UPDATE: Since Nolan Chart first broke this story both the AP and Fox News have added the figures for Ron Paul's earnings. Why they didn't initially is still not known but now the links will show his numbers. The LA Times had the figures and we are confident AP and Fox also had access.
We wouldn't expect the news to miss the largest fund raising numbers among the Republican Presidential candidates yet that is exactly what has happened. The Associated Press sent the story out over their wires with a key candidate missing. When Fox News picked up the story no one bothered to correct the fact Ron Paul's numbers were not reported by the AP. To be more fair and balanced than Fox News there were others running with the AP story that also failed to add Ron Paul to the list of candidates reported.
Keep in mind this was not the case for all news coverage as the Los Angeles Times did their due diligence and reported Dr. Paul's figures in their story, "News shocker: Ron Paul was biggest GOP fundraiser last quarter." As reported, Congressman Paul's supporters poured in $19.95 million dollars to a campaign that has been all but silenced by the major media in this country. The next closest was the now defunct campaign of former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani. His campaign raised $14.2 million dollars during the same period.
Ron Paul out raised John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee who had contributions of $6.8, $9.2, and $6.6 million respectively. Mitt Romney did report another large personal loan amount twice that of what was raised, $18 million dollars. All other candidates, including Sam Brownback were covered in the AP story.
Although the mainstream media will say there is no attempt to silence the message of Ron Paul it is this type of coverage that causes his supporters and others to question the truth behind their claims. Ron Paul has been consistently running a campaign with a foundation in the needs of this country while pointing to logical plans to address those needs based on the Constitution. He has longed for a direct debate on the key issues. In Wednesday night's CNN debate he tried again, "We should be debating foreign policy, whether we should have interventionism or non-interventionism, whether we should be defending this country or whether we should be the policemen of the world, whether we should be running our empire or not, and how are we going to have guns and butter?"
With a second place finish in Nevada and placing ahead of other media favored candidates in several of the early primaries his supporters continue to donate to his campaign. So far this month he has raised nearly $4.5 million dollars and the revolution's volunteers are building that amount higher today in celebration of Ron and Carol Paul's 51st Wedding Anniversary.
As each of the candidates press forward toward the all important primaries on Super Tuesday, February 5th, his campaign volunteers are canvassing door-to-door in every contested State. It appears no matter how hard the mainstream media attempts to silence the sound of liberty and freedom those passionate about restoring the United States to Constitutional order will not stop. The only thing many have stopped doing is tuning in to Fox Cable News. Today Dr. Paul is at a rally in Denver, CO, at the Colorado Convention Center beginning at 8:30est. I've sent dozens of e-mails to editors today about Ron Paul's Q4 numbers exclusion. The AP article was up just before midnight (on Jan 31). Ron Paul's numbers were already reported prior to that time. I've only found a couple others besides the LA Times who even printed his name at all. Nearly all the articles mentioned all the candidates from both parties (including ones that have dropped out) EXCEPT Ron Paul. The mainstream media is apoparently trying to stifle any positive news that might allow Ron Paul to gain some momentum either in Maine or on super Tuesday. The blatant unfairness is sickening.
The silence is deafining! The unintended consequences of such blatant attempts at censor could shake the world's veiw of the United States of America. There are facts and perceptions of facts and the perception always determines actions and consequences. Who or why should anyone around the world believe the USA MM companies?
One thing that I noticed last night at 12:10am was that Ron Paul and Barack Obama's numbers weren't posted yet on the FEC site. When I woke up this morning they were finally there. I wonder why those two were delayed in getting their numbers posted to the FEC site? I think the AP just took the numbers that were available at midnight.
The reason AP failed to mention it was because the Ron Paul campaign failed to issue an end-of-month news release the way the other candidates did, and Ron Paul was the last major candidate to file his papers, late yesterday. I am aware of newspeople who tried to cover it, but were unable to get official numbers.
Badmedia, that doesn't matter. Until things are formally published, no reputable news site is going to post them. Obama and Paul were left off because they got in late. Period.
Enough histronics. Yes, Fox is pulling stupid stunts with the debates, but you people are starting to see ghosts in the smoke about EVERYTHING.
