Republican Missteps to Hand White House to Clinton/ Obama Believing that they are conserving their energies for the battle in the fall, John McCain and Company are stepping into the trap of failure.by EJ Moosa

Rush Limbaugh, Neal Boortz, and others are adamant about keeping the race for the Democratic Presidential Nomination alive to the very last minute. They sit on the edge of their chairs hoping for primary mulligans for the states of Michigan and Florida. Republicans have been encouraged to cross the line and vote for Hillary in democratic primaries left to kept those democrats fighting 'til the convention.
Unfortunantely, these are the very same things that will push the Democratic nominee to the Presidency in November. Why?
1. Democratic voters are staying in engaged. Millions of dollars are pouring into the coffers of Clinton and Obama. Virtually every voter who had a "dog" in this fight, still have a "dog" in this fight, and will if, as Clinton has suggested, there is a shared nomination.
2. Clinton and Obama are getting all of the media attention. Because they get so much attention, they can make missteps and recover. McCain will be getting much less attention. His missteps will be magnified.
3. The debate over what is best for the Republican Party has come to an end. Eveyone has fallen in line. Even Ron Paul has waved the white flag and hinted that it was time to wind down the campaign.
4. The Democratic Grassroots organizations for Clinton and Obama will be in place for the rest of this campaign. Does anyone believe that McCain's support structure is becoming better organized and growing at even half the rate of either Clinton or Obama? Watch the money totals as they come in. Come November, those same organizations that raised so much money will indeed get the vote out.
5. Obama and Clinton are going to be sharp in the Presidential Debates. They will have been on their toes all the way to the convention. McCain has 5 1/2 months off from serious, confrontational debates. Who is going to sound sharper and on their game in front of the camera?
By coming together early and ending the debate in the Republican Party, non McCain fans will not find the reasons they should vehemently support him in the 5 and ten second snippets of him we will see between now and the Convention. We will not be convinced that his way was a superior alternative to the positions of other candidates. Did we resolve the immigration debate within the Republican Party, for example? I think not.
These missteps are going to cost the Republican Party the White House in the fall. Republican Party Leadership thought they were smarter and knew better. Who will they blame when they lose it all?
Why of course...it will be me and you who are to blame. If it takes this for the lesson to be learned, then blame me. I can take it.

On the other hand, nobody's attacking McCain much right now and come the general election, McCain will be able to go back and replay all the tapes of Obama and Clinton each accusing the other of being unfit for the presidency.
