Democratic Landslide Looms Despite Paul and Huckabee’s Efforts! All pundit comments, MSM slant, and John McCain’s hopes aside the numbers from the primary voting so far don’t lie about the direction the 2008 election is heading. Democrats can rejoice as the GOP coronation of McCain is creating a significant landslide victory coming in November.by Gary Wood

Today on CNN Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul refused to be a part of the Republican Party's coronation of Senator John McCain. When asked if his staying in the race was hurting the party Governor Huckabee replied, ""Not staying in the race hurts the GOP. If the party wants to have a coronation rather than an election, then set up the rules like that." Dr. Paul meanwhile reminded everyone, "I was very reluctant to enter the race, didn't think it would last more than a month or two, but to my amazement, we literally got hundreds of thousands of supporters and millions of dollars, and they are still very enthusiastic."
These two appear to be the only actively involved GOP ranking members that aren't jumping on the McCain bandwagon. For their efforts Huckabee will no doubt have a real challenge being an integral part of the Republican National Committee's future plans while Congressman Paul is being targeted by his own party for his 14th District Congressional Seat in Texas. Yet these two are stopping more defection among the rank and file voters, the base and foundation of the party. As more candidates drop out of the race, as Senator McCain starts to receive more endorsements from the party elite the number of actual Republican voters is declining. As this number declines it is creating an obvious landslide victory for the Democrats, no matter their nominee.
So far there have been 23 primaries where both the Democrat and Republican candidates were involved (caucuses and split primary dates not included). The 4 January primaries showed voter turnout slightly in favor of the Republican Party, 53% to 47%. Once the Florida primary was completed we began to see the emergence of John McCain as the likely nominee, picking up more key party official endorsements along the way. By Super Tuesday the Democratic voters began to clearly lead in going to the polls, 62% to 38% for the GOP.
Once Super Tuesday was over the coronation of John McCain became obvious with only two opponents (and Keyes of course) daring to stay in the race to give Republican voters a choice. In the 5 primaries since the torch has been passed to Senator McCain the voters are responding by staying home. The Republican voter has only accounted for 29% of the total votes cast while the Democrats have captured 71%. The margin in Wisconsin was even greater, 27% to 73% and the pattern is being set for the upcoming General Election.
In the event there is no viable third-party or Independent candidate to woo the disenfranchised Republican voters out to the polls there will be a major landslide victory for the Democratic ticket. If the ticket is Hillary Clinton it may be closer than if Barack Obama takes the nomination but either one will handily defeat Senator McCain. Why? John McCain is losing the GOP rank and file. He does not inspire nor unite the party. No matter what spin the media and the Republican elite want to put on this race, there is no real race because the elephant is hurt. The question being asked shouldn't be if Huckabee or Paul is hurting the party, the real question should be is there any way to repair the damage the coronation of John McCain is causing?

My sentiments exactly...I've been predicting this to family/friends now for awhile.
DON'T BE A SHEOPLE...VOTE FOR RON PAUL IN THE PRIMARIES...THAT'S MARCH 4th IF YOU ARE IN OHIO LIKE ME
You have to also take into account that 8 years of Bush is also hurting the Republican party.
The SOB won in 2000 with the platform of limited govt, no nation building, humble foreign policy, etc. then after 8 years he had the EXACT OPPOSITE of what he promised in election season.
Endless, pointless war, runaway inflation, destruction of the dollar, 935 lies, the most Constitution burning probably in our history, and his refusal to listen to what the people want.
Yes, it's true the Democrats will dominate in November, this has been known for a long time. But this isn't necessarily because McCain is a terrible opponent (and he is), but it's because the word "Republican" has grown extremely repulsive thanks to Bush.

Well, don't forget that most Republican rank-and-file probably consider the Republican nomination race to be over. That could also explain the lower turnout. I'm not disputing the likelihood that the Democrats will win this year, but I wouldn't go too far with your analysis.
with the exception of the Fair Tax (a detailed plan for sweeping economic reform), ALL the candidates are same-ol, same-ol..."...here's what I will do..." without answering the question of "just HOW are you going to do that? HOW are you going to get Democrats and Republicans in Congress to agree with what YOU want to do?". Hillary, Barack, or John, it's 4 more years of the same...
Interesting to note it's down to 3 sitting Senators, who have been Senators while all the problems they're about to fix became problems...3 sitting Senators who have taken a year off with pay to try to get a new job...

It seems to me the entire process was rigged. New Hampshire Independents had large meetings to debate whether to vote for Obama or McCain. Obama was hugely ahead in polls. Independents decided for McCain. Obama lost. McCain was on his way.
I read in one article, "Western American Union," [ [link edited for length] ] that McCain's top media guru is planning to switch to Obama if Obama gets the nomination.
My family and I live in Ohio and everywhere we drive, we don't see any other candidates campaign signs except for Ron Paul, so if that's any indication as to who the people truly want to be their next president, I don't know what is.
There is only one candidate that can change the direction of this country and that's Ron Paul. Whether or not he can win is not the issue. Ron Paul is the only candidate that's right for the job...PERIOD!
Good comments and feedback, thanks everyone. I agree Walt, there are other factors and I'm not saying it will be 71-29 landslide but it will be significant unless the GOP can find a way to bring the rank and file to the polls. Joe M, he is the only one who truly understands the job and what the repsonsibilities of it are however there are other candidates that can help with the Paul type changes. Stay focused on your local races please!
Just cause Republicans don't like McCain doesn't mean they won't vote for him over any Democrat he runs against. I imagine it will still come down to only a few points difference in the General election. The only way Reps are going to lose voters would be if Ron Paul ran on an independent ticket and some of the conservative base moved into his camp.
Garry good comment on local races. We should start trying to change things from the bottom up. That way in the future when someone like Dr. Paul is elected, he'll actualy be able to get something done. If he were elected now. He would have a huge fight on his hands because of who runs the rest of our government.

If Obama gets away with his facade, there will be a Democratic landslide. But if someone makes a lot of noise about his "Liberation Theology" Marxism, the GOP will have a chance to win.
One blog I recommend, "America's Culture of Conservatism," [ [link edited for length] ] highlighted an article stating that the GOP has said "drop dead" to conservatives. But I think what has really happened is the liberal media helped McCain rise to the top while the GOP is still hugely conservative. McCain will fail and conservatives will reassert themselves in the GOP in the future. Ron Paul should stay in the GOP.
