Money Bomb, Schmoney Bomb: The Real Reason Ron Paul Can't Lose

The greater the Sacrifice, the more glorious the Victory.

If you skip over everything I write and just read Peter's comment about my previous MLK Money Bomb article, the title of this one will be self explanatory.

I stopped by the local Ron Paul HQ in Nashville yesterday before leaving for what should have been a short six hour drive so I could finally get a bumper sticker and ask what I could do to help the campaign while I was on the road.  The message was simple: donate and keep spreading the word.

I donated, and although I am going to get to sleep for three hours tonight because I decided to pull off the road and write so that I could honor the second part of the request to spread the word; I don't regret it for a second. Judging from the number of readers and comments, that article seems to have touched a nerve. One reader's comment in particular touched me,  and that comment explains more beautifully than anything I have seen written exactly why Ron Paul can't lose even if he doesn't win. I am posting it below in its entirety with my comments to follow.

John Armstrong,

You are a true American. I'm going to copy this statement of encouragement of yours and hand it out to every RP supporter I know. You inspired me a lot. And I confess, I was getting a little discouraged.

I had just enough money left in my account to pay my car (truck) insurance before cancelling tonight at midnight. ($114.00). But instead, I sent $100.00 to the Ron Paul money bomb. Now I'm uninsured. LOL! No problem.

I'll have some more money in a couple of days. I'll reinstate my auto insurance and send more money to Ron Paul.

I actually met Ron Paul today at a rally here in Baton Rouge. We shook hands. When you meet him, you know him. Inside and out. He's for real.

And as for my truck? Well, I'll just tape a Ron Paul sign to my dusty old bicycle and get some fresh air for the next few days.

I have to do everything I can for Congressman Paul. Because when you meet him in person, you just know, without a doubt, that he would do the same for you.

I was going to comment here about different ways to get involved other than giving money that were based on readers' comments about the previous article like becoming a precinct leader, writing to meetup group members who supported Fred and Hunter, joining your local meetup group, etc. But I can't bring myself to do it.

As I tell the sales organization I lead, "If you know the 'why' you'll figure out the 'how'." You are all very intelligent, dedicated individuals. You can figure out 'how' to support the cause. If the 'why' isn't blindingly obvious after reading that comment from Peter whose name, if I remember my Sunday School lessons correctly, means "The Rock", it never will be. Thank you for commenting, Peter.  You are an inspiration to me, and I feel confident your story will be an inspiration to others as well.  Not all of us can shake Ron Paul's hand to see what you saw, but because of your story we don't have to.

Super Tuesday, February 5th marks the end of the first quarter that began on November 5th, 2007 and will end on election day November 4th, 2008.  The game is far, far from over. With people like Peter on our team, how can we sleep at night if we give up just because the other teams are taunting us after an early score?  There's another team of Patriots playing on Super Sunday before Super Tuesday who found themselves behind a few times this season as well.  They knew they had the best team, stayed focused on the task at hand, and finished the primary (regular) season undefeated.  Now they have a chance to rewrite the history books.  So do we.  Let's do this.

Your Fellow American,

John Armstrong

My wife and I gave up our weekly "date night" 6 or 7 weeks ago. Our "date" usually consisted of a great dinner out and a new release movie on Friday nights. We rounded the figure to an even $50 bucks. So on our Friday night we look forward to giving $25 each and then watching for our name to come across the RP ticker (Hey, it's a lot more fun than it sounds!). Many people in our circle of friends and family have done similar things too. We found that "giving up" our Friday night was a blessing in disguise! Now we have a some like minded folks over for a pot luck dinner or just go visiting. We have reconnected with family and have met more friends! I give credit to Ron Paul and this campaign for leading us back to what is important! It seems that the more we make ourselves do things for the campaign it makes us want to do that much more. Odd, huh?....Great article. Thanks!...Get up, get out, get active! RP08!

Since I have known of Ron Paul I have spoken to dozens of people. I look for every oppurtunity to inject his campaign into the conversation. The thing I find is that many people really don't know him and often quote MSM labels about him. I don't back off till I actually speak of the issues and his position on them. Not a single person once penetrated by the issues has looked at Ron Paul the same. So even if the money doesn't numerically add up to the same his message gets out powerfully without a penny being spent by people like me. How much is that worth?

I also want to add that the amount raised is not peanuts. That is some serous money.

Dear Mr. Armstrong,

It is too bad that you have fallen for what appears to me to be the same trap that others have fallen for. That is throwing good money after bad. No, I don't throw my money away to main stream media on worthless ads that don't work. This is what the 'campaign' seems to be doing. Why give the money back to the media that is blackballing us. Us being the revolution.

So I'll continue to give my money to the revolution because that is what works. I'll continue to do all of the tried and true methods of getting out the vote. That is what gets people of integrity elected. Let the Madison Avenue crowd elect their 30 second soundbite ad candidates like Hillary. That way main stream media gets their money right back. Well they won't get mine. My energy (which gets me money) will be spent on getting Ron Paul voters.

It will be spent on eliminating the electronic voting machines. It will be spent on 'We The People' running a 24/7 video of the New Hamshire recount.

It will be spent on signs that reach many that may lead them to start thinking, which is what the 'message' does.

http://www.freewayproject08.com/

It will be spent on REAL blimp advertising

http://www.myronpaulblimp.com/

Taking the energy from the revolution will weaken it and I for one will not do that. I will do everything I can to strengthen what could become a revolution large enough to have 10 million dollar money bombs.

You should have told Peter to pay his insurance, put a Ron Paul billboard on the back of his truck and drive around town. It's time to start taking resposibility as individuals.

Sincerely,

Ed Karasinski
