Has Ron Paul Destroyed the Republican Party? Has John McCain become the frontrunner because of a knee-jerk reaction to Ron Paul’s Classic Conservatism?by David Powers

Let’s face it; at the end of Bush’s term the Neo-Cons will have run the country for 8 years. As I look at my country I consider that to be a horrible thing. The republicans have become the party of massive deficit spending, civil liberties destruction, the corporate interest’s best friend and MOST IMPORTANTLY war-mongering and policing of the world. The Neo-Con policy of war is what I want to look at with respect to Dr. Paul’s campaign.
I guess this all started 8 months ago at the Faux News S.C. debate. Dr. Ron spoke the truth that 9/11 was a result of blowback from the US government’s foreign policy in muslim lands. Rudy Giuliani couldn’t believe what he heard. You would think that Giuliani was living in a cave. I think we can all agree though, that when any politician says that we were attacked because we are free and prosperous they are lying and they know it.
Immediately after 9/11 I was a talk-radio junkie (you can guess which ones) and they all said in unison that this was an un-provoked attack and that it is because of our freedom, or they blamed it on jihad. We both know these explanations are patently false and if a group of 2,000 set out to make war against the USA, they would be ground into powder very quickly. 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi and this was in response to American troops being on what they perceive as holy muslim ground.
Let’s talk about the talk radio issue. I believed it. I believed it for a long while. Everybody I know that believes that we were attacked for our freedom is a fan of one of these talking heads or has been turned in that direction by a talk-radio robot. If I know this then you can bet your bottom dollar that the candidate’s advisors know this. That has to be their position to get serious consideration for the nomination.
John McCain is the master at this. After all he is THE candidate on foreign policy. All the Neo-Conbots hear his rhetoric and they can’t wait to vote for him. "We will stay in Iraq for 100 years if that’s what it takes! If you have seen the size of the embassy we are building in Iraq you will not consider this to be an exaggeration.
OK, so they are voting for John McCain, so what’s the problem? I think you all know. The problem is that he goes beyond being a Neo-Con and is very plainly a liberal war-hawk. Look at his stand on immigration, taxes, government spending, civil liberties, global warming and most of all free speech (campaign finance reform). This guy is one sandwich short of Hillary Clinton.
It has been said he will destroy the republican party. I agree with that 100%. It is already starting to happen. Some of those talk-radio nuts have pushed so many people into becoming one-issue voters ("national defense") that they have lost their core set of beliefs. These beliefs are of course; fiscal responsibility, free speech, enforced immigration, civil liberties and national sovereignty. These no longer mean anything to the republican voter.
Do I want it to destroy the party? That depends. If we can take it back to the way it was when they obeyed the Constitution and didn’t fight wars for special interests; yes. If not I hope they are obliterated and we start anew with something old: the Constitution.
Just think; all it took was a 72 year old, conservative doctor from Texas to speak out against an interventionist foreign policy and we may be looking at the destruction of the Grand Ol’ Party.

No David. The Republican Party destroyed herself by leaving the principles she advertized. Check out the following link:

Well, not everyone. The day 9/11 happened some of my employees ran up to me as I was coming in to work to tell me the news. My first words were that our foreign interventionism had come home to roost!
All that bluster about they hate our freedoms is a crock. The Muslims have been trying to take over the world for nearly 1400 years and they won't succeed by terror. The only progress they can make is by convincing people to adopt their idolatrous religion. Islam and 9/11 is just the cow bell for the warmongers to garner votes. Unfortunately, it works.
I am the President of a company in the Military Industrial Complex and have prided myself with my work since 1957 for the common defense. But the Truman/Harriman doctrine of containment that led us into Korea and Vietnam and the Bush doctrine of pre-emptive war that led us into Iraq does not fit my understanding of defense!
I don't think there is a particle of difference between the Republican candidates and the Democrat candidates except for the Honorable Dr. Ron Paul.
Without Dr. Paul in charge our FRNs will be about as worthless as rocks. Maybe more so.
Ron Paul isn't destroying the Republican Party. He's the only true Republican voice out there. It seems like the Republican Party is letting itself be destroyed by allowing liberals to masquerade as conservatives. It's wrong to assert that Ron Paul is "destroying" the Good Ol' Party, or that he is a "spoiler", just because he is the lone voice of reason!
If he isn't, I think that he should do anything in his power to destroy this GOP.
The Republican party says it's for lower taxes. It isn't. It passed the largest federal budget in history, and even after it controlled the White House and both houses of Congress, it failed to make a dent in the federal tax burden.
The Republican party says it's for limited government. It isn't. Not only has it failed to reduce the already ridiculous size and power of government, it has drastically increased it.
The Republic party says it's for individual liberties. It isn't. It created the biggest federal bureaucracy in history, and gave it all sorts of new powers to spy on, detain, silence, and otherwise harass Americans.
The Republican party says it believes in the Constitution. It doesn't. It has done absolutely nothing to try to correct the mangling of the "commerce clause" to allow the federal government to stick its nose in everyone's business.
And when someone came along who really IS for lower taxes, limited government, individual liberty, and a return to the Constitution, how did the Republican establishment respond? By smearing, demonizing, demeaning, marginalizing, and insulting him, and trying to silence him. Even though that man is a Republican.
My question is, just how stupid are Republican voters? Just how badly and how often do you need to be betrayed by the totalitarians in the GOP (masquerading as "limited government" advocates) before you stop SUPPORTING their collectivist crap?
"But the Democrats are even worse!"
No, they aren't. They are IDENTICAL. The only difference is in their rhetoric: the Republicans pander to those who want limited government, and the Democrats pander to those who want the nanny state to control and take care of everything. But in action, the two are THE SAME. They are two faces of ONE group of power-happy, war-mongering, fear-mongering, liberty-destroying nationalist/socialists. The suggestion that THOSE are your only choices is a classic tyrant trick. Unfortunately, almost all Americans still fall for it.
Personally, I don't believe in "limited government" any more than I believe in "limited murder," "limited rape," or "limited armed robbery." But for those "limited statists" out there who still believe in the Constitution, stop supporting its demise! If you must vote, and Ron Paul loses the Republican primary--which the Republican establishment is going to great lengths to ensure--vote for him anyway. I don't care whether he runs or not. Write in his name. If instead you hold your nose and vote for the establishment- appointed collectivist, YOU are the problem.
Yes, I am telling you to intentionally destroy the Republican party, because it is an absolute fraud. Of course, the Democratic power machine is equally fraudulent and evil, but by supporting either of them--instead of telling them BOTH to go to hell--you are ENABLING your own enslavement. Quit bickering over which crook is worse, and just STOP SUPPORTING CROOKS. "But then the OTHER guy will win!" So what? I would wager that NO ONE could tell, based only on the legislation passed during the Clinton administration as compared to that passed during the Bush administration, who was on the "left" and who was on the "right." The result is always the same: more power for them, less freedom for you. By supporting EITHER party, you prolong the lie, and assist in your own subjugation.
There is only one person running for President who actually believes in the Constitution, and look how hard his "own" party is trying to silence him. And look who they have running AGAINST him: several left-leaning, tax-and-spend socialists (Huckabee, Romney, McCain and Giuliani). Every one of them is far left of JFK! Is that really what "conseravtives" want? Who exactly is the Republican party "representing"?
Anyone with their eyes open can see that the Republican establishment doesn't CARE what Republican VOTERS want. They are still trying to milk the reputation of Ronald Reagan, while viciously slandering anyone who sounds anything like him. They are just as elitist as the Democrats, having nothing but contempt for your freedom and what YOU want. When thousands of you said "We want Ron Paul!" what did the Republican establishment say? "To hell with you!" Well, it's high time to return the compliment. Maybe the best thing to come out of a Ron Paul presidential run will be a long overdue unmasking and discrediting of the totalitarian elitists club calling itself the Republican party.
Crap don't start the fire yet I need to go get the digi and some marsh mellows so I can post the pictures of it burning on myspace...lol. Also I said it once I say it again. If and on when Romney gets tired of spending his money and Huckabee wakes up and realizes that his biggest campaign contributions can from the MSM which can directly donate to his campaign to pay for staffers, Paul will be in a two person battle for the nomination...
WHAT IS NEEDED IS SO FORE THOUGHT INSTEAD OF POST PLANNING!!!!!!!!
We all know their (MSM'S) next move is to cancel the debates. They'll crown him the nominee and try to sweep Paul under the rug...The best thing he can do then is call McCain out...CALL HIM CHICKEN...CALL HIM GAY...CALL HIM A DRAFT DODGER...CALL HIM WHATEVER YOU WANT....
Make the statement..."If he runs from a "Long Shot" like me, how can he possibly defeat Clinton and Obama" Call in that Favor to Glenn Beck to give him another hour on his show...Paul is going to have to get his hands dirty. But don't worry Paul we'll still respect you when you're president. TAKE THE GLOVES OFF AFTER ROMNEY AND HUCKABEE DROP OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's your only shot...(below is a definition of rope a dope)
Rope-a-dope is a boxing fighting style used most famously by Muhammad Ali (who coined the term) in the Rumble in the Jungle against George Foreman. The idea is for the boxer to lie on the ropes of a boxing ring, conserve energy and allow the opponent to strike him repeatedly in hopes of making him tire and open up weaknesses to exploit for an eventual counter-attack.
The key is the counter-attack..when Huckabee and Romney leaves McCains guard will be down so watch him try to leave the ring early with his hands held him to hopefully grab the belt and go back to the locker room. WE CAN'T LET HIM LEAVE THE RING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (if we actually want Paul to be in a two man debate where there's no way he couldn't get equal time)
The Bolsheviks that emerged under the Reagan admin destroyed the party. This will be the last year I'll be a member of the GOP -- as a Ron Paul write in.
No, but i do think he did a lot of damage. Perhaps a lot of the young voters he attracted during his campaign might swing over to the libertarian party come november.
