As much as I hate to admit it, I think we all need to pull the scales from our eyes. If Ron Paul says he will not run on the Libertarian ticket, I believe him.
How many times has he said he will never vote to raise taxes? How many times has he voted to raise taxes?
How many times has he said he will never vote for an unbalanced budget? How many times has he voted for an unbalanced budget?
How many times has he said he will never vote to increase spending? How many times has he voted to increase spending?
Yeah, that's what I thought. He's lived an honest life, and so I trust that when he says he will not run for president on the Libertarian ticket, I am going to take him at his word.
This is why I endorse Christine Smith for president, the second best candidate I have found thus far. She is a Libertarian and has supported Ron Paul for a long time, but she is ready to take the lead when Ron Paul doesn't get the nomination from the Republican party. I still support Dr. Paul 100% as long as he is in this race, because he has a far better chance at winning than Ms. Smith. But let's face it: the Republican party is corrupt, andthey will not let someone they are diametrically opposed to such as Dr. Paul get the nomination, and since he will not run on another ticket, we need to be aware of the next best option, and she is Christine Smith.

I have spoken to Christine Smith, at length. She will make an excellent Libertarian candidate for president.
If you want to know what she is about, she was interviewed on Rollye James radio show. Here is the link: http://www.libertarianforpresident.com/audio/Rollye-James.mp3
Christine Smith seems to be satisfactory. However, we have very limited choices among Libertarians. This would be a good year to have a strong LP candidate. Perhaps a person holding out because of the Ron Paul campaign might announce soon. If LP bylaws allow it, Gary Johnson might cross over, for example, and see the nomination. Even if he does not get the nomination, the act will bring publicity to the LP nomination process.
