Jan. 24 Republican Debate Report: Did Mike Huckabee Lie Through His Teeth?

Many people may have noticed that Mike Huckabee made the statement in the January 24th Florida Republican debate that only he has warned the people that the economy was going bad. Specifically he said that he was the only one at the Michigan debate a few months ago that warned of an impending economic crisis.

The question is...did Mike Huckabee lie or is his memory failing him? Everyone, who follows the Republican race closely, knows that one candidate has been warning of economic problems from the beginning of the race. In fact, this sole canididate, Congressman Ron Paul of Texas has been warning and educating the American people for years about the state of the economy and the reasons the economy is heading south.

So...did Mike Huckabee forget this? It is this authors opinion that Mike Huckabee is an intelligent man and did not forget debate after debate of Ron Paul giving warnings about the economy. However, this author will not go any further and make a full written judgement on Mike Huckabee and his January 24th, 2008 economic statement.

Instead...this will be left to you the reader to make your own decision.

Here is a video montage of Huckabee and Paul...you decide:

Yep I caught that too, also notice Romney said he has raised more individual money than anyone else, but would not disclose the amount, when we all know Dr. Paul outraised him at least in the last 1/4. Also note post debate coverage never talked to anyone from the Paul camp as they did all the others. Also note that the commentator said no one on the stage is anti-war. False false false. All lies question breakdown Romney 14 Mccain 14 Gooliani 11 Aw Shucksabee 8 Dr. Paul 6 and 3 were 30 second rebutals, one of which was cut short by 5 seconds. Notice the St. Petersburg Times poll mentioned on the teletype. Romney 25%, McCain 23%, Huckabee 15%, Gooliani 15% they did not even mention the remaining 22% and there is only one other candidate, so whats up? Did anyone else notice that Giuliani lied also?

In one of the earlier debates (may 15th .. was it SC?), Giuliani famously attacked Ron Paul for daring to suggest that our foreign policy was a factor in why we were attacked on 9-11. Giuliani acted outraged and said "I don't believe I ever heard that before and I would ask the congressman to retract that, and tell us he didn't really mean it."

But in last night's debate, Giuliani said the reason he returned the check from the Saudi prince was that the prince made a statement to the press an hour later, saying that America was being attacked because of it's foreign policies.

So Rudy was lying (or has a convenient memory) back in May when he said he never heard such a theory before. Can anyone do a video of these side-by-side quotes?

Huckabee stole Ron Paul's China line, too, last night.  Looks like he's angling for a run at Dr. Paul's VP. LOL. The quote from a recent fundraising letter is certainly appropriate.

"For those of you who haven't heard, Mike Huckabee's campaign is broke. Don't let the same thing happen to Ron Paul. After all, where else would Mike Huckabee get all of his ideas?"

i lost count of how many times huckabee claimed ownership over statements that ron paul has repeatedly made (and criticized for or laughed at, by the way) regarding borrowing from china, the economy and foreign policy.

even though i never supported huckabee, i never thought he was a typical politician (i.e., liar). last night he pushed me over the edge. what a joke. but of course, the media won't expose him for taking credit for ron paul's ideas.

and it continues to amaze me that mccain, rudy & mitt can get away with not answering questions honestly, yet nobody seems to care because the media thinks they're "more electable." then again, i guess i'm naive.

Wow. You guys are all on target. I watched the debate last night, saw all the camera angles and questions pointed at the 3 guys on the "left." I saw how other candidades stole the "borrow money from China" line that Ron Paul coined. It's sad. I hate big, ugly, watered down answers. Ron Paul says it straight. I hope people wake up. I loved it how Paul was the only one to stand up and say "No, the war wasn't worth the money and bloodshed." He was the only one out of the others, and ROn Paul got the clapping ovation for it.

See, back when they said Ron Paul would influence the debate, that is what they really meant.   By influnce, they mean that the other candidates will steal what he says.    It's what those who just care about getting elected, and will say anything to get it do.

Of course, you'd have to be pretty dumb to believe them.

All of these Christians that are spouting about the wounderous Pastor Huckabee could reeally impress all of us by acting like Christians. They have a chance to validate themselves and their religious dogma by standing for the truth and doing what's right. Or will they be the typical gullible sheep following their beloved TV evangelist/candidate no matter the evidence and end up looking like fools, again? Guys like Huckabee do more damage to the good message of the bible than any other Christian leaders. This is the kind of two-faced hypocrisy that swayed me away from the faith of my childhood. Even my own parents are fed up with their church's blind faith endorsement of Huckabee. My father has stopped attending his church altogether, even after being a regular attending member for over 23 years. My Mom is torn, but she's had about enough of it now herself. Huckabee is doing to Christianity what George Bush has done to the Republican party.
