One of the frequently heard concerns of potential voters is that Ron Paul would not protect America from the threat of terrorism. The reality is that nothing could be further from the truth! Dr. Paul's policies of non-intervention combined with a strong homeland defense posture insure the best possible protection and freedom from fear at home of any presidential candidate.
Nevertheless, the Ron Paul 2008 campaign clearly recognizes the need for comprehensive inteligence, strategic analysis, and effective preparation for all threats and eventualities, and has taken clear steps to assure voters that such concerns will be a high priority of a Paul administration.
The campaign today announced that University of Chicago professor Robert Pape, the foremost expert on suicide terrorism and the founder of the Chicago Project on Suicide Terrorism, has joined the campaign as a foreign policy advisor.
Dr. Pape is also the author of Dying to Win: The Strategic Logic of Suicide Terrorism and has published numerous articles on suicide terrorism and the use of air power in war.
"Ron Paul's campaign is making a lasting contribution to the security of the United States and its allies. Indeed, I often tell audiences ‘Ron Paul has the right foreign policy to safeguard America.’" said Pape.
Two other foreign policy luminaries have also joined the campaign as foreign policy advisors.
Leon Hadar is a global affairs analyst, a former UN correspondent for the Jerusalem Post, and the author of Quagmire: America in the Middle East and Sandstorm: Policy Failure in the Middle East.
Dr. Ivan Eland is senior fellow and director of the Center on Peace & Liberty. He spent 15 years working for Congress on national security issues, including stints as an investigator for the House Foreign Affairs Committee and Principal Defense Analyst at the Congressional Budget Office. He is the author of several books, including The Empire Has No Clothes: U.S. Foreign Policy Exposed.
