Ron Paul Causes Democrats to Circle Their Wagons Edwards promises to support the Democratic Nominee, urges Obama and Clinton to do the sameby R.K. Chase

John Edward's promise to support the Democratic nominee, regardless of who wins the primary, follows a growing trend within the Democratic Party and has been grabbing the media's attention. But why are the candidates willing to downplay their individuality in order to support their party? Given the Republican record over the tenure of George Bush and the ethical scandals that plagued the GOP (from Ted Haggard to Jack Abramoff), it would seem that the Democratic Party holds both the policy and moral high-ground. Furthermore, the Republican candidates are relatively weak and seemingly beatable to any Democratic candidate, regardless if the primary losers offer their support.
Only John McCain, Mitt Romney and Ron Paul have a feasible chance of winning the nomination, but Ron Paul is the sole candidate with a chance to beat the Democrats in the general election. He has to be a major motivator of the current wagon circling going on inside the Democratic Party because McCain and Romney do not match up well with any Democratic candidate. McCain's persistence in "staying the course" and his trigger-happy mentality will not appeal to moderate voters who are tired of our endless and deadly involvement in the Middle East. He runs on supporting the troops, but Ron Paul is the candidate who receives more donations and endorsement from service men and women.
Romney has three major strikes against him. Firstly his Mormon faith will definitely cost him votes from the large Evangelical base within the Republican Party. Secondly, his wealth and self-financing creates mistrust. Edwards also faces this dilemma, but he has worked hard create a Robin Hood image, which is something Romney definitely lacks. He has big business written all over him. Finally, coming from a relatively liberal political arena like Massachusetts, there will be a lot of attention given to his "flip-flopping." This will cut even more deeply into the GOP's socially conservative base.
Ron Paul's consistent anti-war message is perhaps the biggest threat to the Democratic candidates. He voted against the war and the Patriot Act, a startling contrast to Clinton. Furthermore, his attention has always been on the economy and fiscal responsibility, a message that is gaining momentum now that the financial markets are looking so volatile and recessing. The Democrat's penchant for high government spending and taxation will not bode well against Paul's small government crusade, and his ethical consistency will keep the Republican base, who like his pro-life position.

If the dems played the game better then the gop, then we wouldn't have had a repubican dominated government for the last 20 years.
conservative think tanks are always underestimated. just because the conservative media pundits are hacks, doesn't mean the people pulling the strings don't control the agenda.
I can't stand the crap that comes from this website that pops up for google news searches for Ron Paul.
"Ron Paul is the sole candidate with a chance to beat the Democrats in the general election." is a ridiclous statement.
Also, I find it funny that Paul supporters will quote polls that are skewed in his favor via cellphone or online voting, but will admonish others that don't look good for the man.
8-13% of the vote is all he is getting. Cold hard facts are something the Paul crowd can't seem to grasp very well.
One thing for certain --- the economy is tanking - if we are not already in a recession then we will be shortly. Everything is tanking --- look at the price of gold today as the dollar is still falling. The more all of this goes down the better Dr. Paul.s stimulus package for the nation's ailing economy looks. The more people who understand it will vote for Dr. Paul. Sending everyone a welfare check for $1,200 is not going to stop the recession. We need a Doctor and that man is Dr. Ron Paul.
The democrats better circle more than the wagons....
It is still early. Don't count your neo lib/con chickens yet. I just marvel at people such as you who argue FOR your own enslavement. It's OK to come off of the government plantation Bob. Liberty is good, peace is sweet and prosperity is ours for the taking.
WAKE UP BOB, OR MAY THE JACKBOOTS REST LIGHTLY ON YOUR DESERVING NECK !!!
David Rockefeller admits what the CFR is doing and is proud of it. A one world order = slavery for us all.
The CFR is feeling mighty strong looks like. The reason is most of the presidential hopefuls are CFR members. In other words the USA is being talen down and the Constitution stripped from within.
Funny thing is I know the Dems are just praying that McCain is nominated by the Repubs, which he will not be because he is not supported by the true conservatives and true Republicans. The Dems know if McCain were to get the Republican nomination they will win, and we will have Hillary or Obama in the White come January 2009. I wouldn't doubt it if Hillary or Obama supporters are posing to be McCain supporters so the media will think he is popular or that the repubs want him. I am very conservative, and a registered Republican, and Ron Paul is the only one out of all the candidates that can turn things around in our country, and actually make the necessary CHANGES. Ron Paul is the only CHANGE candidate. Ron Paul for the Win!!!!!
Let's vote for Ron Paul and clean up the White House.

Riiiighht....It's always the Ron Paul crowd who are "skewing" the polls...but yet whenever (insert favorite candidate here) wins a poll,, it's never questioned.
I think Americans know all to well the foul-play that goes on in the actual primaries and elections...so please, take a walk with the holier than thou attitude.
Just because you heard something on fox doesngt mean it's true.
What is the arguement to keep the troops in Iraq? Bill O'Reilly says its so Iran doesn't make nuclear weapons. How is our presence in Iraq helping us stop Iran from enriching Uraniam or whatever Bush wants to say they are doing this week?
Troops in Iraq have a short trip to Tehran. For some reason little homo denier Ahmadinijiahd has stopped. This we are told was all done by diplomacy and diplomacy alone...
Romney's Mormon religion is fine by me. I had this one girlfriend who was LDS. She liked to act out. I consider myself very fortunate when she had that fall from grace.
As long as someone swears to uphold the constitution, they can dance naked and worship trees in their off hours. I'm more interested in results, than what kind of Tiki god you have on your mantle.
It seems to me that Ron Paul is the only chance the republicans have against any democratic nominee. I don't have a problem with Romney being Mormon except that it shows me that he has a lack of good judgement. If you ever pick up the book of Mormon, its not at all like what you'd expect and not at all like any other Judeo-Christian religion. Seems almost like a cult.....
Dr. Paul has been asked many time if he would support any of the other Republican candidates.
I would like to see the other candidates answer that same question. It is a VERY important question. If Dr. Paul wins the nomination will you support him?
Can you see the ramifications? If they can't, then they don't/won't support me, because my views are almost exactly Ron Paul's views.
How could they be president if they won't even support we republicans who disagree with them.
You think it's ridiculous to say that Ron Paul is the sole candidate with a chance to beat the Dems? You said yourself he has 8-13% of the vote- a huge portion of which will NOT vote for any other Republican in the election. You think any Rep. can win without that base? Now THAT'S ridiculous.
Paul is indeed the only Republican candidate that can beat any Democratic candidate for the following reasons (and more):
According to polls - cited as MSNBC debate - the Democrats have a 18 % advantage over the Republicans (ex Paul). The debate will be about the war and the economy and Democrats will clearly witn both strongly. On the othr side, if Paul has the republican nomination, he can beat the Democratic candidate on both the war and the economy: he has voted consistently against the war and the Patriot Act (attack on civil liberties), while Obama has initially voted aginst he war, but later in Senate voted with Hillary Clinton for the war and for the Patriot Act.
Of all the Republicans Paul has a strong and enthusiastic grassroots support and bring in new voters (Independents, young voters like students and even some Democrats), that you need to win the nomination. (last two elections have been virtually 50- 50).
Pauls has outraised all the Republican candidates, while the Democrats have raised much more than the Republicans.
With the economy, observers usually regard the republicans as the better party on this area. Paul is THE candidate for small and effective governmant and a coherent economic strategy, and can back it up with a consistent voting record.
The other Republicans are like Democratic light (each in his own way): big government, social programs like New Deal etc. Why vote Democratic light if you like the policy and can vote Democratic strong?
McCain could get some Independents, but since his strong pro-war stance, many Democrats will never vote for him anymore.
Romney would not be able to get a certain republican base and would - with his current stance - to be able to attact Independents.
Paul has something for everyone, a strong Republican stance with openness and he acted very presidential during the debates, not attacking any person, playing the ball, not the man (or woman). This will be very appealing to voters that are not so strong for either party, e.g. disillusioned with politicians.
And I think it also has to be kept in mind that many "official" polls have not even listed Ron Paul among the choices. I was surprised at how poorly Paul was doing according to RealClearPolitics. They cite various polls here in NJ (Fairleigh Dickinson, Rutgers, etc). Check the polls linked from the website as I did. Paul isn't listed as a choice in most of them. Gee, what a surprise, he does "poorly". It's simply an extension of the general news blackout on Congressman Paul.
He's a threat to the status quo, as was Kucinich. The other candidates are not. So we have to bypass the national press for the most part and keep the conversation going.
The folks who revel in insults/lies for the only candidate who might actually prevent/forestall the coming collapse which will hurt them and their families too, are to be pitied for their cluelessness. You can't wake that type up.
While all this may be true, the end goal is someone in the White House who can continue the NWO's plan while keeping the sheep in their pens. This may mean the Bloomberg must enter the race to pull votes away from the good Dr Paul. This is just getting interesting! In order to compete with Bloomberg, Ron Paul is going to need a serious shot in the financial arm, say $150M or 250,000 stimulus shots times $600ea! Thank you Mr Bush for providing a way to fund clean up your mess.

Republicans historically support limited government at home, but uphold a policy of intervention abroad.
Democrats historically support non-intervention abroad, but insist on controlling people's lives here at home.
Ron Paul stands for non-intervention at home and abroad!
It's called FREEDOM, and it's becoming very popular the world over. It's the brilliance of our Founding Fathers. It's the battle cry of each and every American who holds the hope of a better tomorrow.
