Ron Paul Tent Has Room For Romney The Ron Paul Campaign needs to reach out to the Romney Camp which has been left politically homeless.by Abelardo Arias

The Ron Paul Revolution should forget about Mitt Romney the candidate and focus on Mitt Romney the campaign.
Romney dropped out of the race supposedly to help unite the GOP around McCain. I don't know whether this means that he is fixing his prospects on 2012 when McCain's one term is done or whether he is going to get rewarded with a Cabinet post or become the new Drug Czar. Is it out of the question to offer Romney a VP slot on the Ron Paul ticket? Perhaps. Romney seems to want to be a uniter.
What matters most to the Ron Paul Revolution is that Romney's supporters are looking for a new "conservative" anti-McCain voice. Even more importantly, his delegates are now all in play. Romney has effectively only "suspended" his campaign. His appointed delegates (some of which are Ron Paul people) will go to the convention ready to vote. We have a handful of primaries left, especially Texas.
Paul is polling between 4-6% in Texas. This needs to change. Ron Paul has to get out the "Taxpayer's Best Friend" Express. We need to canvass down there.
Ron Paul needs to attack McCain and do it now. Leave Huckabee alone. He will self-implode with his Crusaders in due time. Paul needs to bring up McCain's involvement in the Keating 5 scandal, his atrocious military record, the recording of communist propaganda for his VietCong captors while his fellow soldiers languished, his attack on free speech, his attack on the right to bear arms, and McCain's proactive efforts to stop the rescue of hundreds of abandoned American POW's and MIA's. This is not a boy scout convention. It is real politics with real consequences and real losses.
Our men and women in uniform cannot afford a loose cannon like McCain as commander in chief of the Armed Forces. Paul needs to use buzz words that appeal to conservatives, such as "national security" and "fight against terror". He needs to reiterate over and over that the best way to support our troops is to bring them home to defend our borders from aggressive nations.
I'm delighted to see Ron Paul is bringing experts on terrorism into his campaign. (Don Luskin don't let the door hit you on the way out).
We need both Romney's delegates and his supporters. His delegates will give us the ultimate victory at the convention. His supporters will give us more votes on the ground on the remaining primaries and caucuses. This will give our cause more legitimacy and political capital than jumping ship right away in the media memory hole of an independent run.
Not to say we shouldn't run independent if the GOP elects an imperialistic, pro-inflation, warhawk liberal like McCain. Let's just remember how nicely the media treated Ralph Nader and Ross Perot (in 1996). Don't hold your breath waiting for a Ron Paul invitation to the Hillary-McCain pro-war debates.
We need to score better in the remaining primaries and get this snowball rolling even faster downhill. Remember, it's the delegates.

No way. Mitt is fake as they come. He's conservitive when it's popular. He was quite liberal back in his days as Gov. He is a war monger. He is for consulting lawyers about starting wars.
Ron would most likely be snuffed out his first week in office if Mitt was vice.
I say Ron should have Goldwater jr, or even his son Rand.
Ron will only take someone who supports his CONSTITUTIONAL posistion. That's why he turned down Kucinich a few months ago, who has a hell of alot more integrity then Mitt the neo-con robot.
NEVER QUIT!! No one anywhere ever really got anywhere by quitting. The only way freedom will get pushed forward and back on track in this country is by not quitting. Ron has for years gone ahead on the same ideals and beliefs and we cannot quit on him.
I like a lot of the sentiment here. However, no matter how bad it might really be, I sure hope they don't attack McCain's military record. This is a landmine that will blow a foot off any campaign that steps on it. In this country he's considered a hero. Attack his military days and it is a losing proposition. Now, the Keating 5 or any number of other issues during his political career, HECK YEAH! Beat him up good on that.
I know in UT there was a 90% vote for Romney and now they need a home. Many sheeple will baaahh to McAmnesty but many will not. This is true of other delegates. Your target is well defined, his delegates and his supporters. Thumbs way up and socially bookmarked too!
Abelardo,
I recently found your website, and have been very impressed by all your work. Please tell me your communicating with the Ron Paul campaign?!?! They need to hear this! Your ideas are lock-on, and surely will increase his numbers.
Thanks, Chuck. Unfortunately, there seems to be a Paul-tocracy running in the Campaign. My commitment is to Dr. Paul himself and to do whatever I can locally and otherwise to help him win. Never say never!
I don't see anything anywhere about Don Luskin not backing Ron Paul except that one blurb at lew rockwell.com that provided no source, no information, just that statement. It said that the day after Don Luskin was saying he would write in Ron Paul if he had to.

We did better in Round One than we expected. Now it's on to rounds Two (delegate coup), Three (independent ticket), Four (control of the House of Representatives) or Five (dissent to anything unconstitutional, along with mutual defense). We only need to win one of the rounds to get rid of the IRS that is funding this despotism, and frankly there is no way to lose Round Five if it comes to that.
The people of the United States simply no longer recognize an unconstitutional federal government. We have seen the result and we will not finance it.
