THE TRUTH HURTS
220 years ago, in Philadelphia, a new nation was created, bound by 28 principles based upon natural law. Adherence to those principles enabled that new nation to endure several attacks, challenges and a brutal civil war to become, in less than 150 years, the most prosperous, generous, free and revered society in history. "Huddled masses" came to its shores asking only for freedom and an opportunity to prosper. They became Americans.
Sometime ago, I can't say when or why, but certainly in the last 70 years, those very principles that succeeded so wonderfully were abandoned for policy that has failed miserably. Look at us now! Here are just a few examples:
Our Federal government is $9 trillion in debt, about $30,000 per live human or about $60,000 per taxpayer. This does not include the many trillions in unfunded entitlements (such as Social Security) that have been taken forcefully from us for "safekeeping".
We have a Federal government that must use 25% of its revenues to pay the interest on its debt.
We are spending 20% of our personal income on health care. 70 years ago we were spending 5%. Could this be because half of the funds spent on health care are "public" funds?
We have people graduating from college with 10's to 100's of thousands of dollars of debt to take jobs that may never recover those costs.
We have what has been promoted as a prosperous economy, but ignored is the fact that it has been fueled by public and private debt and a struggling currency.
We have an inflated, overvalued stock market driven by false demand created by (among other things) tax deferred investments.
We had a booming real estate market fueled not by value but by loose credit and low interest rates at the behest of government.
We hear of high levels of home ownership where in reality many "owners" have little or no equity in their largest investment, their residence!
We hear false boasts of job creation but mostly in those sectors where the government is already providing half the funding...education and health care.
The infinite wisdom of government has succeeded in creating an environment that has resulted in the export of most of our manufacturing capacity and jobs.
Our poverty rate has been fluctuating between 11% and 15% for over 40 years, despite the trillions of dollars redistributed in the war on poverty.
We have a slate of Presidential wannabes that, when they're not bickering like spoiled brats, are out promising the voters whatever they want, paid for by others and with no reference to the source of their authority to do so.
And most offensively "those smarter than I" think they can make it all better by giving me a few hundred dollars that was mine in the first place. Shall we call it a "Stupid" check?
For 34 years I have been voting for the lesser of 2 (or more) evils. What I really want is a candidate that won't lower himself to the petty name-calling to which we've become accustomed. I'd like a candidate that has studied, understands and respects the Constitution; that realizes how it nurtured a great nation only to be relegated to mediocrity through arrogance, ignorance and selfishness. How bout a candidate that appeals to the voters not by promising them what they want, but by telling the truth, regardless of how painful it may be? How about a candidate that can back his positions with a voting record of over 20 years?
I agree with the power-hungry hypocrites in Washington that we need to stimulate the economy. This is why I will be, with great joy, signing my stupid check over to the campaign of Dr. Ron Paul!

Here-here! Well said and well written exposé of the facts. I wish this was required reading for every American.
Now, don't take this personally, as I direct this to all, but consider this: Are you part of the problem or part of the solution? You said yourself that you voted for the lesser of two evils, so you still cast a vote for statism.
Did you or did you not contribute the product of your labor to support socialized welfare, education, food stamps, militarism, etc.?
Did you not indirectly finance the bombs and bullets that have taken the lives of thousands in politically motivated wars of aggression?
Are you giving the government your sanction by contributing to the very things that you oppose?
What you seek may not be found by ballot box, but look at yourself and your own actions. For freedom is as much about the choices we make as it is about choices imposed upon us.
