of the user." he could hardly have foreseen that his words would be used to sell T-shirts in 2008. Three decades ago Ron Paul's character inspired Texan GOP delegates to nominate him. A generation later thousands of GOP delegates and alternates are having their character tested in ways few could have expected. Thanks to the mainstream media [MSM] many may need more than T-shirts when the time comes in September to use their votes.
Some good news from Missouri is here on Nolan Chart but how many delegates there and in all the other states yet grasp the scope of what they are undertaking? Even the author of the above article believes that as the rule stands, John McCain can "legitimately" count on all the electoral votes from the state. This is not the place to go through electoral law case histories, but the ultimate answer in Saint Paul next September comes down to a simple point.
No-one, including John McCain, can legitimately count on all the Missouri [or any state's] electoral votes unless existing GOP rules allow some GOP authority other than the assembled convention, to forbid delegates using a secret ballot in the voting for a nominee. Please read that again to grasp the essential point of secret ballots, which is to protect each voter, of what-ever character, from "undue influence" [a polite legal term for bribery, intimidation etc.].
If existing GOP rules allowing a GOP authority to forbid delegates from voting using a secret ballot why did Jared Craighead plant the rumor taken up by Jo Mannies here? If you read the first comment on Jo's report, by Aaron Walker and mentioning Abraham Lincoln's 1860 candidacy, you'll see why Jared may already regret planting the rumor. For readers [& delegates] with the time to research more, the "Rules of Order" for the convention state: The Rules of the House of Representatives of the United States shall be the rules of the convention. Ron Paul already knows these and probably better than anyone likely to be in Saint Paul in next September.
Meanwhile evidence of GOP delegates character tests widening beyond Missouri is here and here and here. Many, and possibly most, delegates have the character needed to use their votes in the interest of the greater good of the GOP even without a secret ballot, but some are unclear on their rights as delegates. Also even the best character, whether using a vote or rifle, needs to know what he or she needs to hit and what the target looks like.
Presumably in voting in September for a Presidential nominee, the target is a candidate with the best chance of winning the November election. For now let's try to put aside another target, a Presidential nominee who will best serve, within the limits imposed by the Constitution, the people of the US, and look just at numbers.
On the numbers so far delegates may believe that John McCain can get the numbers to win the GOP Presidential nomination but Ron Paul can not. Certainly they can see the same MSM reports and opinions that over 200 million potential voters have been fed since January. Ron Paul admits to the MSM that he's a long shot [for the GOP nomination, not for the Presidential election], but is there polling evidence to support delegates defiance of the MSM [& millions of GOP "faithful"]?
Polls published prominently in the MSM rank Ron Paul too low to have a serious chance of winning even the GOP nomination, let alone a Presidential election. But what if delegates get polling evidence to prove that the people have been misinformed and even deceived by the MSM?
Let's start with Ron Paul's over 70% vote in his nomination in Texas District 14. More telling than this result is the fact that no Democrat candidate even sought nomination to represent the district. This is compelling evidence that the majority of an electorate informed of Ron Paul's character and policies will both vote for him and even become immune to the temptations offered by the Democrats [and other GOP candidates]. Hence this question [for the MSM]. Is there polling evidence that if the 200 million plus US voters knew what District 14 voters know, a majority would vote for Ron Paul to be their President?
The CNN audience for the GOP candidates debate on Nov 29, 2007 would have been well below 200 million but was certainly a more representative sample than those so prominent in MSM reports. While perhaps more biased than the prominent MSM polls, the audience polled after the CNN debate were also far better informed. Most of the audience did not participate in CNN's poll and the questions asked were not of voting intentions. There were several questions, the most relevant to voting intentions was: Who do you think won the debate? It was answered by 30,385 viewers and there were eight candidates to choose from. The relevant results are:
Ron Paul 14,949 [49%]
John McCain 3237 [10%]
For indirect polling results lets look at those for 'The Project for Excellence', based on surveys described here. Since mid January the Index has published a table on 'Media Exposure by Candidate' with two classifications: 'Main Newsmaker' and 'Significant Presence'. Over the nine weeks until March 16, Ron Paul was mentioned in 14 of 4251 articles [in which candidates were mentioned]. Of his seven mentions as 'Main Newsmaker', six were on Ron Paul's announcement as the "winding down" of his campaign. He got zero mentions in the week before 'Super Tuesday' while John McCain got 223 of 597 mentions. That week's commentary on the survey is headlined 'McCain Wins the Coverage Battle as Media Move to Anoint Him'.
Such evidence of both GOP candidates Presidential prospects needs to be presented and debated at the convention. Most GOP delegates [with the protection of the secret ballot] could well find that they have the character to vote YES for Ron Paul. In doing so they would confront broadcasters like CNN and publishers like Arthur Sulzberger Jr., Chairman & Publisher of the New York Times with a dilemma of their own making. What could they report between the convention and November?
Jo Mannies report is evidence of what has already begun. GOP candidates and alternates must expect increasingly undue influences between now and the convention. Will enough of them have the character to be there and to use their ballots to vote the way that 70% did in District 14? Will it come down to how many get a T-shirt with those words of Theodore Roosevelt, and how many other wear them in Saint Paul?
Give me a 'Thumb' if you want to wear or give a T-shirt for Saint Paul!

Not everyone knows what "MSM" is..  add "Main Stream Media" (MSM) at the beginning... I hope the GOP is scared because there are an awful lot of Ron Paul supporters who began working their way into the delegate process starting last year.  Maybe not enough to do what you're suggesting, but enough to cause a lot of embarrassment for the GOP.
I’m contacting every Ron Paul Meetup organizer about the following:
You may have heard of this upcoming event, but if not, I would like to bring to your attention the Washington D.C. “Freedom Rally”, featuring among other speakers, our very own Ron Paul!
It’s billed as the April 15th “Mass Rally in DC to Take Back America.”
While not being exclusively about Ron Paul, it is most certainly about the “Ron Paul Revolution” which we all credit Dr. Paul for having “lit the fuse.”
I won’t go into much more detail about the April 15th Freedom Rally, except to encourage you to do the following:
1. Check out the websites listed below to get a handle on what’s planned. 2. Google the distinguished speakers that will share the stage with Ron Paul. 3. And then, once you are totally excited about this event, plan a Ron Paul Meetup in D.C. for April 15th!
If your Meetup group is large enough, you may want to contact your local charter bus company for the trip to D.C. No one has to spend the night. Bus in, do the Rally, and bus right back home. That’s what I will be doing in my motorhome with at least ten other patriots from the Midwest! (And hopefully a charter bus if needed)
For those of you in Mountain or Pacific time, forget about a bus. Charter a airliner!
It’s time to stop partying like irresponsible kids (politics as usual) and get to minding our own businesses. The political leaders of the United States have facilitated a private organization, the Federal Reserve, to manipulate and control our assets, and hence our very lives. We all have a critical interest in the monetary system that we use for our individual commerce, and therefore livelihood. Most don’t understand that the Federal Reserve is a big wealth pump designed to siphon wealth from the people into the hands of a very few individuals who use that wealth to further undermine the people. As a result, the title to almost all property in the US has been transferred to the banks, and thus has been placed under the purview of politicians.  Most titles are no longer private, but have a public interest attached.  Percentage wise, Ron Paul supporters get it. The federal reserve and its backers have been in an economic war with the people since before 1913. Google Silent Weapons for Quiet Wars. Yes, this isn’t the first time around for this group of control freaks (the Fed.), and if we boot them out, it won’t be the last, people’s memories being what they are. We need to do what is necessary to put things straight. We need to expose all the fraud! We need to regain control of our own lives and our economy. We need to regain control of the money. Your article gives direction to that end. Bravo! (Only gold and silver are money. US Constitution, Article 1 Section 10.)
Forget About a useless march on D.C. in June !!! I'm all for naming a new "battle cry" of sorts for the movement.
Forty years ago, in August,  America and American's stood up on their hind legs, at the Demcratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, and declared ...... "NO MORE". I think it's about time that the Republicans had a little taste of that medicine .... I say our march should be in September, on the streets of Minneapolis to make the voice of the Ron Paul message be heard and the determination of the Revolution be shown to the world. To hell with the NEOCON run RNC & to hell with the Zionist owned & operated Main Stream Media. The time has come !!! Rise up in the face of Tyranny or forever be swallowed by the Beast !!!
MSM is a misnoumer. It should be "The corporate-run media". Just like "The state-run media" in china. Just different people pulling strings through their message to the people that buy it.Â
So, we should call the MSM in america what it really is; The corporate-run media. These are the guys that won't allow RP to be nominated and who currently run what's there now and will run whomever they approve to run for office.
Using the results from Texas District 14 is problematic, because although Paul beat his opponent for the House seat with 70% of the vote, he only recieved about 12% of the vote from the same voters for President. Personally, I'm inclined to explain the discrepancy as vote fraud, and would like to see the ballots from the district hand-counted. But I'm prejudiced in favor of Paul, and paranoid about politics in general. A McCain supporter, I'm sure, would have another explanation: that even the voters who know and love Dr Paul best don't believe he is electable as President. The corporate media has told them this over and over, and they believe it.  And who knows? That may be the correct explanation.Â
