Ron Paul, Neocons, Chris Farley, and The GOP Do you even Know what a NeoCon is?by John Armstrong

Ron Paul has supporters from all across the political landscape, here is a partial list of the disparate regions from which they come.
1. People who want to smoke pot.
2. Conspiracy Theorists.
3. Anti-War Activists.
4. Libertarians (who are at least 2 of the 3 above).
These supporters are part of the reason mainstream Republicans don't support Congressman Paul. And the GOP could care less because not having these people as part of the GOP hasn't cost them elections in the past, and the party cares about one thing: Winning Elections.
But there is another group of Ron Paul supporters. And this group is growing as more and more people decide to "Google Ron Paul." Losing this group of supporters may not hurt that much this time around, but eventually the GOP will be destroyed because of our defection.
Who are we? Successful, educated, influential, young WASP's who voted Republican because we believed the Republican Party was the place to be if you were a Conservative. What was the part of Conservatism we found most appealing? Limited government, which meant lower taxes and more personal financial freedom which is the only "entitlement" we care about since our gifts and decisions about how to use our Freedom in order to maximize those gifts allowed us to reach a very fortunate life position.
But the GOP is no longer the party of the Conservatives. It is the party of the Neoconservatives. And "Neoconservative" is a term very similar to the term "Artificial Lemon." The "Neo" and "Artificial" part are accurate, but the "Lemon" and "Conservative" part are simply what was replaced through calculated effort. And the saddest part about it is, unless you were paying close attention, you probably still think this replacement is the real thing. If you don't believe me, just look at the Primary Results. If Republicans actually knew what Conservativism had been replaced by in their party, their reactions would likely be very similar to this:
(I can't embed the video but this video is vitally important to understanding the article).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJhh5RKXjRY
Does that video remind you of anything? Hmm. Media Censorship possibly? A rabid Ron Paul supporter? The way we are being beaten down because we got a little angry when we found out we'd been conned, or rather Neoconned to be exact?
It was only recently that I decided to actually look up "neoconservative." Unfortunately, most Republicans never will. If you know one, please pass along this article or at least the following links:
If the name "Kristol" from that link rings a bell, it's because he's the father of Bill who called Ron Paul a "Crackpot."
If the "committed to leftwing politics" or "liberal member of the U.S. Democratic Party" listed beside the names of the other founders don't give a true conservative pause, I don't know what will. While the GOP faithful has been taught to hate terrorists for the last seven years, we are born hating liberals (sorry if that offends any of my fellow Ron Paul supporters, but it's true). Listed along with these distinguished gentlemen is the Bush advisor who brought the world "Islamofacism Awareness Week", David Horowitz.
http://www.terrorismawareness.org/
You know how much we Republicans hate "smug" liberals? Watch this video and then tell me that Bill Kristol doesn't fit that stereotype to a tee.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rduigENzHo
Now I know you've never known a liberal to lie have you? And they do it so damned well. Why do you think he's so smug? Because he lied to us Conservatives (these neocons didn't like Bush in 2000, but after 9/11 opened the door for their agenda he became their puppet) and stole our Grand Old Party right from underneath our noses. How ironic is it that the Grand OLD Party is now controlled by the NEO (new) "Cons"? Maybe it's just a coincidence, but even that should tell you something, Reagan Conservative.
If you don't have time to read about this yourself, I'll sum up the Neoconservative movement:
America should use our position as the world's lone Superpower to go all over the globe in order to spread democracy regardless of the cost to America in terms of blood, treasure, lost liberty, expansion of government, or desecration of the Constitution. Because this movement is also associated with Machiavelli, who said "the end justifies the means" it is easy to understand why lying to the American people, and eroding our rights are considered fair "means" to their "end." The thought process is that the "end" result will be that everyone is democratic like us, and if everyone is like us, everyone will like us. Not a bad theory, until you consider that that's exactly what the U.S.S.R. attempted and you see where it got them. Granted, they had us to foil their efforts, but China is not far away from joining the super club which is partly why getting all of our world conquering done is so urgent.
If you really care about our Party and our Country please take 10 short minutes to read this speech from long before Ron Paul was running to be President or the War in Iraq went South and Democratic Liberals started criticizing Bush and us Republicans simply to try and win an election:
If you can read this article and really still believe that the GOP is the same party you and I joined, I have a video of an honest liberal I'll be glad to sell you.
You have to understand this: It took over 40 years and the most traumatic event since Pearl Harbor for the Neocons to gain control of our government and media. After all of that patience and effort, they will do anything to remain in power and set our foreign policy agenda. That's why they attack and marginalize liberals and democrats. And it's also why they attack Ron Paul. They don't call a Veteran with an M.D. from Duke a "kook" or "crackpot" because he's a pacifist, liberal or because it's true. They call him those things because he is a true conservative just like you and I and therefore is a threat just like I am and you will be as soon as you realize that the terrorists hijacked more than planes on 9/11; they hijacked the Republican Party. And we didn't even know it because when they knocked out the pilot, the plane kept flying smoothly.
Ron Paul doesn't hate the Republican Party. He loves it. He just realizes that the Republican Party of today is not the one we signed up for. That's why he keeps running despite the odds; he's trying to get the neocon terrorists out of the pilot's seat so that the people who bought their ticket and boarded the plane long ago can still reach their destination: "A shining city upon a hill."
I may not be able to convince you to vote for Ron Paul, but if enough Conservatives wake up to what happened I won't need to. It may not be in 2008. It may not be Ron Paul. It may not be the Presidency for two decades. And it may not be the GOP, simply because we don't have enough time left to wake up enough people. But mark my words, when the "Conservative Party" or "American Party" PAC is born uniting the Libertarians, Constitutionalists, and real conservatives and the money bombs start to pour in to elect Conservative Party or American Party candidates to Congress, the Presidency won't be far behind, and you can bet your sweet ass that the GOP and Democrats will rue the day they started to care more about winning elections than they did about protecting the rights and freedoms of American citizens.
This isn't crazy talk. And it isn't hyperbole. This is coming from a man who would have voted Republican for life, and I'm mad as hell that now I just might have to go through the trouble of starting my own. It took the neocons 40 years to build this castle made of sand, but you can already see the tide on the horizon coming in to knock it down. Even if it takes me until I'm the age Dr. Paul is now, I'll get my country back even if I never get my party back. And I'm not alone. Go back to the beginning if you need to remember who I am. There are plenty like me. And they feel the same way.
Please help me conserve years of my life, fellow Conservatives. Join me in reclaiming the GOP so we can fight the liberals (both the Deomcratic ones and the Neo-con variety together under the Banner of the Elephant instead of allowing them to run our country into the ground for a decade or so until we unite underneath the Banner of the Eagle of the Conservative or American Party (or whatever we decide to name it). Whatever the name is, it will be accurate--unlike Neo-Conservative.
Your fellow American,
John Armstrong

A key reason I comment every time I see a suggestion for Ron Paul to run third-party or Independent is I want him back in Congress leading the Republican Liberty Caucus. I also want the rEVOLutionists to send him some new members so they can start to reclaim our party. You're right, it was taken away and has been for too many years. Sure, we could start a third-party but until the entire corrupt system of elections and organizational structure in legislatures are changed it simply takes too long. We need to recapture the GOP and then the country!
Save your party. Save your country. Save yourselves.
You are correct when you say that both major parties will "rue the day they started to care more about winning elections than they did about protecting the rights and freedoms of American citizens". However, they have been operating this way for so long, saying and doing whatever is required to win, that they will not change until they start losing elections.
What will be most difficult for them will be to become persons of character and integrity after so many years of building their political houses on the sand of political convenience.

Good thoughts. You know, I'm a fairly well-educated person, married, children, never in jail, work hard, pay taxes, etc. I am getting very tired of being called a "kook" or worse by a lot of hate-filled shills selecting their candidates from the talking heads. We are now confronted by the good possibility of having our nation exhausting itself, both in blood and treasure in that mid-East religious madhouse in and about Israel. I'm tired of sending these folks my money. I'm tired of pretending that the Palestinians don't exist, or the Iranians are our newest "enemy", I'm tired of seeing young Americans die to support some vague "freedom" for someone else. Bush has a lot of blood on his hands. Why has our "money" supply fallen is in the hands of those who control the government printing press. Where are the conservatives? Have they all become "neo-conservatives"? What happened to the conservative "think-tanks"? Who are they thinking about?
Face the facts, winning elections is the politician's first job. Being liked and getting reelected is the second. Third, Libertarianism is very difficult and is not popular, so guess what is? CENTRISM!!!!

Your statement about Libertarians makes you look not very intelligent. It sounds like some MSM stereotype. I am a libertarian, and do not meet "2 out 3 of the above." You show how naive and misinformed you are when you believe that "conservatives" have EVER been the ones for "limited government- at least not any time in the last 14 years or so. I don't see how it's even possible to be a "young" conservative and think that,
While I think you did a great job in shedding light on the neocon takeover of the Republican Party, I get the impression you think everything was just fine before that - it wasn't.
Laugh at me if you wish, but I believe we Americans lost our country (and, therefore, political parties) when Wilson was elected. The rich elite's consolidation of power was memorialized with the passage of the Federal Reserve Act as well as the 16th and 17th Amendments... and they have been in full control ever since. Prior to the neocon takeover of the Republican Party, our military was used to play "globo-cop" in Korea and Vietnam, our CIA was overthrowing leaders / governments in countries like Iran, as was the rest of our Middle East foreign policy - strongly influenced by Israel.
In contrast to John "kill em all and let God sort it out" McCain, Ronald Reagan looked pretty good. But did he withdraw our troops from abroad? Did he follow through with his stated goal of eliminating the Department of Education? He may have been better than the status quo politician and he may have had charisma, but as a defender of our Constitutional Republic, he was a failure. Ron Paul stands head and shoulders above him.
I am a firm believer that the whole "left vs. right" argument is an intentional sham. Like a magician who draws your attention to one hand while the other does the trick, the left vs. right debate has been an illusion. To even enter into debate about smaller government vs. social programs is to ignore the real issue: constitutional government vs. unconstitutional government. To ignore the latter is to give credence to the concept of government without any constraint other than the electorate's latest mood swing. There is a reason our founding fathers gave us a Republic instead of a Democracy.
If the Republican Party ever had pure intentions, it would not have participated in this left vs. right sham but would have behaved like Congressman Paul and used the Constitution as their sole argument. To prove my assertion, how many "Ron Paul Republicans" can you name from the past 100 years. You can count them on your fingers and have a few left to spare.
The left / right debate should only exist when issues are up for consideration for amending the Constitution. Otherwise, to debate such for purposes of legislation is to debate the potiential to commit a crime. This is how our country has migrated so far away from its own supreme law.
Well written article, thank you. I consider most of your points valid and worth consideration. One thing I have learned from being part of this movement is to consider ALL points and do some research. We have been being lied to and misled for ages now. I love my re-eductaion. Well written articles like this deserve some credibility, he backs up his points with the very interesting links. I urge you others to at least have a look before bashing the article. We all must learn to not be so thin-skinned and look at the bigger picture. Polarized thinking will only divide us. Sometimes you have to sacrifice to gain, and yes, we have all sacrificed, but it may take a little more. It's our civil duty! Who else is going to do it? Ron Paul is sacrificing EVERYDAY, he's spending his golden years fighting the fight of his life! WE should all be doing the same. Spread the word, get MORE active, get out of the non-productive RP chat sites and get your asses on the street canvassing. Become a precint leader. This OUR fight and we are fignting for ALL OF THE PEOPLE, they just don't know it, YET! Being ignorant of one's ignorance is the malady of the ignorant!
The only way we can lose is to forget that we are winning!
