Ron Paul Losing Presidential Idol Watching a promotion for American Idol it was amazing how similar the show is in format to the Presidential Primaries and it is clear now that, although he is among the final 5 contestants, based on the judges input Ron Paul is not going to win Presidential Idol.by Gary Wood

American Idol starts out with many possible contestants and its whittled down to the top 24, 12 male and 12 female competitors. Then the voters begin to cast their votes while the judges continue to influence decisions. In Presidential Idol the judges, mainstream media and the two party's elite, influence the voters based on their assessments of different performances by the contestants. We started with the top 8 Democrats and the top 12 Republicans.
It would appear the voices singing songs of liberty and freedom were the early losers with contestants such as Tancredo, Hunter, Thompson, Kucinich, and Gravel being knocked out early. The judges don't appear to appreciate this type of message in 2008. The lone voice left on either side still attempting the genre is Ron Paul. (Mike Huckabee has performed a few renditions but overall his is a mixed message.)
The final two Democrats in the race, Clinton and Obama, sing a message of ending the Iraq war while not ending interventionist policies. Their favorite messages surround the idea of more government giving the voters more 'entitlements' while increasing spending and taxes. The judeges favorite performer on the Republican side, John McCain, sings a message of long-term occupation throughout the world while limiting taxes and limiting spending (which will no doubt be necessary to fund the long-term occupation goals). The judges weigh in daily and voters are taking the judges recommendations to heart as they pour out in record numbers on the Democrat side and fewer Republicans seem to be interested in the contest as the competition heads into its final stages.
"Hope for America" was an unpopular message from the start with our judges. "Change" in the tune of bigger government and more 'entitlements' seems to be the genre favored most by judges and voters alike. However, even with these obvious preferences during the Presidential Primaries I'm also reminded of another aspect of American Idol we may yet see come to fruition.
Remember Taylor Hicks? He won American Idol two seasons ago. He had a record contract for one year and was not picked up for a second year. In the meantime losers from two seasons ago include such artists as Chris Daughtrey (album of the year finalist), Kelly Pickler, Bucky Covington, and Catherine McPhee who are all doing quite well in their respective genres.
Voters may select those contestants the judges favor early on but in the long run the true artists win out. Liberty and freedom artists, in the long run, are bound to follow in this pattern as people will grow tired of the songs sung by Clinton, Obama, or McCain after dealing with the actual results these winners will produce over the next four years. "Hope for America" will be more popular than any of today's judges can imagine in 2012 and our 2008 Presidential Idol winner will not have their contract renewed.

That's exactly what i was thinking. Therein lies the key to understanding how crap like american idol dumbs us all down, whether we watch it or not. Scary, isnt it? As a student of sociology, it fascinates me! I wish people would realize what they're really up against.
It is a fascinating study of people in the U.S. When more watch and vote on Amer. Idol each week than in the election process or regarding the political future of this country you begin to realize how the founders felt we'd end up with the type of government we deserve.
