Topic: Presidential Campaign 2008
John McCain, Ron Paul and the Republican Base

John McCain tonight gave an interview on Fox News saying that all of his opponents for the nomination had endorsed him. He must have forgotten Ron Paul again

John McCain on Thursday night gave an interview to Sean Hannity on Fox News expressing optimism about his chances for election to the Presidency. He said that the Republican base is more united in supporting him than the Democratic base is in supporting either Senator Clinton on Senator Obama. Since Clinton and Obama are still running almost even for the Democratic nomination, this statement is true, but there is so far no clear indiation that the base would not be willing to united behind either of them once the campaign is decided.

He then went on to say that all of the other Republican candiates, Huckabee, Romney, Thompson, Giuliani, had not ony withdrawn but endoresed him. He did not mention Ron Paul, which is little disingenuous, but understandable. Ron Paul has not officially ended his campaign for the presidential nomination (although he admits he will not win the nomination) but has indicated that he will not endorse McCain unless he makes significant changes in his policies.

Senator McCain in his optimism is disregarding several factors.  First of all, by refusing even to admit the existence of Represntative Paul, he has lost any small support he might have recived from the Republican Paul supporters.  He probably knows this, but considers the group small enough that he can afford to do so.  The lack of support from this groups, however, could be critical in a close election.

Secondly. he assumes that the Paul campaign was a personality based movement.  This is not true.  A number of the voters who turned out to support Representative Paul in the primaries and caucuses were motivated primarily by the fact that he was the one candidate who took a clear stand against the war.  Senator McCain says that all Republicans and all conservatives support the war in Iraq, but the polls show that this is not true, and that the anti-war feeling in the Republican Party extends beyond the Paul movement.

Senator McCain says that he will energize the entire Republican base and attract independents and Reagan Democrats by promising that there will be no tax increases during his administration.  Of course, George H.W. Bush made the same promise in 1988, and Republican gullibility extends only so far.  He also has to make clear how he can wage his hundred year war and support his thousand year empire without raising taxes.

There is still a part of the Republican base extending beyon the Paul moved which supports the older libertarian Republicanism.  Senator McCain apparently is reading them out of his imperial Republican Party

The only thing McCain is doing is generating Blow Back in the GOP, and that will come back at him “times ten” in full force in August. McCain is a RHINO that means for the uninformed, A Republican in Name Only. He has a history of paving the way for Ted Kennedy and an unnamed cabal of international companies.

The Rhino term is not endearing but appropriate, and I and my many like minded friends in every county, in every state will give McCain and his adherents a long and serious ear full soon enough, we will judge him in public and it will not be pretty. Long Live our Republic. In a Republic 2% of the population can change the government. Why, because McCain is to coin an aviator term, “Bingo” running on empty!.

He has served in the Senate for how long? For that matter all the candidates still running save one are all members of the US Senate and each of these Senatorial politicians is personally responsible for the state of our union.

The dollar dropped 1.2 percent in one day this week. What can any of these esteemed Senators do to improve the management of the government and its economic condition. I ask you all to review the resume of each Senator and I challenge you to find any evidence that any presidential candidate Senator is not a “flipper” and over the course of time each running Senator has managed to say one thing and then do another.

So, in retrospect McCain is no different than any other Senator and they each collectively share the full burden of responsibility for the state of the union and the deaths generated in the name of the union. Now you have to understand the lesser of two evils and its impact on our union having been employed by so many citizens for the past twenty years. It has generated death, loss and soon potentially the collapse of the “American Way of Life”.

No more wasting our treasure on killing in the name of “The Politics of Fear”. I know that McCain, Obama and Clinton all speak truth out both sides of their mouths and each already personally bears the responsibility of deaths of our American Heroes, our soldiers, our blood. We can no longer endure the “lesser of two evils’, because real people are dying every day. Today, it was 14 in a rocket attack and 2 in a crowd, Our Blood, Our Marines, they stopped to talk to about the local conditions and died.

Each Senator candidate also bears the responsibility of supporting an undeclared war that has escalated the killing from 3,500 Americans killed on September 11, 2001 to over 500,000 of “them that are not us”. Ok argue the numbers some say it is only 0ne hundred thousand! As a Christian I can longer sit still and bear the knowledge that America in “Fear” of an unknown enemy has been and continues to be willing to kill endlessly. I for the first time in my life hear the words of God “stop killing” and I turn my cheek.

In closing I embrace the most radical and far right creed, the US constitution. This creed demands “Sound Money” policy, small government, the right to bear arms, Real personal freedom and no foreign entanglements. I will fire my government and demand new accountable management. I will fund those that support this creed and relentlessly badger those that talk change out both sides of their mouths. I encourage you to do the same because time is of the essence.

The Socialists co-opted the Democrats, and lots of "old style" Democrats switched parties and became Republicans. Look at the South; in the 60's and 70's solidly Democrat, but nowadays Republicans mostly control Southern politics. The escaping Democrats basically took over the Republican Party, and "old style" libertarian/conservative Republicans have no home as a result. Sadly the Libertarian Party is stagnant and ineffectual, and it will probably remain so; otherwise we would have seen some signs of success as measured by election results and membership growth over the past 35-plus years. Maybe it's time for the Republican Party to break up. Who remembers the Whigs and what happened to them? Slavery was the issue then; will the global American Empire be the issue that creates a new political party out of the ashes of the Republican Party?

Which am I?

Thank you for writing this. I liked it so much I read it a few times. I am trying to figure out if I am a true Ron Paul Revolutionary, or just an old school libertarian Republican. ;-) I will not give up everything I have always believed in to surrender to McCain and the Fascist Regime.

I think I might be bi.

It is a beautiful sunny day in Washington, DC today. It is a good day for me to come out of the closet as a Ron Paul Revolutionary AND an old school libertarian Republican. ;-P

After reading that last link, I can tell you this: I worked for the IRS, and there's about six different laws that I can think of that if you follow any advice on that lunatic "we the people" site will get you thrown in jail and everything you own sucked up by the IRS.

People, for God's sake -- if you want to protest, protest -- but don't do it by writing appeals saying you have a right to redress against paying taxes. Best case scenario is you get audited. Worst case scenario is Bill Williamson gets his dogs out and they put holes in your house in a "hit raid".
