Topic: Ron Paul
Semper Fi, Mac Is there an explanation for the overwhelming financial support Republican Presidential candidate Ron Paul receives from the military? I believe there is.by A Plebian

Ron Paul served his country as a flight surgeon during the Vietnam Conflict (another undeclared war). Yet you never here Dr. Paul mentioning this fact repeatedly like a broken record. Unlike his competition, Dr. Paul does not parade his status as a veteran around like a prize pony in order to garner votes. No, Dr. Paul's carries his military service like the majority of American veterans do; honorably and humbly. Having served in an un-winnable war he cannot consent to putting his fellow servicemen and women into yet another.
In my humble opinion, most current and former members of the armed forces hold our country's founding documents in higher esteem than citizens who have not served. "For those who haven't fought for it, freedom has a taste the protected will never know." They take their oath to uphold the Constitution against all enemies very seriously.
The powerful elites in this country and their servants in the media largely ignore Dr. Paul's overwhelming military support. I am sure they wonder among themselves, "why do the idiots in the military support him" The elites cannot understand that the typical GI is anything but typical. Military men and women hold things like honor, courage and commitment to their country above all else. They are the kind of people that an oath, once taken, is never ignored. They support Ron Paul because they support and defend the Constitution. They see in Dr. Paul a fellow traveler in the journey to a return to a Constitutional Republic.

Great article. One suggestion, however. The header implies that Ron Paul recieves money from the military establishment and not from individual soldiers. I got it after reading, and it's a great article, especialy when it is pointed out that Dr. Paul doesn't wave his service record around like a status symbol. He is truly a humble man!!
As a veteran myself, I have to agree 100%. It's getting to the point to where we may have to assume the role that our founders did: traitors to the tyrannical empire, then stick to your guns. If they aren't careful, those holding the guns may have to re-educate our elected officials as to what a sworn oath really means. It's pretty darn clear that only one man running has any clue about that. The problem is that most (but not all) people (non-military) aren't of the type to honor oathes and hold integrity dear. They only want what is handed to them, cheap and easy. Honor, courage, and commitment are merely uncomfortable words to them. Until that paradigm changes, there will be no change. Hoo-ah!

Dr. Paul is the only one taking that oath seriously, to defend our constitution and the gloriuos REPUBLIC it established, that is why more Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen support Dr. Paul than all the others combined.
