Topic: Ron Paul
Ron Paul Supporters Ignore Ralph Nader

With a focus split between what to do when the Dr. Paul ends his Presidential campaign and how to convince the Texas Congressman to switch parties it seems there is little or no attention being given to Ralph Nader by Ron Paul’s supporters.

Ron Paul is a candidate who embraces liberty and freedom. He stands on a record of defending the Constitution and taking his oath of office seriously. If someone were to search Google Images for Ron Paul there will eventually come to the screen a morphed picture of Dr. Paul as Thomas Jefferson. Ralph Nader mentioned in his announcement to enter the race once again there needs to be a Jeffersonian style revolution in this country again.

With this type of statement why is it there is little movement within the Ron Paul cyber world regarding Nader? There are numerous Paul supporters seeking a third party candidate to embrace and many more desiring Paul to be that candidate. Out of the darkness of realization Ron Paul will not be doing anything during the general election except running a campaign to return to Congress as a Republican it could be expected that a large number may actually begin to embrace Nader for President.

Don't count on it. Ralph Nader has a very interesting platform with several areas that may sound good to the ear from many. In his "12 Issues that Matter for 2008" there are some that are targeted at corporate greed and his venomous distaste for the two major parties is clear. He appears as a champion for the people yet his 40 years has shown he is not a champion of the Constitution. When his campaign attempts to figure out why there is so little attention or connection with the freedom loving revolutionaries that Dr. Paul has touched look no further than a single comment to begin to understand.

"It is time for this country to move to a direct democracy." This is according to Ralph Nader, among other changes his Jefferson style revolution supports he wants a complete end to the federalist republic experiment approaching its 220th Anniversary of Ratification this year. It's good you are in the race Mr. Nader, it is your right and the two major parties need your thorn. However, Ron Paul supporters aren't ignoring you by accident sir, they simply can never embrace you as you are not a defender of the Constitution so precious to most of us.

Any Ron Paul supporter will never go support a marxist.  Ron Paul is probably the biggest and most feared movement of this century.

I'd doubt Nader would get any support from supporters of the Ron Paul movement.

I'm glad Nader is around. I agree with his third party participation and it's stated goal of providing sincere competition to the major party duopoly. I also agree with his disdain for government by corporate collusion and decree. However, the appeal ends there. His solutions require more power in the hands of elected officials. This is in direct opposition to the Ron Paul message. Therefore, he will not get my vote.

However, it would do all Ron Paul supporters well to observe the response to Ralph Nader not only by the MSM but from the DNC. It's not personal. It's about maintaining power regardless the source of the threat.

WASHINGTON - Inflation at the wholesale level soared in January, pushed higher by rising costs for food, energy and medicine.

The Labor Department said Tuesday that wholesale prices rose 1 percent last month, more than double the 0.4 percent increase that economists had been expecting.

The January surge left wholesale prices rising by 7.5 percent over the past 12 months, the fastest pace in more than 26 years, since prices had risen at a 7.5 percent pace in the 12 months ending in October 1981.

I'm an RP supporter and I like to repeatedly point out why I will never support Nader.

I spent my childhood riding around in a Corvair.  I lived.  So did everyone else in my family.  So did everyone who rode in my father's first Corvair, even when it got hit by a drunk driver.

The fact that he wants to un-break the sky by punishing me for driving my current car to work doesn't do much to mitigate my disdain for him.

Nader did a great deal of good as consumer advocate. But unfortunately he's made a fool of himself as the perennial preznit candidate - it's kinda dimmed the good works he did.

Anyway, we have the Perfect alternative candidate - Ron Paul !! We don't need Nader this time around.

Ron Paul for the Long Haul

What liberals such as Ralph Nader fail to realize is that their creation of government agencies that are given power to supposedly solve perceived problems are the cause of many of our problems today. These agencies are taken over by the very people that the liberals want to regulate, and the corruption and corporatism that Ron Paul and others speak about negate the free market. Why these liberals cannot grasp this concept I've yet to figure out.

As a Ron Paul Supporter and someone equally concerned about the power and control that government agencies like the EPA, FDA, and the CDC, etal, have exerted over our rights to own land that is not polluted by chemical and oil corporations, freedom from forced medications and toxic vaccines (bioprepardeness act), true freedom to assemble and protest (not be held blocks away from intended targets), freedom to address a government of tyranny without fear of reprisals, (no more arrest without warrants or detainment without charges and proof) freedom to prevent secrecy of all government agencies in which those secrets harm our rights further while protecting criminals in office from any prosecution, (No more throwing crimes against our country or its citizens under the protection of National Security) that only denies the public the right to know the truth "when" they can make informed choices to stop the lies and deciet-

No, as a Ron Paul supporter I could never endorse Nader who has not cared enough to seriously addressed all the current threats to our Constitutional rights.

If our Constitutional rights are protected, and upheld, then the environment that Nader professes to care about is really protected instead of protecting big business to futher destroy it after stealing it from citizens. The key to protecting the environment is not to strip land ownership from the citizens but to fully prosecute big business that is destroying it. Nonetheless, the land ownership should always remain in the citizens control...not the UN or UNESCO, or even newer criminals like those who are using Emminent domain to confiscate our land for the Texas Trans Corridor.

Protect our second amendment rights and the crime goes down because an armed citizen can defend themselves and they are not at the mercy of their governemnt to get there in time to supposedly "save" them. If corrupt agencies and corrupt elected officials are held accountible to the letter of the law and the power of the people to hold them accountible is restored, we will indeed see more people have the ability to pursue happiness because the true corruption will finally be addressed.

Nader helped create the EPA and this has done little to protect the environment and more importanly citizens. But it has enabled the elite to walk away because they gained EPA approval to posion us. We the people will never win when they are allowed to use an agency like the EPA to walk away from facing their crimes while they steal all our rights to defend ourselves.

Nader needs to get behind Ron Paul if he has a shred of integrity left. This race is not over by  along shot! The delegates who SHOW up at the convention in September are the ONLY deciding factors here. All of these primaries up to now are only dog and pony shows. I pray to God people really educate themselves enough to understand our real political process well enough to know  none of this means a thing yet.

The MSM can call the nomination for McCain all they want and it doesn't mean squat. Read the fine print on their sites about the delegates...see the truth for yourself. It means nothing yet. Ron Paul still has a very good chance to get the nomination because there are a LOT of delegates up for grabs. Again, their votes do not matter until September and the delegates can change them anytime they want until that point as well. McCain continues to show his instability, irrationality, and his lust for more war to fill the war coffers. He will hang himself from his own mental pervertions before September...Mark my word.

If we want to restore our Constitutional rights, reverse this dictatorship we have been thrust into, and prevent the final nail in the coffin of this country called the NAU (North American Union) then we need to fight for, and vote for, the only man in this race who will do just that. That man is Ron Paul.

It matters not to a vast majority of Paul's supporters if he gets the nomination or not-we WILL still write him in. Nader will get nothing but he will be seen as just another political ruse to split the vote to ensure a McCain nomination. Is that his true intent here?

Pamela,
Too bad Nader could not have done everything to address all the threats the constitution to your satisfaction. Too bad he couldn't do that, and defend your rights and safety good enough, with all the powerful media attention he commands, and all the money he gets from supporters like you. Too bad he couldn't stop corporations and a corrupt government from neutering the EPA. Nader is just so powerful, with little money and a handful of dedicated supporters, compared to people like Bush, Obama, and the Exxon. Is Nader supposed to try to give the public tools to defend their rights with, and also fight for you? If you didn't want the EPA taken over by corporations or neutered by a corrupt government, maybe you should have helped stop it. Nobody can force people to choose a democracy, or even to help fight to hold onto what others have fought to give them.

[link edited for length]

I know Nader's fought hard and I don't hear even you deny that, just that he hasn't done enough. Ron Paul denounced the two party duopoly that has Nader scrambling just to get on a ballet to give voters another choice, year after year. He's born labels like spoiler and socialist, just because he thinks there should be more than illusory choices in a democracy, and sometimes citizens need tools to protect themselves from corporations who ruin the land and take away people's rights to affect their own national government or foreign policy. Oh yeah, in the wealthiest nation in the word, that has a history of exploitation to gain such, he thinks not dying because of appendicitis is a right, not an elite privilege. He actually wants the government to be a tool of the people, and not of a wealthy minority, and refuses to back down on his principals, just to get corporate electoral sponsorship. He thinks the people deserve choices that the corporations don't need to grant. I get it, what a commie jerk with no integrity.

You may get your wish, as I don't know if he has another fight after this, but you never know. He's held up this long. I don't know if we'll even get a chance at an election like this again. Bush or Obama, if they get in, will have 4 more years, with the power of an elite controlled Congress and Senate, and all the powers of the Patriot act, to make sure they don't get a close call like this again.

I hope you don't end up being mad at Dr. Paul too, for not doing enough, actually waking you up, and then leaving you to think for yourself.

Liberty for all is not the same as no government protections.
We all declare for liberty; but in using the same word we do not all mean the same thing. With some the word liberty may mean for each man to do as he pleases with himself, and the product of his labor; while with others, the same word may mean for some men to do as they please with other men, and the product of other men's labor. Here are two, not only different, but incompatible things, called by the same name - liberty. And it follows that each of the things is, by the respective parties, called by two different and incompatible names - liberty and tyranny." The Collected Works of Abraham Lincoln edited by Roy P. Basler, Volume VII, "Address at Sanitary Fair, Baltimore, Maryland" (April 18, 1864), p. 301-302. [link edited for length]
