How Long Will We Be Divided? America is clearly divided, where does the division come from and can we change it before it is too late?by Wakeup2change

What will this mean for America? Will it bring her down soon?
I have been called a lot of things for supporting Ron Paul. I cannot believe the hate that these people have for him or the people who support him. It's kind of funny when I think about it. They talk about "paultards" obsessions with him and things said and written about him. What makes it funny is that these people are as obsessed, if not more, with Ron Paul (and his supporters) as we are. They scan the internet and TV looking for any little piece that they can turn into a comment or article to bash with. Now, that is not only obsession that is obsessive hatred.
Don't we have much bigger problems to worry about in America at this moment in time? We should know by now that a house divided cannot stand. This kind of behavior is what infects America and will bring her to her knees. While we are fighting over the small things, the big problems go unnoticed. I do not want to see this happen, especially as a parent. The problems in America that I do not help to repair will only get worse and then my children will pay the price for it.
Personally I believe that the media plays a big role in this division. There are the people who listen to the media and swallow everything they dish out. They tell us what the problems are, well, their versions anyway. Even a small amount of research will tell you that they are not honest in their reporting. Then there are the commercials that tell us how to solve the problems. Telling us thewe need that will help us sleep better, live life better, and make us happy. So the media gives you a problem and then the commercials that they air give you the solutions. But wait, you can't change the channel yet. You can't miss the award winning entertainment coming up next. No need to think about what they just blasted you with, no need to look into it for yourself, you can trust them. They care about you and your family.
They tell us everything. Who is crazy, and who isn't. They tell us the people who are right, the ones who are wrong, and the people who we can and cannot trust. Why do they do this? Because we listen to everything they say. They have become our God. I remember that somewhere in the bible it speaks about a beast that deceives the whole world. Hmmm, could the TV be that very beast?
Think about it, where do we get most of our information outside of our immediate environment? How do we find out about what people in the rest of the world are doing? How do we know what vaccines to get and what outbreaks are coming? Where do we turn to in an emergency? How do we know who we should hate, or love? It all comes from the MEDIA!
I believe that we can overcome this division if and when we start thinking for ourselves and research all the information that is out there.
Is this crazy or could it be the problem and solution? What do you think?
Thanks for reading,
Your Fellow American

"United we stand, divided we fall." This is not just an empty platitude. The powers that are currently running this country have always depended on keeping the people divided over what are ultimately irrelevant issues. What is irrelevant? If you think about what our nation will be like 10 years from now (if one side or another wins out over an issue) and it does not make a substantial change in our quality of life then it is probably irrelevant. Abortion, stem cell research, gay marrriage, flag-burning, prayer in school, Ten Commandments plaques, endangered species, all are hot button issues that evoke strong emotional responses pro and con. I personally have religious and moral values that make these personally important to me. However, we all need to set priorities. Whatever it is, put it on the back burner and concentrate on those issues that we know will affect almost everyone in a profound way. Issues that could strike to the core of our ability to remain a nation of free people with a government that is truly responsive to our needs. Monetary policy, for example, while not very sexy or easy to comprehend is something that will make a huge impact on our economy, jobs, and national stability. Secure and verifiable elections are another. These are issues worth fighting for!
I agree John. Those are the matters that we need to focus on at this time. I would hope that everyone would agree on that. I now know that if we don't take care of the economy that none of the other things we fight over will matter after that crashes. We need a real long term solution, because before to long the stimulus packages and interest rate cuts will catch up to us.
Yes let's all go out and support 1 thing and not the other! What? You don't like my idea? Well why not? BUt my idea is the best!!! What is that you say? No NO NO!!! Humans are supposed to like the same things, believe in the same religion, and all vote the same way!!! People are divided and will always do. The majority is all that matters. What do you want, no competition? That fine Sihr! Why That, Thaht There is Un Uhmericuhn!
I always love to get comments from you. You keep on doing what you are doing. People being free to do what they want is fine. Now, there does come a time, as with our Founding Fathers, when we must find the thing that is bringing us down and come together with a solution. If we do not, then it won't matter, like I said.
