ter·ror·ism      Pronunciation Key - [ter-uh-riz-uhm] The Dreaded IRSThe Dreaded IRS
–noun 1. the use of violence and threats to intimidate or coerce, esp. for political purposes.
2. the state of fear and submission produced by terrorism or terrorization.
3. a terroristic method of governing or of resisting a government.

The IRS is, by fundamental dictionary definition, a terrorist organization. We are presently in the middle of what radio show host Dave Champion likes to call the annual "Tax Terrorism" season, that span of time from January 1st through the April 15th witching hour when tax returns are due. "Terrorism" is a very apt description because the operation and success of the IRS are based almost entirely on fear.A SWAT Team - courtesy Wikipedia

Every year at this time, the IRS ramps up its "enforcement actions" and employs its propaganda arm -- the press and especially such mouthpieces as the notoriously biased "reporter" David Cay Johnston of the New York Times -- to particularly publicize trials where "tax protesters" are convicted by juries, rather than tremendous wins against the IRS like that of attorney Tom Cryer. One partial success  not long ago was this recent article about Wesley Snipes. Such propaganda has been so effective that Mr. Johnston has been called "the de facto chief tax enforcement officer of the United States."

Make no mistake about it: the IRS has repeatedly proven its ruthlessness. Abuses by the IRS have been widely publicized, recently very notably in the documentary film "America - Freedom To Fascism" by the late Aaron Russo.

If you can momentarily divorce yourself from the question of whether or not an income tax is legitimate, do you relish living in a country where disagreement over one's tax liability frequently results in the utter destruction of homes and families? Should an agency of the government have that kind of power? A reader of my last article reported this:

"I have seen the face of evil. I made the decision years ago that I was not Taxpayer, as defined by the 16th Amendment and IRS Codes. I have a very large Tax Lien on myself, my wife and our family home. Soon, the IRS will steal and swindle me out of this property. I have even attempted an Offer in Compromise.......all rejected. They DO NOT care. The IRS is EXACTLY like Al Capone's enforcers..... no difference, except they enforce in behalf of the Federal Reserve."

Another reader wrote:

"I worked for the IRS. The ugly truth is that Income tax organs will ALWAYS be tyrannical and inefficient and the prime nexus of corruption, and dear God, you people have no idea how corrupt some of the IRS is."

Why do YOU file and pay income taxes? Is it really just your cheerful "voluntary compliance" -- a term the IRS loves to untruthfully bandy about? Or are you simply afraid - afraid that the IRS will apply the overwhelming force of its considerable resources to punish you if you fail to "volunteer?" Whose Money Is It Anyway?Professing themselves to be "tough on terrorism," all but one presidential candidate has ignored this singular form of domestic terrorism that strikes fear into the heart of every American every year.

As a presidential candidate, Dr. Paul has done us all the great service of bringing the issue of the income tax into the realm of public awareness and debate. While Hillary and Obama have never met a tax they didn't like, Dr. Paul's remaining Republican opponents give feeble lip service to tax reduction, going as far (in the case of Mike Huckabee) as mouthing the words "eliminate the IRS." Huckabee is of course speaking of the so-called "Fair Tax," another disaster if there ever was one. Ron Paul, on the other hand, has spoken boldly of eliminating the income tax and replacing it with nothing.

Ron Paul clearly understands that the very idea of an "income tax" is not at all compatible with liberty in a free society. It is, in fact, one of the ten planks of the Communist Manifesto. How can we be said to be free when on a regular basis government authorities hold a gun to our head and extract a substantial portion of the fruit of our labor?

Dr. Paul has been fighting "Tax Terrorism" on various fronts for his entire career. He has never voted for a tax increase of any kind. Short of eliminating the IRS, an impossible dream for a "lone congressman," he has nevertheless sponsored many bills to reduce taxes in specific ways. Ron Paul has consistently voted against government expansion. He clearly sees the underlying source of runaway taxation, namely an imperial government with an endless book of blank checks, written without any representation, drawn against the future earnings of all Americans and their children. As president, he would greatly expand this "war on terror" by bringing the troops home from all around the world, paving the way towards elimination of the hated income tax and the despised IRS.

Tax Terrorism is a despicable conundrum in a "free" society, and another clear example of how the federal government uses fear as one of its most basic tools for controlling the population. Fear of Islamic terrorism may have become all-pervasive since the events of 9-11, but fear of the tax man has been in full force and effect at least since World War II -- all of my personal lifetime. Can YOU remain content to live your life under a government that intentionally uses fear and terror to keep its citizens in line?

If America were to wake up and put a Ron Paul into the office of president, there would be an excellent chance of ending tax terrorism once and for all. Give Americans a taste of real freedom, and can you imagine us going back to the annual April 15th blues ever again? That is why the establishment is so afraid of Ron Paul.

In the meanwhile, consider educating yourself about what the constitution has to say about taxation. I recommend these fine articles by Dave Champion - "Constitutional Issues of Taxation" and "Debunking IRS Lies."

My last article about the IRS [Which Part of Ron Paul's "Eliminate the IRS" Didn't You Understand?] turned out to be wildly popular by Nolan Chart standards, having garnered nearly 600 readers and 47 "Thumbs Up" so far. No, that's not that many - until you stop to consider that, for unknown reasons, it never "saw the light" of a Google listing. Go ahead and search for it on Google, it's not there (unless they sneaked it in very recently when I wasn't looking!) Will this article fare any better? I guess we'll see. [Breaking news: this article just made it into Google's news index.]

Why do YOU file and pay income taxes?

Well, I can thank 'moderate libertarians' for that, such as Alan Greenspan (former chairman of the Fed and Ayn Rand fan), and 'moderate libertarian' Milton Freidman who brought to us the withholding of income tax.  Thanks to modern 'moderate libertarians', the government doesn't actually collect taxes.  Employers do the work and the government just supervises.  If the government dosn't like the results, they come out and steal your stuff.  Having been through Filing Enforcement, Tax Assessment and confiscation (in 1993-1994), it's obvious that the government wins regardless of the problem.  'Moderate libertarianism' might be something like 'compassionate conservatism'...-- excuses for more statism.

Thank you, C. Al, for reporting both your observations on who's guilty and your personal experience with confiscation!

By extension of your we have no one to thank but ourselves for allowing this evil situation to persist. Are you aware that there is nothing in law that allows "employers" to withhold on behalf of the government in the vast majority of cases?

Furthermore, the Christian Church should be "up in arms" over this issue on Biblical grounds - check out "Does The Bible Condemn Tax Withholding?"

William,

Aaron Russo died after a long fight with cancer. He was a true "Freedom Fighter" and he will be sorely missed. Aaron's urging is one of the main reasons that Dr. Paul entered the presidential race.

While something is generally better than nothing, this April 15th "Strike" will be laughed at by the Men Behind the Curtain.

I advocate 5-10 million Americans standing up in unison and shouting..............

"NO....HELL NO !!! WE WON'T FILE...NEVER AGAIN.

This would absolutely throw the IRS into chaos and render them impotent.

Before anyone chastises me for this suggestion, I have put my actions where my mouth is. I did this all by myself a few years ago and have a $170,000 tax lien on my families home. We may lose this home in 3-4 months to IRS theft.

Now if you could only get this message out to the entire country.....

We have to work on that.

To most Ron Paul people the concept of cutting back on spending could make it possible to abolish the IRS. But other people can't understand the concept of a government making ends meet without forceful collection by the government. I wish Ron would spend more time clarifying things like that to people. Abolish is a very powerful and scary word....Maybe we should use " phase-out "  instead. (?)

When "We" the people do abolish the IRS we should make April 15th a national holiday. A day to celebrate, rather than a day to fear. Something like....Liberation Day.

We have to work on that too .

Since I'm quoted in the article, I'd like to expand on my words:

There are IRS agents who routinely employ heuristic searches on all tax filings to determine the PROBABILITY of a successful audit.

I'll let you read that again to make sure you let it hit you.

An audit, according to IRS regs, was originally conducted on a random sample. That is, if you recieved 1000 returns, you picked 3 at random and submitted them to manual analysis. If you found something that didn't fit in any of those three, you put it forward to the auditors and picked three more until you pulled a batch that had no anomlies, and then processed the batch.

During processing, you would look for additional discrepancies if they stood out.

NOW, they submit EVERY SINGLE RETURN through computerized heuristics, comparing it to old returns, bank records -- and other things that theoretically I'm not supposed to mention.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH INFORMATION THE IRS has on you. I could , as an auditor, tell you more about your finances than your own advisors could. As an audit executor, I had police powers exceeding that of the FBI.

You'll notice if you visit the IRS Publication site ( http://www.irs.gov/publications/index.html )  that Publication 591, 594, 902, and particularly 903 aren't availble. And you can't even ORDER 903. Those are the IRS publications and rules on collections, audits, and other information.

I'd also like to point out there are well over 3,500 active and over 2,000 inactive IRS publications. Most run anywhere from 100 pages to the massive 2900 page Pub 532. (haha, you can't get that one either, which is appropiate since it's about corporate deductions).

Your up against a super-mega corporation with national level police powers, tentacles in EVERY financial institution, thousands of armed agents, and rules so impenetrable that there is actually a publication which is nothing but an index...of indexes...of publication notes.

You are also up against thousands -- no , tens of thousands of tax preparers, and accountants, and tax managers. Tens of thousands of tax laywers. Probably hundreds of thousands of people in retail addicted to a bump in mid February through April from refund spending in an otherwise slow period.

You have your work cut out for you if you plan to abolish the Imperial Ruling Supremacy -- I mean, the IRS.

Logical Premise,

I profoundly appreciate your expansion of your viewpoint here. Such "insider information" should be chilling to almost anyone not already on that particular "gravy train."

I am also quite thankful to discover that, while you and I are nominally at opposite poles of the Nolan Chart, you seem to have a pretty good grasp of what I would be inclined to describe as the "massive and cancerous evil" of this particular arm of the state.

I don't mean to sound as if there are no other solutions except drastic ones. I sincerely hope this can be resolved peacefully.

I'm just not in the mood to be intellectual. I'm mad as hell.

Right now, I'll leave the intellectualism up to those who, at least, have some breathing room. Guys like me are the Kamakazies (sic). We'll need both before this is over.

I can do that.

When the government comes to steal your stuff, they gots da guns and stuff.  They are the law.  Kind-a-like in the movie 'Treasure of Sierra Madre' (when ya gots da guns, you don't need no stinkin' badges).  Not only do they have the guns, they got the courts and the judges, too.

To learn the real truth about the income tax and save your property if you have made the serious mistake of not filing. The most definitive book ever written on the income tax is Cracking the Code, The Fascinating Truth About Taxation In America by Peter Hendrickson. Let him teach you how to apply the rule of law to the income tax. You'll start back in 1862 with the first income tax and apply the rule of in para materia to all those following, i.e. they all apply to the same subject matter. Read the book to learn what the surprising subject matter is.

Actually , Creator, working for the IRS is what made me into a statist.

Without a strong government, organs like the IRS will creep into any form of government again and again. If the government had any spine or power, they would crack down on the IRS and clean out the crooks.

But I'm sorry, when I've seen senior directors scream at senators like a boss insulting a temp, I know where the balance of power lies. As long as we have a government which is beholden to the whim of the people, lobbyists, and trying to hide things from the people, you'll have groups like the IRS.

I'm actually rather hesitant to go into too much detail. *coughs* Let's just say -- seriously folks -- that you want to kind of be careful when putting the IRS , tax, or especially "tax reform" into titles or keywords of your stories.

Otherwise, Jason L. Connors or whoever is working Public Measures that week might see your story and wonder if ol' Walt needs a good audit.

The quintessential manual on screwing the system, 450 years old, "Politics of Obedience: The Discourse of Voluntary Servitude". Simply take yourself off of the productive side of the GDP equation and insert yourself on the destructive side.

consumption + gross investment + government spending + (exportsimports). Import more commodities, engineered-obsolescence durables, and energy, export nothing, and become a civil servant, or better yet, a gov't contractor, or subcontractor thereof. Move all your high pay positions overseas, and Spend maximal amounts of your revenue lobbying and advertising for the expansion of gov't services.  Denning, chairman of General Atlantic, provides a good role model.
