American Idol, Barack Obama, And FOX's Ron Paul Song And Dance FOX is still a manipulative, dishonest and untrustworthy news source, but we watch them anyway...by Scott from Oregon

I started watching American Idol the season Carrie Underwood took the crown. My mother had fallen gravely ill, and as I sat in her hospital room trying to keep her interested in life, I got her interested in a singing competition (my mother was a singer)which helped pull her through. I wrote about the experience on my personal website a few years back- American Idol, Bo Bice, And My Mum's Vagina.
Since that time, American Idol has been a show I watch with my aging mum, every season on FOX, and therein lies the problem.
Fox is the network that has demonstrated the most outrageous proclivity for political manipulation out of all of the networks. Their disdain for Barack Obama is well documented, and their outright shameful treatment of Ron Paul's presidential bid has been a real eye opener to this American, who actually grew up believing that Americans were fair and honest people who did things fairly (and honestly) when it came to such heady social rituals like choosing a president.
Boy was I wrong. America has fallen as a culture into the third world tier of countries we have all been glad we weren't a citizen of- especially during election time.
We've allowed networks like FOX to be openly hostile to our candidates. We've allowed them to be openly manipulative and dishonest. We've allowed them to force the political process in a direction of THEIR and not OUR choosing. And then we've rewarded them with 30 million viewers a week watching their made-for-mass-consumption singing competition. In a nutshell, we've let Rupert Murdoch get away with it again.
So much has been said about the media's irresponsible manipulation of the presidential election it would be hard for me to say anything new.
I suppose since Fox News refused to make the effort, all I can do is implore you American Idol fans who are supporting FOX to put down your voting phones for just a moment and look into the reasons why FOX is so afraid of a 72 year old candidate named Ron Paul.
Google him. The man can sing!

You tell'em Scott. Over 10 years ago I realized that I was programming myself for an hour of rage each day by watching the news ... usually CNN.
With that epiphany I turned the television off and haven't watched a TV show since. I think if more people would do that the "establishment" would begin to lose its grip. It's addictive, I know, but you can kick the habit. It wasn't hard and both my wife and I feel more peaceful ...
The media is doing it again! and the rank and file republicans don't remember what happend last time. For those of you who don't the media pushed Bob Dole on everyone 12 years ago by virtually silencing Steve Forbes Pat Buchannan and the rest of the crew. As soon as Dole got the nomination, the media turned on him and destroyed him so that Clinton could walz right on by in a landslide. The same thing is going to happen to McCain
Good commentary. Here's the REAL reason the MSM doesn't want Ron Paul around...
"We are grateful to the Washington Post, the NY Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost 40 years....It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supernational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national autodetermination practiced in past centuries."
- David Rockefeller speaking at the Bilderberger meeting in June 1991 in Baden Baden, Germany
Um, any questions?
Ron Paul CAN'T sing.
Ron Paul CAN'T dance.
Ron Paul CAN educate us.
Take the blinders off people - read up on history, politics, science. Learn something new each day or each week. Then teach your friends and family - knowledge is contagious.
