Fred Thompson - The Ghost of Conservatives Past He is the perfect image of the decaying GOP that the Limbaugh brothers pine for.by Jahfre Fire Eater

Fred Thompson is a great conservative in many respects but he has no appeal to people under a certain age, politically, even if romantically the score is different.
He has no appeal to conservative independents or GOP conservatives who are not also fear-mongering, empire-building globalists. I've been to meetings of long-standing conservative organizations. Approaching 50 years myself, I'm often 20-30 years younger than most of the others in attendance.
Fred Thompson is not a viable current leader but a ghastly harbinger of changes the GOP needs to make in order to attract a new wave of unwavering conservative voters. These changes embodied in the man and his message, Dr. Ron Paul.
Ron Paul is the candidate who has swelled the ranks of the GOP with new or newly active conservatives, not Thompson.

Fred Thompson is to the new conservatism what Ron Paul is to Neville Chamberlain conservatism.
Oh darn, I brought up history again.
Unlike Reagan, Ron Paul wants to surrender in Iraq. Reagan told Reason that it made no sence to stop military action in Vietnam when you already had troops involved. To quit would show the enemy that you could be defeated. The Vietnam War caused a lot of veterans to be disenfranchised with the country. The same will happen if we surrender in Iraq. A place where we have already won.
Lebenon = a place full of white skinned blond headed anti-semetic Arabs. A place that Isreal still has a hard time with, and a place where Reagan was wrong.
Oh god I said it, Reagan screwed up, he allowed Casper Weinberger to cancel the mission. Lebanon does not respect Israel because they allow Hezbollah to exist. Reagan "ephed up" by not taking out weak Statism in lebanon when he had the chance. Weinberger cancelled because he thought the mission would harm US-Arab relations. If you are going to intervene, you better commit to winning.
"If you are going to intervene, you better commit to winning." - if you don't intervene, then you don't have to worry about winning or losing, you also don't need to switch sides half way through when the team you're supporting starts to lose.
"The same will happen if we surrender in Iraq. A place where we have already won." - If we have already won then we no longer need to be there. Also, if we've already won, there would be no surrender. The only interest the US has over there now is to set up the next puppet government, who will eventually abuse their American given powers and cause us to continue the cycle. Set 'em up and knock 'em down.
With all that said, I enjoy having these little discussions with you. It is nice to have a back and forth sometimes. I'd be interested to see all of your views point for point on the issues that are raised in todays world.
Like Japan, Germany, and Italy today? Oh wait those nations are more liberal today, then they were when we were fighting them.
We gave up in Vietnam, North Korea, and lebanon, with the exception of Vietnam, we see nothing but one sided Statism in the other two nations.
Iraq and Afghanistan will be new launching points for the US military, so that we can oppress the Statist Arab and Persian (Iran) world. Pakistan is under pressure by India and the US to rid themselves of Al-Quida. I of course know this because I watch Al-Jazeera, talk to my Muslim Pakistani and Hindu Indian friends that I work with.
They hate terrorism, but know that it is harder to beat at home because you never know where or who they are. I have told them that Iraq is now safer than Pakistan, it is not funny, but it is true. By supporting Musarif, we have had an ability to get to Afghanistan faster and we have had authority to tell Musarif to promote democracy. Pakistan is full of Terrorists and cunfused people. It resembles post Civil war US.

FRED THOMPSON is the best person to lead this country. He is a true conservative and has been his entire life. All one has to do is check his record to see this.
During my time in the Army as an Intelligence Analyst, I served under both Presidents Carter and Reagan (as my commanders in chief). Without argument, President Reagan was the best commander-in-chief a military person could ever have served under. Fred Thompson possesses the same qualities and vision as President Reagan in that he is strong on national defense and sees a dire need to secure our borders and control immigration.
I can think of no better person to lead this country and fix the problems we have. He is the only candidate from either party who has specific and detailed plans on border security and immigration reform; revitalization of America’s armed forces; saving and protecting Social Security; and tax relief and economic growth. These are detailed on his Web site at www.fred08.com . I challenge you to find any other candidate who has laid out specific plans to fix anything.
Fred Thompson has published his first principles, some of which are mentioned above. In addition to those, he strongly believes in individual liberty, personal responsibility, limited government, federalism, traditional American values, the rule of law and is a strong proponent of the Second Amendment — all concepts established during the birth of our country and documented in our Constitution.
Again, try to find any candidate who has laid out their plans to “fix” this country. You will find they all speak in vague and abstract terms on their plans.
For those who have heard Fred Thompson speak, you will usually hear him say that the Fred Thompson you see today is the same Fred Thompson you saw yesterday and is the same Fred Thompson you will see tomorrow. He stands by his principles and values and doesn’t shift his positions based on polls or public opinion; in other words, he doesn’t say what the voters want to hear just to get elected, but remains steadfast on his views and convictions.
During his time in the Senate he focused on three areas: to lower taxes, strengthen national security and expose waste in the federal government. Fred Thompson has foreign policy experience, having served as member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Senate Intelligence committees.
As chairman of the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee, he opened the investigation in 1997 on the Chinese government’s attempt to influence American policies and elections, and this investigation identified connections with the Clinton administration (documented in the committee’s report).
As a member of the Finance Committee, he worked tirelessly to enact three major tax-cut bills. Fred Thompson remains steadfast and even though a person may not agree with all his views and he understands some may disagree with him, you can count on him to be consistent and unwavering.
Don’t be fooled by his laid back approach and what critics call his “laziness.” As a former assistant U.S. attorney, he earned a reputation as a tough prosecutor and he possesses the toughness this country needs in order to tackle today’s and tomorrow’s issues.
I ask that you take a hard look at what this country needs, then take a hard look at all the other candidates’ views, policies, their records and their track record on consistency. Fred Thompson possesses integrity, loyalty, commitment, energy and decisiveness, all traits of an effective leader, and will emerge as the best person to take this country boldly forward.
Please help Fred win in 2008:

Thanks for your comments.
Joel: My use of the word "swelling" is my opinion based on the thousands of newly registered Republicans we and our friends have signed up over the past 9 months. Unless you can offer a reason to believe there was an off-setting draining of Republicans I stand by the word.
There are only two conservatives in the race, Fred represents the dead and decaying conservative faction.
Fredrick: Feel free to comment on my articles any time but If you want to promote your candidate write your own damn article. Your blatant tag-along is sleezy.
Statist: I see your agenda but no comment on my article. Write your own damn article too.
