The definition of statism is: A system of government that uses force togain unearned values. Whenever it is wrong for an individual to use force to gain an unearned value, this same standard should apply to the government. If it is wrong for a man to steal, then it is equally wrong for the government to tax the individual. If it is wrong for a man to own another as a slave, then it is equally wrong for the government to enslave the individual, by claiming a right to the fruits of his labor and a fee for owning property in perpetuity. The idea that government is somehow outside the realm of conventional ethics and morality is the most nefarious fraud perpetrated on mankind.
