FEMA strikes again!

Clearly among the most devasting after-effects of Hurricane Katrina is that FEMA just won't go away.

Nick Gillespie blogs at Reason.com

Has there ever been such a distillate of government incompetency, government procurement, deliberate carelessness, cronyism, catastrophe profiteering, and a captive population of victims?

FEMA has perfected the art of waste to the point of self-perpetuating waste. NOLA, you are screwed. You are the demonstration project for the bushco approach, "compassionate conservatism," to shrinking government. Making government so onerous that eventually people will begin killing bureaucrats.

What, pray tell, is wrong with just identifying bad federal programs, then shutting them down?

In closing, I want to apologize to trailer trash everywhere for implying that they are associated with FEMA in any way.

Jack, I love your parting shot! :)

I also love Gillespie's suggestion that we replace SNAFU and FUBAR with FEMA... we just need some good subsitute words for the letters. :)

Maybe an ironic rhetorical device that is a bit worn, but cliche only applies when the utterance has lost its power to communicate an idea.

How about "eff everyone, mismanage all?"
