Real value Ron Paul dollars verses FED fiat funny money We have on the one hand real value money that has a 50% backing by metal and on the other funny money with no value on the other. Which is better?by Michael McDonnough

I would guess you were under a rock on Thursday if you did not notice that over 2 tons of Ron Paul liberty dollars were seized by federal agents on Wednesday morning. The owner of the business that is making and marketing the coins Von NotHaus stated that the raid was carried out and that all of the brand new shipment of 2 tons of Ron Paul dollars was seized along with a lot of other coins and bills.
What was the reason for this raid is hard to say at this point as neither the fed nor NotHaus are telling the details as of today. The obvious problem would likely be the approximately 50,000 + Ron Paul dollar coins that were confiscated. The feds would not want one of the pushed to the side Presidential candidates to have a coin in wide circulation with his face on it during an election. That would tend to point out the fact that Ron Paul is founding father material in a rather poignant and graphic way now wouldn't it.
It could not have anything to do with the fact that one of Ron Paul's platform points is the legalization of such competing currency now could it? I viewed this story all day with an extremely skeptical viewpoint. I am not one to trust the highly secretive and elitist federal government as it is a given fact that they have not worked for the common citizen like me during my lifetime.
I am sure that the Federal Reserve is highly pissed off at Ron Paul for exposing their fraudulent game to the world as in the recent very public chaffing that Ron Paul gave fed chair Ben Bernanke which is now a favorite of mine on youtube. Perhaps this raid was in retribution for the fact that Ron Paul's likeness was on a lot of this currency that has an actual metal value while the Federal Reserve notes are now falling at such an alarming rate and are approaching their inherent value. (Nothing)
Of course Ron Paul did not authorize his likeness on the Ron Paul dollar but I am sure his enemies in the federal something for nothing camp will try to use this incident against him. We have on the one hand a great man who only wants to turn over a world that has some value and hope for freedom to his grandchildren like Ron Paul going up against the complete frauds like the Federal Reserve Bank shysters on the other hand with their muscle in the federal police forces. One advocates freedom and republican values and the other represents repression, forced acceptance of worthless monetary units, tyranny and continued war on the other.
I for one will vote for Ron Paul the one who is on the side of the American people's best interest. The banksters who hawk their worthless paper can shove it where the Sun don't shine which is about what it will soon be worth for all I care.

I couldnt have set it better myself. If these coins would have made it to the mainstream circulation, everyone and their mother would have wanted one of these coins and Ron Paul would have the election in the bag. Instead, the Feds freak out on their power trips and try to ruin anything that is good. This is a sad day in America thats for sure. Im sickened by this immoral act and am ashamed to be an American today.
Anyways, all is not lost, this news will no doubt reach national headlines and international headlines and people will become curious. The Feds cannot take away the fire inside the people.
Michael, I read all your articles and you normally give spot-on analysis. But this time I think you are really stretching things. The raid probably has nothing to do with Ron Paul or the Fed. This article makes you sound like a black helicopter conspiracy theorist. I think you are better than that. Even if your into conspiracy theories wouldn't it be more likely that this raid is the DOJ retaliating to a case Von Nothaus filed against them?
The feds will probably claim that the coins (sorry, metal discs) somehow violated FEC election laws or something. It will have nothing to do with the legality of using the Liberty Dollar as barter (we can't call it currency, can we?). The great thing about this incident is it will help bring discussion of competing currency out into the public arena. It also is just another example of an abusive government. Every time something like this happens it will convince one or two more people that liberty is slipping away.

Jackson,
Perhaps it had nothing to do with Ron Paul dollars. I think the timing of the raid coming after last Friday's shipment of the 2 tons of Ron Paul dollars was pretty conveniently timed to do the most possible damage to Von NotHaus. They have known about his operation for a long time, why right now for the raid? Think about it.
I'd say it has more to do with "boerderline counterfeiting." If they'd called them "dineros" or "rupees" or "cowries" or anything but "dollars"...complete with the $ symbol, they would have been sitting pretty...but no, they had to go and get cute. Von NutHouse asked for it, and he got it. No one should be surprised.
I hate the Fed too, but come on - it'd be a real mess if anyone that wanted to could print or mint their own dollars.
they should seize the coins that have chocolate inside, and the parker bro's monopoly money, heck its what the value of our paper money is worth the same
LOL, im much safer now that money terrorism has been brought to justice.
Oops, looks like someone IS printing their own currency. But since it's not backed by gold or silver, I guess the feds think it's ok.

Michael, I agree that the Feds probably waited untill this large shipment came in so that they could cause maximum damage. However, I think they would do the same if Mother Taresa was stamped on the coins.
I think it's too late for the government to suppress anything. Sure they have kept that shipment of Ron Paul dollars from going out for now but they have created an even more sensational story by doing the raid and stealing the coins. Ron Paul dollars already in circulation are being sold on ebay for hundreds of dollars and that's another story. Some people are donating the money from the sale of the coins to the Ron Paul campaign and that's more news. If they would have let them be sold, it probably wouldn't have been much news but now it's vaulted right into msm.
Each story done brings more name recognition for Ron Paul and highlights that the Fed is devaluing the dollar right down to nothing.
It sucks for everyone that isn't getting their coins and for NotHaus who is going to have to fight the feds and the Fed tooth and nail (while his bank accounts are frozen) to get his property back but the raid has made this international news. The first that I heard about it was from a site in Italy and now news of the theft is all over the place and will likely continue to grow.

Jackson.
You may be right but the fact remains that Ron Paul is magnifying our constitutional right to have a Gold and Silver value backed system not debt backed currency system in place.
It is one of his most serious platform planks consequentially for the US Mint and the Federal Reserve Bank so they might well be scrambling to kill off the competition before they no longer have legal grounds. When people understand that the constitution was not amended to remove any value from our currency. The constitution still states that Gold and Silver are to be legal tender. We have a constitutional right to have a saving and spending medium that will hold its value.
If not the poor and middle class will eventually become so poor that upward mobility is nearly impossible for the disadvantaged. We lose our incentive to save when the value of our money keeps sliding. Alternative fuels is starting to look real good right about now and so is alternative money.
I understand that you must file a claim in Federal Court within 10 days for the return of your property, or the feds will claim that it was illegal contraband that was seized. Don't depend on your attorney to advise you correctly, because he represents the other side under maritime law.
