Ron Paul's Call To March On Washington DC Is A Charade Parade Why march on Washington DC?by Scott from Oregon
(Libertarian)
Tuesday, February 12, 2008
The talk on the town is that Ron Paul has asked his supporters to come together en masse and march on Washington DC. The actual date of the march is not yet definitive- some want the April 15th tax day and others seem to want June 21st, the anniversary of the Constitution.
Some say both days.
Not certain either is the reason for the march. Is it to promote Ron Paul's run for president? Is it to complain about the manipulative media and bypass them in one giant show of force? Is it to complain about the war and overseas military spending in general? Is it to bring light on the Federal Reserve and their secretive, not-elected role they play in America? Is it to promote immigration reform? Protest the UN? Show disdain for the exclusionary two party system? Protest against taxes?
Do you want liberal anti-war protesters to join your ranks, even if they don't go along with your pro-life abortion stance? Do you want Atheist there protesting the federal governments' bedside relationship with hucksters like Pat Roberts and the like? Do you want Christians there protesting the federal ban on obligatory school prayers and the absence of Intelligent Design lectures in science classes? Do want Muslim groups there protesting the federal governments' incursions into their overseas phone calls? What about Hispanic groups that want their financial plight understood?
When all the chips are spread across the table, which one shines the most? Is the march going to be FOR a man, or for something larger?
Is it the Ron Paul march on Washington DC? Or the American March to reclaim the Constitution and demand that our government get back in its box where the Constitution demands it to stay?
If you want a smaller government, and are sick of how far we have strayed, I say, THINK BIG.

The necessary corollary is of course to "think small" as in a very tinynearly non-existent federal government. Yes, restore the constitutional LIMITS on that monster. It is time for all of us to show up in DC and stuff that sucker back into an impenetrable cage where it can't hurt us ever again.
I go to tell them to get out of my house, out of my wallet, and out of my life!!!I want all my rights restored. You will see me with the .impeach Bush banner!!
I apoligise now to every one for having voted for this Monster. Not once but twice. In our moment of glory(republican domenence in Washington.) something evil Took control of the party. They have done more to bring our great nation to an unseemly end than any armed enemy could have. This march cannot be anything but the beginning of this movement.
We face a entrenched foe. They have usurped the Peoples Right to govern ourselves according to what We think is best.
I get so angry when people tell me I am over reacting. But the government has been more than bold. They move openly against the people now,and no one seems to notice. The media has been bought and paid for and are now absolutely useless as a source of information.Even worse they poison our country with lies, and omission of Needed information. What their doing is nothing short of treason.
I fear for my and my family's birth right as a citizen of this great nation.
We move now or we relent as slaves.Kneel at our masters feet and be happy with whatever scraps they cast down to us lowly civilians.
NO! NO! NO! NO! I cant take any more!!!!!!!!!!!! I will not bend Knee or swear fealty.
I also Go to show My support for the one man who has consistently let my voice be heard through his own.A man that has stood against everything I hate and fear. That man is our beloved Ron Paul. God bless you and yours Doc.Me and mine are with you to whatever end.
Lets make this March a Strong Start .A growing campaign to reclaim our heritage.

Scott, I really don't think you should have to worry about it being a march for the man rather than the movement. Everything I've hear suggests his supporters want it to be an overall rally for the revlution, not just for Dr. Pauls election capaign.
Dr. Paul himself even mensioned something about needing to focus on the bigger picture, the long term goals fo the revolution rather than just this election.
Have you seen, elsewhere in the news, that DHS (the Department of Homeland Security) is now pointing the finger and telling us to be suspicious of PREGNANT WOMEN as potential terrorists?
Excuse me, but in this nation of 303 million people, we can't find 303 terrorists -- one in a million. That means 99.9999% of Americans don't deserve this at all. At any given time, lots of women are pregnant, and letting nature take its course, they can't "turn it off," e.g., to avoid suspicion at the airport.
Even the women who aren't pregnant can relate to the condition, and men can relate to having responsibility for a pregnant woman. THEY HAVE GONE TOO FAR!!! --I refer to DHS and the overlords of the war on terror.
In order to go after terrorists who might be .0001% of the population, they don't mind inconveniencing 99.9999%, the rest of us. They are running their cloak-and-dagger games with other bad guys. To some degree it's understandable that spy agencies have to worry about other spy agencies. (Even if Al-Qaeda is no longer run by a spy agency, it got its start due to US/CIA support, back in the 80s when we were backers of Osama Bin Laden. We could think of Al-Qaeda as sort of a spy agency without a country.) My point is that they should run their cloak-and-dagger games with cloak-and-dagger guys -- and leave alone the civilian American pregnant women! THEY HAVE GONE TOO FAR!!!
American men ought to feel protective of their women. Basically, your woman has just been accused of terrorism. THEY HAVE GONE TOO FAR!!! --This is a great reason in itself to march on Washington. UNHAND AMERICA'S PREGNANT WOMEN!!! (And I may mean that literally. This sounds like another excuse to have ever more invasive searches by DHS/TSA guys who cop a feel at the airport.)
I swear that every American should be incensed at this point. Why can't the spy agencies leave civilians out of their spy games?
What I'm about to say may upset Ron Paul supporters (of which I am one) but the gesture of a "people's march" on washington D. C. is a gesture that is too little and too late. Paul, whether through vote rigging or voter apathy has lost. (Not that he had much of a chance going up against the establishment to begin with) It's far better now to A) make sure that he retains his Texas congressional seat. B) try to find additional individuals that think somewhat like him and see that those patriots get elected and C) do whatever you can to see that a third party, namely the Libertarians get major party status so that we don't simply have to chose between the Republican or Democractic candidates any longer.
We need to think about the Liberty March on a large scale. There have been several marches on Washington with attendance estimates close to one million, notably the Million Man March in October 1995. Ron Paul says ours has to be big, or it will be an embarrassment. Shouldn’t we try to make it the largest in history?
In addition to filling all the planes and trains, a million people is going to require 200,000 vehicles – cars, motorcycles, vans, busses, motor homes. The convoy of 40,000 vehicles coming down I-95 from the north will stretch for 200 miles and take 4 hours to pass. The convoys from the west will be even larger.
This is larger than the Ron Paul campaign. 160,000 people contributed to the Ron Paul campaign in Q4 of 2007. We need 7 times that many people to march on Washington. We need the anti-tax protest. We need the anti-war protest. We need every college kid. We need the libertarians. We need the legalize marijuana crowd. We need the small government crowd. We need the fiscal conservatives. We need the Constitutionalists. We need everyone who’s tired of lobbyists and special interests running the country.
We need to attract a wide range of people. I suggest calling it the "Liberty March" with a slogan, “We want our liberty back!” We make this huge. We make it the second American revolution. Otherwise, we’re a joke at the end of the evening news.
Right on, JC Cunningham.Let's do it. Spread the word far and wide. Contact as many of these groups as we can. We can have millions of people at this march.

I don't think the march is about the November election or about changing the odds of Paul getting the nomination during some historical fluke at the convention. I think it is about momentum. Ron Paul is a Republican and he wants the GOP to change. The only way to do that, win or lose, is to keep as much of the Revolution's momentum going as possible.
The march serves to confirm how large the movement is. Fewer people will wander away if they think they are involved with something big.
Ron Paul is thinking big. He is thinking about as far into our future as any man alive. The march is to keep the short-attention-span-theater crowd from going back to whatever they were doing before.
Or maybe it will help a lot of delegates who are disillusioned by McCain's liberalism decide that Paul is the right guy.
All I know is that whatever benefit comes from the march, a bigger march will be more beneficial.
I do not think Ron Paul has lost as Rocketman states! I intend to write in a vote for Ron Paul when election day arrives. It aint over til it's over. I continue to meet people who have never heard of Ron Paul and are very interested in what he stands for when I tell them. I still have hope for America . If nothing else, Ron Paul has defined what politicians should be vvoting for. If Ron Paul does not win this election, He has definitly made a mark on the election process. There will be another election and more people determined to decrease the federal government and give the power back to the states and to the people. The constitution is worth looking at again to interpreting it the way the founding fathers intended. They never expected government to pick it apart to the point it has been disassembled. They tried to think of every thing when they wrote it. They never expected the King to be replaced by a million money hungry lawyers. The federal government is so good at running things, that in the federally controled banking industry we have todays Mortgage failures, last years savings and loan debacle. We have the department of energy and department of commerce allowing Enron. We have the ATF shooting inocent families. we have taxation with out representation. How about just the fact that you have to pay tax on the refund you are getting back. Wait aminute. I paid tax on that when I earned it. It was a refund, not additional income. When can we make it stop. Oh yeah, vote for Ron Paul and be on the right track. Write in you vote if you have to.
It might pay to take out radio/TV advertising to reach the millions needed to March on Washington...the people must be informed that there is hope, peace and love.
