42 Delegates For Paul, More On The Way

The Ron Paul National Delegate Count is now 42 or more, and the campaign intends to press on to the Republican National Convention.

 February 6th

Ron Paul has announced his clear intention to stay in this race all the way through the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul.Ron Paul For President!

In a release from Ron Paul 2008 campaign headquarters moments ago, the campaign is projecting some 42 delegates as the combined result of Super Tuesday and prior primaries and caucuses.

"While much of the focus in yesterday's Super Tuesday contests focused on preference poll numbers, Ron Paul caucus-goers were focused on securing delegates to the national convention." said Jesse Benton. "With dedicated supporters and an organization focused purely on securing delegates, the campaign has secured more delegates to the national convention in Minneapolis-St. Paul than caucus straw polls might otherwise suggest."

This is the direct news that Paul supporters have waited to hear, indicating that Dr. Paul will fight on for the cause of liberty in America. It's time for us to redouble our efforts in the remaining primary and caucus states to "get out the vote" for Ron Paul, and in states that have already voted, to continue to spread the word to friends and neighbors that America needs the ideas and programs that only Dr. Paul has had the courage to present.

"Our goal has always been to walk into the national GOP convention with as many delegates as possible," said Ron Paul 2008 campaign manager Lew Moore.  "The number of delegates we won yesterday could very well be the difference in a Convention where no one has a first- ballot majority.  With Dr. Paul's home state of Texas coming up, we feel we can enter the convention with a substantial number of delegates."

The campaign further indicated that legal challenges to the Louisiana caucus  results might well end up placing most of the delegates from that state at Dr. Paul's disposal.Ron Paul Revolutionaries, To The Moon!

Some behind-the-scenes negotiations have increased the delegate count, and astute actions by dedicated supporters of the campaign will continue to bolster the number of delegates to be garnered in upcoming primaries and caucuses.

The campaign's original press release may be read in its entirety here.

Godspeed, Dr. Paul! Thank you for holding a steady course!

Okay, I'm a bit confused.

Ron Paul's site says "3 delegates were won in Alaska, 5 delegates were won in North Dakota, 9 delegates were won in Minnesota, and 4 delegates were won in Colorado"

I understand Minnesota is basically a blasted straw poll, although CNN gives all the delegates to Romney, it may not actually fall that way. I'll give you nine there, just to be charitable. But Ron Paul only got 8% of the vote in Colorado...yet you presume somehow you're going to get 20% of the unpledged delegates?

I'm afraid that, no matter how you cut it, even if he gets 42 delegates, that's about a 2% showing. To be honest, I had expected at least a 5% showing. I'm not saying you have no chance (the incompetance of your competition simply can't be overstated, and you're running against MCCAIN, FFS, how he's winning is beyond me) but that 42 delegates doesn't exactly translate to "winning the nomination".

Furthermore I don't like projections. Not CNN's, not Wikipedia's, and not yours. I'll wait until the actual numbers happen in the National Convention before I write my check out to the site owner.

Logical, you do realize that delegates are people right? And they can vote for whoever they want regardless of the polls in many states.

Yes, I am aware of that. I'm also aware that the delegates are likely to vote for whoever seems to have the best chance of beating the Democrats, and Ron Paul would have his head taken off in such a fight.

In addition, some delegates ARE pledged. Everyone EXCEPT Ron Paul currently has delegates that HAVE to vote for them.

Best we can do is cause a brokered convention; no one is supposing at this point that we're going to win the nomination. We only want to make it as painful as possible for every other candidate to continue-- right now if Huckabee and Romney threw their delegates to McCain he *still* wouldn't have enough to win. So we fight the ground war in every remaining state, especially Texas, and claw for every remaining delegate.

Thank you Mr. Thiessen for providing this invaluable forum, and all of the thinkers who have flocked here. Time for me to drop out of the internet-- I've joined the precinct leader campaign. I hope all of you who reside in states with upcoming primaries/caucuses will become precinct leaders as well. At the very least, find out who your precinct leader is and provide them with assistance for this, the FINAL GROUND ASSAULT.

To Logical Premise, Ron Paul has delegates pledged to him, why would you say he has none?  And that's 42 now, more coming later.  I'm not telling you how to get 20% from 10%, but you can, lol...

Signing up today as a precinct captain.

 Go Ron Paul!!!

I want to say to all the Ron Paul supporters, of which I am one, that I have never been so proud of the amazing accomplishments of this campaign so far. I have experience working on a few state representative and congressional campaigns, and I know the massive obstacles that were overcome to get this candidacy to this point. Of course, you would like to be leading in delegates and be locked in for the nomination, but if you believe that this campaign has failed then you underestimate what you have done.

This campaign started with a candidate that was for all practical purposes unknown to 99.9 percent of the population. The message of the candidate was one that most people have never heard. The message is one that challenges the conventional wisdom accepted by rank-and-file Republicans. The media either did not cover the campaign or would only mention it in passing, and sometimes using pejorative terminology. Yet, so far, this campaign has raised millions of dollars and garnered hundreds of thousands of votes. In addition, many hundreds of thousands have been exposed to the message of the campaign. Best yet, this effort is not over by a long shot. There is so much to be proud of. I am very proud of what we have done, will yet do in this campaign, and will accomplish for years to come. Simply amazing is what this is.

Wheresthecreamfilling: you know the so called "republic" of "Lakota" always needs new people to act like they are the Palestinians and America is Israel. You would enjoy living "free" there. Burn your US Passport at the nearest US Embassy please.

I am 42 years old and have never given to a political nominee. I know that most supporters of Ron Paul are younger. I believe it is because when you get to be older you give up on any real "change"...but, I just went and made my contribution to the Ron Paul website (https://www.ronpaul2008.com/donate/). In hopes of sending a message to the Ron Paul. I am afraid to hope...but if you will continue the struggle. I will continue to support you!

I am almost 42 years old and have never given to a presidential nominee or candidate. I just did. I am supposed to be the age that has given in and given up. Ron Paul gives me hope that there might be a better America ahead. Giving to the Ron Paul campaign -- post Super Tuesday -- is to spread the hope and send the message to Ron Paul that we will continue to support his ideals. The press might continue to supress our hunger for freedom, but we continue to cry "Give me liberty or give me death!"

Ron Paul has a valid number of delegates. I will stay 100% in this campaign until my chosen leader tells me other wise. After being re-educated by being part of this Ron Paul rEVOLution, I have no other choice. I will use my vote as a protest vote, if need be. No other candidate has even came close ro earning my voice/my vote. If Dr. Paul can't endorse them, I can' either. Keep on going Ron Paul, I'm here with you until the last man comes goes over the hill. Sometimes making the right choice is the hardest choice to make.

ron paul's message is not new. He has been teaching americans about the rule of law and the constitution for 20+ years. The constitution is not new. But here is a valid question for all the canidates, If you win the election and still support this undeclared war and corrupt monetary policy and the welfare state how can you take your oath of office knowing that you are violating that oath? How can one swear to uphold and defend the constitution, when your policy's are in direct violation of it? Any memeber of this government who undermines the our constitution is levying war against this nation as it is the Supreme Law of the Land. And Levying war is an act of treason. So if anyone else is elected besides dr. paul they are guilty of treason and should be tried under such charges. What are the professional politicians so afraid of? Why do they fear the constitution? Why is it we have the right to bear arms, yet the government requires a license, turning that right into a privalage, which violates the rule of law. there is no reason the law abiding shouldn not posess the means to defend themselves. remember majority rules dont work in mental institutions. may whatever deity you believe in show you the way to truth. vote ron paul.
