We attended the Jefferson County GOP assembly this morning. At our tiny county assembly last week there were about 60 people. At today's there were about 1000. Our two counties share a District Attorney so we showed up to support his nomination at the assembly. There were 21 delegates from our county, 820 from Jefferson County. The DA had all 21 of us go up on stage during his nomination speech.
This was done in the first hour. The rest of the time didn't involve our county so we were free to leave...but we didn't. It had been advertised that there would be no presidential election speakers during the assembly but after the DA nomination a woman got up and spoke for John McCain. After that, our precinct captain told the Jefferson County Chair that Ron Paul was still running for president and since John McCain had a speaker they should also have a Ron Paul speaker.
No problem.
We waited around for another hour until our Paul guy spoke. He is a 21 yr old conservative who speaks like he was born behind a podium. He said his generation faces an enormous debt and a sinking economy while we fund both sides of every conflict in the world and try to spread 'democracy' at the end of a gun. He said that they are 29% of today's population but they are 100% of the future for this country and they are being handed a raw deal that they are not going to accept.
In a 2 minute, ad hoc speech, this kid got 4 huge applause and a partial standing ovation when he stepped down. It was fantastic. Afterwards, there was a line of people at the Ron Paul table. Everyone at this convention is a delegate. Those people in line are looking to sign up as Colorado Ron Paul delegates. They are former Huckabee people and Romney people and Fred people and Tancredo people. The Giuliani people all went for McCain, I'm sure. They have so little in common with the rest.
The major topic of debate at the GOP breakfasts this week was how to hold your nose and vote for McCain. I'd say about 50% say absolutely no way in hell will they vote for McCain.
I have no illusions about Ron's chances of winning the nomination. My goal to take enough delegates to the GOP convention to have a voice in the proceedings. There are still 5 months before any delegates are counted. The media can proclaim McCain the victor and he can make all the acceptance speeches he wants but he is not the nominee until the delegates are counted. Every time he opens his mouth another delegate switches to Ron Paul. I think John McCain is fully capable of blowing the nomination. I think constant visibility of the Ron Paul revolution could greatly help McCain to unravel...not that he really needs help in that like Rudy did. I think the man is not psychologically or mentally fit for office and I expect him to prove it all on his own.
When the choice is so black and white; a man of principle and conviction versus a man without a shred of principle and conviction only to inflating his own ego, people for whom those things matter are standing up for Dr. Paul. Of course it is too little, too late for this election but that's ok. These things should happen slowly and deliberately. It has been so long since Republicans have had a candidate who stood for conservative principles that it will take time for them to remember why those principles are so valuable to our nature as individual human beings and essential to our prosperity and peace. One way or another we will re-learn these things, we always do...until we forget them again, round and round we go.
I have read articles here at Nolan Chart and elsewhere on the internet about Ron Paul dropping his bid for the nomination. The level of wishful thinking on that topic is more telling than the words people write about it. If you write it with enough passion, wit or sarcasm it will happen, it will, it will. NOT! Why are some folks so afraid or Dr. Paul's message that they make up fantasies about his going away then post those fantasies on a public forum. I think that is both sad and freaking hilarious at the same time. We are here to stay, Paul or no Paul, we are taking the GOP back from the liberals.
The struggle to defend individual liberty against those who would willingly sacrifice their liberty, and yours is eternal. Those of us who are doing the work today must also pave the way for those who follow to be ever more effective. We need to encourage grass roots efforts because the diversity of action yields the best overall test of the ideas. The best survive and thrive, the worst remain marginal. (There is always somebody who will believe in ANYTHING.)
The aspect that was absent from the Ron Paul grass roots movement was the experience or tools people could use to quickly weed out ineffective behavior and encourage effective behavior. Far too much time and energy was wasted on people who had no ability to become effective Republicans or to be taken seriously by voting Republicans. I heard today that two of these folks we know have already re-registered with their favorite 3rd party; one Constitutional, one Libertarian. I'll never understand the conscious decision to make oneself as politically ineffective as possible but a very tiny portion of the population does so proudly and even self-righteously. As long as they're having fun I guess it doesn't hurt anyone.
To counter the urge for folks to return to a third party or apathy, we are launching an organization for grass roots activists to share effective activities. We will leverage volunteer talents to build out other tools for promoting conservative values within the GOP and for enforcing "trickle-up-integrity" in local communities. The website will launch in the coming week after having worked on it for way too long. It is ready for prime time. Always a work in progress, this is a tool that grass roots volunteers will continue to improve on. We're kicking the idea out into the marketplace of ideas with every confidence that it will be given a life by those who participate. Participation is the only requirement. This isn't a tool you buy and put on a shelf. You only have it if you use it. Do or don't do, at The Alphaville Decoder organization those are the only choices.

Well Mike Huckabee when he was a young boy: Sittin on his Mammies knee: He picked up a bible in his little right hand and said "One day I'll change the G.O.P." yea.. "one day I'LL lead the grass roots free:"
Some say he was born down in Arkansas: Some say up in Oh...hi....oh: I just say he was an American Man, The voice of countless future souls...yes, the one to let the grass roots know.
Now the Bosses they said to Mr. Huckabee: We're gunna bring our steam drill round: We're gunna bring our steam drill right into the playin field, and "Whop some delegates down, down, down." ...line up now, "Whop some delegates down!"
Mr. Huckabee he said to them Good Ole Boys 'GOP', "What'd he say?" "You Can bring your Steam drill down: But if you bring that thing out here on this field, I'm gunna beat your machine on down, down, down, I'ma gunna beat that thing on down!"
Well the people they cried to Mike Huckabee: "and to GOD!" "Were a pulling ..as hard as we can!" "pullin a thowsand pounds from the hips on down, doin as much as any man can, can, can. Doin as much as any people can!"
Then Mike Huckabee he went down to the Alamo: He drewwwww.. a line in the sand: Any talk of defeat was far from his mind, "here is were in Might we will Stand, Stand, Stand: Here is where we make our stand.
Well the campaign it fell to the party: The dead were laid out to the ground: The fearfull all said that they knew it from the start but they didn't know about the very next round, round, round. They forgot about the very next round!
They had taken the seeds to the nation: Spead them all across the land: Every con-ser-va-tive that passed on by whould think there lies a true American Man, Man, Man, there lies a future plan.
Now that McCain has secured the needed delegates, and Mike Huckabee has endorsed him; people in remaining States can feel free to vote for Mike and still fully support the GOP!!!

What is remarkable about Mike Huckabee is that even to the end with all of the media mocking him and drumming the ‘NO mathematical possibility’ Line ‘lie…McCain still does not have the delegates needed’, ad-nausium for weeks following Super-Tuesday contests, he not only finished the race but finished it with 34% support in ‘Nation wide polls’ compared to John McCains 56%.
In states that had already held primaries as well as those that unfortunately had no voice, Huckabee had a third of the people pulling for him over McCain’s less than 2/3. Note nationwide polls include the East and West Coast that are not players in the Republican plan and skew the final percentages greatly.
These were people who had already been told time and time again to just drop it ‘it’s all over now go home!’
I think he still holds the same numbers today because his supporters ‘I am one Myself’ respect his vision to ‘never give up until the bell rings.’
What a legacy is Mike Huckabee 'Horton the Elaphant?'
Reading on Catholic Online I cam across an early description of 'what a Christian is'. Acording to the author it is (in condensed form) 'One who is in the world but not of the world. Hated by both Jew and Gentile but for no reason they can comprehend'.
It is amazing that the GOP candidate who 'HOLDS' over one third of the party nationwide and most probably more in Republican 'red?' states is now resting up after defeat. While the presumptive one travels on tax dollars to view Europe? Will there be stops at the AIRBUS plants over there?
It came to me one morning that Mike Huckabee is Dr. Sues's (Horton the Elephant). It was one of those weird analogies that we sometimes entertain but it keeps growing in me. This is making me look closer at Dr. Sues and wonder more about the messages in his writings.
While the Catholic comparisons to David vs. Goliath still hold true, I keep wondering who is the real Giant? Is it the DEMS? Not the friendly green Giant McCain at this jucture. But God has shown us as in scripture, Mikes words, Super Tuesday, and Warrenpiece 'SUPER TUESDAY' video that "One small stone.. and the widow's mite.. are truisms today." Go back further in David's life and wonder what beast he has fallen this year...? The bear, lion.. And remember that David was at the first not in war for his lethal ability but only to play music for the king. These things need time to see through yet.
What about the ALAMO? Going into battle with the Alamo as the outcome seems foolhardy. I would be a little nervous in retrospect if I were marching into a fight with an anthem of "Let's go to the Alamo to meet the thousands!" But.....The cry "Remember the Alamo!!!" proved powerful after the sacrifices of the hero's who died there.
Quick sidetrack on the Alamo: Some news stories reported that Mike used the Alamo for his stumping but defamed the true spirit of the Alamo by refusing the gentlemanly warrior spirit of admitting defeat??? Hello??? And how about some major news 'Reuters I think' covering Mike's SNL appearance like a real news show and saying that he tried to steal extra 'face time' by ignoring repeated attempts to remove him from the scene??? Despicable and at the same time laughable. See the top about 'Christians hated for no reason.'
OK.. nuff rantin, to my analogy of Mike Huckabee and Horton the Elephant. Stay with me a minute longer... you will see. It was one of those mornings where all of the Media ..well 'alot of it' was focussed on Mike's eminent withdrawal from the campaign later in the day. According to news McCain had now finally made it impossible for Mike to win 'again just like before'. We were all here asking Mike for support....tell us Mike! What are they saying!!! There was a story I think on Huffington Post Mocking President Huckabee for supporting a life amendment in Colorado I think? The headline was 'Mike is the Eggman!' spinning on the old Beatles tune Walrus. Suddenly it dropped to me that Mike is the Eggman...he is the Elephant 'Horton' whom Dr. Sues envisioned! I remembered What Horton said "I meant what I said and I said what I meant, this elephant is faithful one hundred percent!" and he was!
Ok if you have never read Horton hatches the Egg things might seem a little weird from here on out but try to envision it.
I meant what I said and I said What I meant! This elephant is faithful 100%. Through it all Horton stayed and sat on the egg and then in the end the egg hatched and forsook its bird mom for Horton! It was a next generation of flying elephants! Read back through the Alamo segment above.....
Another book has Horton hearing a who? Who did Horton hear? 'who?' They were just ordinary Whos in Hhoosville Who's life depended on Horton! Imagine the drumbeats as the folks chanted 'boil that dust speck.. boil that dust speck...boil that dust speck. Then change the words in your head to ... mathematically impossible...mathematically impossible! mathematically impossible! mathematically impossible! mathematically impossible...ad infinitum
Remember another Character who heard the Who ...the Grinch! There was a good story! In the end the Grinch finally learned at the end of his lonesome life the true spirit of Christmas. Even at his age he could still see the light and his heart grew 3 sizes they say 'he cut the roast beast!'.
PS My favorite Sues story is 'the pale green pants with nobody inside em'
This one could be the story of the fear that the liberal 'and conservative?' blogosphere hold for those who openly confess Christianity. Although they have never been afraid of anything 'not very'.

Great Job in Jefferson! In Dubuque county we had about 11(possibly more) Ron Paul supporters move on to district and state conventions as delegates. I also snagged up the platform committee person spot with 33 votes against the previous holder who was kinda running the show but only got 30 votes. Our Ron Paul county chairperson also ran against me but kinda regretted it afterward and was glad I took the spot.
I think we should also work on getting those elector spots filled.

Jahfre, you should look up the term collectivism. Here, I'll help...

Now, go ask Ron Paul what he thinks about collectivism or what he thinks about weeding out what someone decides is ineffective behavior for everyone else.

What are YOU in the GOP? Are you politically ineffective? You have 1 representive who is drowned out by all of the statist warmongers, and you act as if you are high and mighty above any 3rd party. Well, you go ahead bang your head against a brick wall in the GOP for as long as you want.
You think you can take over the GOP? Why not promote libertarianism in the Libertarian Party and help that party grow? Why are you trying to repair the Republican Party via an exercise in futility? Maybe you're not libertarian?

The ideals of collectivism are only acheived through individualism. That has been the major theme of the ideological views expressed and put forward through this revolution. Example after example will reveal that when things are done with force for a collective cause, society deteriorates and suffers while when things are left to the innovation and driving forces of the free market, productivity and coordination are fully realized.

Compare and contrast individualism and collectivism and maybe you'll get it. Individualism is exactly what the Founding Fathers were seeking to achieve and collectivism is what they were seeking to avoid.
I thought I liked this article until I was being called insignificant by registering with the party that represents my views. I support Ron Paul since he is libertarian in nature and I will vote Libertarian since that platform is consistent with what I believe. Furthermore, the Libertarian party will force the Republicans to change and through educating the public on libertarianism will result in more Republicans that have libertarian views. As demonstrated by the Libertarian party, they stated they would support Ron Paul if he won the Republican nomination. How can you expect me to vote for McCain when he stands for everything that is wrong with the Republican party? I would much rather follow my conscience and vote Libertarian even if there is a snowball's chance in hell that the candidate will win. Supporting a corrupt party that steals from the people for war profiteers and bankers under the false claims of conservatism is a waste of your time and energy. Good luck changing the GOP. The Libertarian party will continue to change the landscape of national politics so that another candidate like Ron Paul can win in the future. What we need now are more powerful third parties so that the Demopublicans begin to shift to libertarian ideologies.

Do you read for comprehension or so you can spew ignorance? The ideals(hopes, goals, etc) of collectivism are that everyone gets a fair opportunity, that there is prosperity, and that no single person essentially rules over everyone else. However, in reality those ideals are only acheived in individualism. The very negative things that highly idealistic people are trying to prevent by embrassing collectivism are the very things that actually occur when collectivism is applied. The irony is that through individualism the ideals(hopes, goals, whatever you want to call them) of collectivists are acheived.
When you don't explain whose ideals within collectivism you are speaking of, you may get misinterpretations in what you stated.
The designers and leaders of collectivism probably have a different idea of the ideals of collectivism than the average joe not paying attention or unknowing of what collectivism is or means.
I did not spew ignorance, but thank you for your clarification of what you were saying. After re-reading and hearing your explanation, it makes sense to me. Not saying that you are, but don't be too naive about the ideals of collectivists. Sorry for my misinterpretation.

I again suggest to you that libertarians are not your enemies. They are your compatriots in this battle. You are concerned with political effectiveness, and rightly so, but ostracizing libertarians, or any voter bloc sympathetic to your cause, is very ineffective politically.
I consider myself a libertarian, yet I support your efforts. I plan to support any true Paul Republicans in my local elections. Would you throw away my support just because I am not a Republican?
