Operation Target McCain John McCain has resurfaced as the most likely GOP frontrunner and the elite's nod for the nomination. It's time to target the Straight Talk Express.by Abelardo Arias

Let's forget Rudy Giuliani. He's broke and on track to a long, slow campaign death. Ron Paul's one and only campaign target should be Senator John McCain.
Last night's debate was a total waste except for a couple of Huckabee one-liners and Ron Paul's passionate defense of peace and sound money policy.
I was very excited when Ron Paul chose to ask Senator McCain a direct question in the debate. Although I would have preferred a more controversial or confrontational question than one of shedding sunlight into presidential advisors, I think Dr. Paul had it right to target the so-called "Straight Talk Express".
The only smart thing that Rudy Giuliani could pull off was to blatantly not ask Ron Paul a direct question which would have only given more air time to the "long shot" candidate who keeps beating Mr. 9/11. Instead, Giuliani addressed Mitt Romney on his own lame national catastrophe scheme he's tried to serve up to upset Floridians. Romney single-handedly tore apart Giuliani's lame duck question like cotton candy in the hands of a hungry child. Romney actually looked presidential. The Giuliani implosion continues.
That being said, I would love to see someone coach Ron Paul on confidently using phrases like "When I'm President" and "As your next President"?! This may sound petty but sheep people actually want a President who will pretend act like a leader should.
In a future column I'm going to argue that Ron Paul should target Barack Obama as his number #1 Democratic target, especially as Hillary gets closer and closer to winning her party's nomination.
Suffice it to say, that for the time being John McCain has the best chance of securing the GOP nomination, followed by Mitt Romney and Ron Paul. Giuliani and Huckabee will be lucky to make it into March. Conservatives, pro-lifers, evangelicals and anti-war Republicans are all going to search for a candidate to back when these last three are left.
Although in theory Ron Paul offers their best option as a true conservative and Constitutionalist, Republicans will likely fall into McCain's lap out of ignorance and sheer desperation for a candidate who has the media's respect and admiration.
We must not allow that to happen.
How likely is it that McCain will get the anti-war vote in the GOP fold? Just look at what happened in New Hampshire. The majority of the independent, anti-war vote went to McCain. These people were misinformed about his intentions for neo-liberal perpetual war. They actually assumed that the man tortured by the VietCong would be less likely to put our precious troops in harm's way. The Granite Staters (no longer "Live Free or Die" in my opinion) made a terrible misinformed choice.
The Ron Paul Revolution must expose McCain for who he is:
A pro-war neo-liberal who has a record of attacking citizens' rights to bear arms, pushing the Patriot Act, censoring free speech with unconstitutional campaign finance laws, suing a pro-life group for political activity, fawning over horrendous Federal Reserve rate cuts, defending Bush's actions at home and abroad, blaming Clinton instead of Bush for the largest increase in federal deficit-spending since the New Deal, sentencing Americans to perpetual IRS abuse by refusing to consider other tax alternatives, appointing judges who have no respect for a plain reading interpretation of the Constitution, using hysterical statements about Muslims and for being a compulsive militant who is happy to maintain occupations in Korea, Germany and Iraq into the 22nd century!
What do you think will happen when John McCain wins the GOP nomination?
The media's honeymoon with this loose cannon will suddenly end. You can just feel the coming storm from the Clinton machine and the happy army of big-government pundits and newscasters behind it. Clinton will chew up McCain and spit him out on what's left of his campaign trail. It will not be pretty - or even funny for that matter.
Clinton will masterfully tie McCain to every failed George W. Bush nightmare you can think of: the Iraq War, No Child Left Behind, corruption in the Republican-controlled Congress, runaway inflation, runaway spending, runaway deficits, military spread too thin, cooking up evidence against Iraq to justify the invasion, a shattered economy.
Clinton will use Ron Paul's arguments against McCain even though she is just as much of a pro-war neo-liberal as McCain. It's just that the Arizona straight-shooter won't stand a chance against her. Oh yes - she would be our first female presiden. So kiss the women's vote goodbye, Senator. Your charming looks and your Rambo endorsement won't help you much there.
Now imagine for one moment Ron Paul debating Hillary. Imagine Democrats and independents would stare in shock at the television screens as he takes her out to the woodshed on every issue that civil libertarians and peace advocates hold dear.
Is this dream possible? Yes it is. You may say that I'm a dreamer. Well, friend, I'm not the only one.
With only a week until Super Tuesday, let's focus on John McCain as the front-runner and let the other underdogs finish each other off.
Check out John McCain v. Ron Paul. Start your own blog or website dedicated to taking down straight-and-narrow's lead. Run internet ads or local paper ads for primary voters to see who the real McCain is and why Ron Paul is the best choice for all Americans.

Man! After reading so many of the postings here, I just had to write and tell you how much I love the Nolan Chart website! You guys are great! I live in a remote wilderness area and do not have access to the Main Stream Media (at least the "television" part other than their websites, which I tend to ignore, or their segments on YouTube, etc. which are laughable). I so appreciate your insight and comments, but really hope that Ron Paul and his campaign are listening to the powerful advice offered in this forum. Ron Paul and his message have become the catalyst to project me out of political apathy, and given me fresh hope that there is still time to change the course in America! I had just about given up and resigned myself to hunkering down and surviving the darkest hours yet to come in our nation. Now, I believe there are voices enough, calling for a return to the truth of our Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, to keep the momentum going.
After researching Ron Paul's position on each issue, his voting record and consistent integrity, I am convinced he could intellectually and logically drill any of the establishment's candidates into the ground, provided he only be given a proper opportunity. These televised debates are only suitable for the "sound-bite" saturated mind. Could Ron Paul invite McCain to debate man-to-man on the issues, just the two of them? the event not sponsored by any big media outlet? (And do the same with the other so-called "top tier" candidates as well?) Ron Paul shines when he gets more than 30 seconds to expound his points. I would dearly love to see him debate Hillary Clinton, as you so beautifully suggested above!!!!
In closing, again, I thank you for your terrific forum, knowledgeable writers and informative suggestions to Ron Paul and his campaign. I only hope they are listening...
amen! Somebody needed to bring this up, McCain is a racist, Warmonger, who needs to be locked up. If it was up to me I would have him sent back to Vietnam and let them finish him off. How could he even have gotten this far in the race? He openly harrassed arabs in the middle east in the SC debate saying something along the lines of (all arabs being al queda, and tradeing burkas and one way plane tickets) then chuckles and smerks at real questions. GROW UP MCCAIN and just because you made it back from vietnam alive doesnt mean you can condem my friends, family, and future children and grandchildren to Iraq for the next 100 years! I hope you have a heart attack, anyway thats my rant' WOOH it felt good to get that off my chest...
It's important for all of us who support a sound monetary system to also know what the "Working Group on Financial Markets' is. Who's in it and why did it come into existence.
McCain obviously didn't and Pauls question exposed McCains lack of expertise in this most important area.
A great analysis. It makes one think a bit outside the box regarding the whole election and goals of those in control. The media manipulation at any one moment may well be part of a entire planned chain of events to end up as described. Other goals are are possible, but this one makes loads of sense. I was starting to feel like a sheep again... back to the pasture. Ron Paul for 2008!
There is enough sensationalism attached to Ron Paul's name that quite a few Floridians probably got curious about the President's working group on financial markets. I think it was fairly obvious that Ron Paul was catching McCain in his dismal grasp of the economy and having a small laugh at the Arizona senator's expense. The look on John McCain's face was priceless! I really believe that had something to do with McCain coming in third or second today. His immigration record might be a factor, too. There are so many obvious reasons not to elect this Washington veteran, and you put them all so well.

McCain does enough damage to himself every time he opens his mouth. He is so arrogant and full of himself, and his intelligent level is extremely low. I wish the powers that be would stop coddling him, and stop saying that the American people as well as the Republican party would even consider him for the White House. He is criminal (Keating Five), he wants to continue this unnecessary war, and cause further problems with neighboring nations in the same region, and McCain thinks the mess we have in Iraq is worth the blood of our soldiers and innocent lives of Iraqi citizens. This man also believes illegals should be given Amnesty depending on the circumstance, no thank you. John McCain made it a point to keep the U.S. from finding out if there were any other POWs left behind, why? What is he afraid of? Okay enough is enough, McCain does not know anything about the economy, and the Florida debate proved it with just one question from our good Dr. Ron Paul. Thank you Dr. Paul, you have my vote and support.
