Seven Support Speeches for NV Ron Paul Caucus Goers Things to say at your caucus. A Repost.by John Armstrong

I received a great honor tonight when one of my readers from Nevada asked me to help him come up with some ideas for speeches he could give today at his caucus to try and become a delegate. My understanding is that there is a one minute speech and then possibly a two minute one later if elected. His particular situation was being in Las Vegasin a precinct with a lot elder citizens where he felt the economic issue was most important. I wrote most of the7 speeches belowwith that in mind, but there are some that are general support speeches.
As I was writing, I started to think that there might be a lot of you out there who would like to be a delegate but are afraid of public speaking or just didn't know what to say or how to say it. I thought there might be some of you who would just appreciate some new ideas. The speeches below are from an email I sent to this reader (we'll call him Mike), and there may be typos or nonsensical things in there because I haven't proofread it and started to get a little loopy at the end. Feel free to use any of these, or any parts of these if they will help you today at your caucus. I'm not writing this as an all-knowing great speech writer, I'm just trying to be helpful.
Your fellow American,
John Armstrong
Here are the Speeches:
I've heard that people were more afraid of public speaking than of being shot. None of you have guns do you (smile, pause)? But you do have a right to carry them under the second amendment. And we all have a right to speak openlytoday bc of the first amendment. And we have a right to have casinos up the street bc thetenth amendment grants states the authority to make their own laws if not forbidden by the constitution. When a President swears in he promises to protect the constitution. But we know from the X,000 fewer people that didn't play in the WSOP and bring money to our city last year bc the fed. gov. decided to make internet gambling illegal that people haven't been following the constitution. For twenty years, one man has protected the constitution. Ron Paul has never made an unconstitutional vote during that time. If other politicians did what they promised to do and voted the same way RP did we would have plenty of money for social security. Many of the people in this room remember when it was shameful to be in debt, but bc the politicians didn't keep their word and follow the constitution we now have so much debt that every person in this room and every man woman and child in America would have to pay $31,000 today toget rid of it. It keeps growing. And do our problems. Many of you rememberhearing "a stitch in time saves nine" as a child. We need more than 9 stitches to fix the problem, but we can put one in now to keep the problem from getting worse. That one stitch is following the Constitution like RP has for 20 years. I know I sound nasally bc of this coldtoday, and RP sounds nasally everyday, but when picking a delegate and President do you want someone who sounds good or someone who keeps their promises? I promise that everything I've said is true and if you select me and go home look up RP's record and found that I have lied, I will step down immediately. I won't let you down, and neither will RP.
I might not seem like much of a candidate to be a delegate because of my nasally voice today, and Ron Paul might not seem like one bc of his. The desert probably didn't seem like a good place to build a city 100 years ago either. But things obviously aren't always as they seem. Just like our city, Ron Paul knows a lot about money. He knows that our dollar is getting weaker; right nowit's worth less than the Candian Dollar. He knows that if you spend more than you have, you go into debt; and right now everyone here and every single other person in America would have to pay $30,000 today to pay it off. He knows that borrowing over a Billion Dollar per day from the Chinese thing isn't smart. He also knows the reason we have these problems is that our government has gotten bigger because other politicians haven't followed the Constitution--But he has--for 20 years. The reason he has done so is because he swore he would when he took office. If selected as a delegate, I swear I will do my job as well. I might not seem like much of a candidate, but as our city in the desert and Ron Paul prove, things aren't always what they seem.
Our city is known for quick marriages and quick money. While both of these things can be good, if they aren't handled properly they can lead to heartbreak. I don't think he got married in Vegas, but Ron Paul has handled his marriage well since he's been married to his wife Carol for 50 years. He's also managed money well--our money. In fact, he returns a part of his congressional office's budget to the Treasury each year. He also votes against more federal spending than anyone in Washington. If every politician voted the way he did, our children and grandchilren wouldn't have to worry about Social Security not being there for them. And the reason he votes against all of this spending is because he swore to uphold the Constitution when he took office, and it doesn't allow the government to spend the money they do--our money. As his marriage and voting record prove, he is a man who keeps his word. And if selected as a delegate I promise to keep mine and represent our precinct well.
All of us have seen tourists walking around who just lost everything. Their credit cards are maxed out, their friends won't give them anymore money, and theycan't print their own. Probably just a few hours before they were riding high and everything seemed fine. If someonehad spoken with reason and told them to stop going to the ATM, they wouldn't have listened. Right now America is like that tourist. Things seem fine, and we're at the top of the world. Unlike the tourist, they can go to the ATM all they want by taking taxes from us. They can print also print money through the federal reservemaking more dollars available. The more of something there is, the less each one of that thing is worth--which is why our dollar is now worth less than the Canadian Dollar. And we have a friend named China that will loan us money now, but maydecide to cut usoff in the future. Ron Paul islike the friend trying to get his friend to leave the casino. It's better for the casino, and for the city ifthe touriststays and plays; but it's worse for him. It's better for the government bureaucracy if they keep playing the same games they have been for years; but it's worse for us. Gas Prices and the National Debt are at all-time highs. People are losing their homes left and right here. I support Ron Paul and wish that people would listen to him the same way that sad tourist wishes he'd listened to his friend. We needsomeone who will tell us the truth even ifit doesn't seem important orwe don't wantto hear it before Icountrylooks like that sad tourist who just lost everything.
We have enough magic shows in this city that any of us can see through the facade. But when it comes to the way we select our politicians, we get fooled every time. We all know that politicians lie. We all know that the government wastes money. We don't trust people who make big promises. Yet we keep electing people we know we can't trust. Democrats keep talking about "change" but their form of change doesn't change much other than taking more money from us by raising taxes to support an even bigger government. There wouldn't be any change necessary if politicians had been honest to begin with and kept their word to honor the Constitution because the Constitution doesn't allow them to spend our money on the things they spend it on. It also doesn't allow for a national bank like the Federal Reserve. A lot of people say Ron Paul promises a lot like getting rid of the IRS but has no real plan. His plan is simple: follow the Constitution and we wouldn't need an income tax. And he don't have to go back to the stone age to cut enough spending to do this, if government were just the size it was in 2000, we woudn't need an income tax. Gas prices are going up here faster than anywhere else in the world because our dollar is weaker so it takes more dollars to buy the same amount of gas. The dollar is weak because the Federal Reserve prints money out of thin air. When there is more of something, it is worth less. RP has followed the Constitution for over 20 years as a congressman. If the other politicians had done so, gas prices would be lower, taxes would be lower or non-existant, and Social Security would be saved. Many people learn after they leave our city and state thatusing a little financial discipline and better decision making would have been a good idea. Don't you think it would be a good idea to have a President who understands that before he goes to Washington? Wouldn't it also be a good idea to have a delegate who supports him?
If you saw someone dive in front of a car, you would think he was crazy. If you saw the child he saved, you would think he was a hero. Not supporting the war in Iraq this election seasonas a Republican Candidate seems about as crazy as jumping in front of an oncoming car. Many of my fellow Republicans won't support Ron Paul he doesn't support the war or because they think he's crazy. They think he doesn't support the war for the same reason Hillary doesn't--political convenience. But did you know that he is the only GOP candidate who proposed a motion that would have allowed for a formal declaration of war by Congress, as the Constitution requires? This would have provided provided all of the funding needed to win without having to wrangle democrats for money and clear objectivesso we wouldknow what "winning" the war meant and when we'd doneit. Did you know that he served in the military as a flight surgeon for 6 years? Did you know that he has more contributions from military members than anyone else running? Did you know that John McCain once called him "the most honest man in Washington"? Did you know that he has proposed and supported more legislation to support veterans than any other member of Congress? Did you know that he voted for the military action in Afghanistan so we could catch bin Laden and the people who did attack us? Did you know that one of the reasons he didn't support the war in Iraqwas because he didn't want to take resources away from catching bin Laden? Ron Paul is the most fiscally conservative member of Congress. His nickname is Dr. No because he votes against so many spending bills. Don't get caught up in what everyone else is telling you about Ron Paul being a "pacifist" or "liberal" or "doesn't support our troops" bc he doesn't support the war in Iraq--nothing could be further from the truth. Believing that is like believing that person jumping infront of the car is crazy until you see the child heis trying to save. The child Ron Paul is trying to saveisour GOP by being the most honest and true conservative in the race and America by protecting all of our rights by upholding the Constitution--like he has for 20 years as a Congressman.
If you had a contract with someone to do a job and they never did it, you would be upset. If you paid them up front you would be even more upset. If they took you to court and the court decided you owed them even more money even though they never did the job they promised to do, you would be furious. Yet that's exactly what politicians have been doing forever, and we keep sending the same politicians to Washington. We have a contract with our government called the Constitution; every person who is elected swears to uphold it. Yet they don't. They keep coming up with new laws and programs which they have no contractual right to create that we have to pay for up front with our taxes. Then they go to the courtswho interpret the contract in such a way that it makes it okay for them to spend not only this money, but to spend even more. When they can't getenough, they just print more money and make all of ours worth less. This is why gas prices are high; it's why foreclosures are so high; it's why we don't have enough money for social security; and it's why our dollar is worth less than the Canadian Dollar. Ron Paul has a 20 year track record to prove that he will uphold his promise to follow the constitution and that he won't spend what isn't needed. He believes so strongly in this, that he doesn't participate in the lucrative congressional pension program and even returns part of his office's budget to the Treasury each year. In 20 years, he has never voted to raise taxes. He has the record to show that he really is the most responsible spender in Congress. I will be just as responsible of a delegate if you give me the chance.

I'll be extremely brief so please lend me your attention and careful consideration. I would be surprised if any of you aren't aware of what happened not too long ago in one of our countries most historic cities and important ports. I speak now of New Orleans. How can any American citizen look at what happened there and tell me our government is working. We are spending literally trillions of dollars and human treasure over seas when we can't even take care of our own citizens in one of our most important cities. If you, like me, finally got the message that our government has lost it's way then you have one choice and one choice only in front of you today. Ron Paul.
