On Monday morning, Congressman Ron Paul grabbed the national spotlight in an interview on CNN. While conceding that he knows he cannot win the Presidency, he confirmed that his campaign is far from over.
The interview, which has been replayed all morning on CNN and is making news all over the internet, provided Paul with the opportunity to clarify his true objectives for staying in the race. A popular part of the interview was this exchange between CNN and Ron Paul:
CNN: The flip side of that coin, you are the only Republican calling for a withdrawal from Iraq. If you're not going to become President and be in a position to affect that, would they be better off voting for the Democratic candidate?
Paul: I don't think so. I don't think they're very sincere. If you look at Obama's voting record, he's voted not to end the war. He's voted to finance the war. His rhetoric is playing to the people that come my way but he is every bit as much of an -- He wants to send more troops into Afghanistan. He wants to broaden the military. I think it's a fraud what he's talking about when he wants to really get out of Iraq. I think that's politics.
Paul might not have tossed mean-spirited one-liners, but, being the gentleman that he is, spoke with fact and exposed lies. He also said in the interview that he will not support John McCain for President.
It's about time Ron Paul came out swinging! I hope he keeps it up!

Amen, Brother Hines. My father passed away 12 years ago. I have his service medals for Korea and WWII. He joined the Navy at 17 in 1946. His first tour was for peacekeeping in Germany. We're still there!!!
What does it say when the military commitments outlive the veterans of those wars?
My kids are becoming draft age. This notion of perpetual war is insane.
We can't afford to maintain this empire any longer. Obama's programs can't be paid for, if the dollar is worthless. The war is being financed by deficit spending and the national debt. Printing more dollars to pay the interest on the debt is going to cause more inflation.
Trying this again: I enjoy how Paul handle the unity quesiton. When asked about whether McCain is they guy to unify the party, his response is right on. What is the value of unity when principles are placed on the back burner? While it is impossible to agree with everything one candidate advocates, the big issues - foreign policy, economy, small government – Ron Paul has presented good ideas and excellent values.
Well said Charles-Philip. His sincerity, kindness and humbleness is really what attracts to many people, apart from his intelligence, experience and well balanced campaign. I say there is still an unconventional chance and way he possibly could get the nomination...the situation is still fluid.
Also: he had such little exposure also int he beginning and if he would have been on an aggressive atatck mode all the time, people would only have seen this of him - as introduction to him - and get the idea he is very aggressive and it would have worked very well for the media to paint him as a "fringe", but now it becomes so clear how moderate and wise he is. I say the anti-war delegates that voted for McCain can still change their mind to vote for the true anti-war candidate and the fiscal and social conservatives in the GOP will recognize him as the direction they should take. The "magic" of Paul is that he has literally something for everyone in the highly diverse society to relate to, and can unify the party and also the country with this.
Ron Paul "attacks" Obama? Is it just me or was this less of an "attack" and merely a simple statement of truth? Attacks imply viciousness - which wasn't apparent to me. Just an observation....
BOCA RATON, Florida (Reuters) 03/14/08 - The United States is in a recession that could be "substantially more severe" than recent ones, National Bureau of Economic Research President Martin Feldstein said on Friday. The situation is very bad, the situation is getting worse, and the risks are that it could get very bad," Feldstein said in a speech at the Futures Industry Association meeting in Boca Raton, Florida. "There's no doubt that this year and next year are going to be very difficult years."
End
This recession is well deserved, and I pray to God that it'll turn into a raging depression. Bush idiots need a long, horrible taste of what they have so mercilessly cause the people of Baghdad to endure. And should the hardship become more than you can deal with, who you gonna call, why Dr. Jack Kevorkian of course. Don't have a phone, use mine.
Since this article is still appearing on the conservative chart at the end of November, I thought I'd put in a plug for one I just wrote that cited it: Barr on Obama (I): Iraq http://www.nolanchart.com/article5560.html
