Support Our Troops !

With all the news centering around the elections these days, we need to remember that we are in a war.

It is easy to be distracted when most of our news is centered around the elections, but we need to remember that we have over 150,000 Americans, thousands of miles from home, laying their lives on the line in support of our governments foreign policy.

We may not always agree (and don't) on just why we are fighting in Iraq, but it is important that as proud Americans of The United States of America we Support Our Troops. We also need to support the families that have sacrificed the lives of their mothers, fathers and children to protect our great nation and The Constitution that our forefathers fought so bravely to protect. From their sacrifices we are awarded freedom. As a free people in a free society that our ancestors inherited to us, we are given the right to have our own personal beliefs and allowed to do as we please as long as we don't harm other people. We have the right to vote for who we think our next leader should be. A leader that we trust in hard times like these to make the decision that we again need to send our families and children into harms way for what we know in our hearts to be a prooven just cause. And we will fight to preserve those rights.

At the same time as many of our great leaders have said in the past, war should be avoided at all cost.

'No arsenal, no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women.'

-- Ronald Reagan

VIEW POINT:

Through openness and diplomacy our great nation can inspire the world to work together...separately, toward less wars, less killing of the worlds families and children. With a renewed attitude of cooperation we can work towards creating many more great nations and hopefully world peace.

A thumbs up for keeping a positive focus on the troops and their families.  Our dear friends are about to experience it has her husband heads to Iraq for a year.  I will say also it is important to remember all the men and women who are serving in far away lands around the world without their families.  Its very tough when you are sent on an unaccompanied short tour of duty or prolonged ship duty.  In a time of conflict we tend to forget these others.

One of the key things that turned me into a Ron Paul supporter was his non-interventionist stance.  As a person who spent 6 years overseas I saw countries that really didn't need us or want us there any longer yet we stay.  A superior military force ready for defense against any agressor combined with a true desire to interact with all willing nations is the best way to teach the world liberty is a nice choice.  Attempting to force it on someone is no more effective than sitting on a child and trying to force them to eat a candy bar.  They may love candy bars but they will resist it if its fed to them wrong.  Thanks for the reminder.
